I've used that add-on in the past. Quite useful indeed.
Awesome, it doesn't work for Minefield!
Removal of postals ass is in session.
This guy was helping with some Voodoo2 issues when this came up. Who in their right mind would use a VNC session on WINDOWS to run Firefox and browse the web on a REMOTE Linux computer? His reasoning is that "Firefox on Linux is different." Uh, so a few menus are changed around? Big deal?
(01:19:10 AM) Chad has signed on. (01:19:45 AM) Chad: inevitably, there are 17 different places that the same device gets the same configuration, but it's a stupid game trying to figure out which ones linux doesn't ignore, and which config files only supercede other config files. (01:20:08 AM) GiGaBiTe: I know where to configure X (01:20:18 AM) GiGaBiTe: but it keeps dying when the voodoo is selected (01:20:26 AM) GiGaBiTe: INVALID DAC TYPE (01:20:44 AM) Chad: i had no fun at all trying to get WinVNC working on linux for these reasons. (01:20:59 AM) GiGaBiTe: well duh (01:21:03 AM) GiGaBiTe: its WINDOWS vnc (01:21:05 AM) GiGaBiTe: not linux (01:21:14 AM) Chad: hehe. it's winvnc FOR linux. (01:21:20 AM) GiGaBiTe: just vnc (01:21:26 AM) GiGaBiTe: vnc on linux fails (01:21:29 AM) GiGaBiTe: ssh is better (01:21:34 AM) GiGaBiTe: or remote logon (01:22:04 AM) Chad: uhm. ssh or remote login is really no substitute for vnc (01:22:44 AM) GiGaBiTe: well when you can do everything by ssh, a gui isnt needed (01:23:55 AM) Chad: i can not interact through my desktop via ssh. and i can not use any KDE programs via ssh. where did you get the idea that i could surf the web with firefox via ssh? (01:24:24 AM) Chad: ok, it's called Xvnc on my system. (01:24:39 AM) GiGaBiTe: why would anyone want to use firefox through vnc (01:24:47 AM) GiGaBiTe: thats so redundant its dumb (01:25:15 AM) Chad: are you kidding, or being insulting? ;) (01:25:15 AM) Chad has signed off. (01:25:54 AM) Chad has signed on. (01:26:09 AM) GiGaBiTe: no, im saying who in their right mind would do that (01:26:16 AM) GiGaBiTe: its redundant and unnecessary (01:26:35 AM) GiGaBiTe: unless your trying to spoof / hack / flood someone with different ips (01:27:29 AM) Chad: you realize that firefox for linux does not run on a windows pc. (01:27:47 AM) GiGaBiTe: you realize there is a windows version? (01:27:49 AM) Chad: but i can use my windows pc and linux firefox on the same screen this way (01:27:56 AM) Chad: you realize the windows version is different? (01:28:01 AM) GiGaBiTe: uh (01:28:02 AM) Chad: :) (01:28:09 AM) GiGaBiTe: besides the menus being moved around (01:28:09 AM) GiGaBiTe: no (01:28:12 AM) Chad: but that is not the issue (01:28:26 AM) Chad: the issue is that i can NOT use firefox via an SSH terminal session. (01:28:49 AM) Chad: nor can i use any KDE or Gnome programs, menus, config utilities, or anything. (01:28:52 AM) GiGaBiTe: the issue is why are you using firefox on windows through vnc when there is a windows version.. (01:28:57 AM) GiGaBiTe: thats really dumb (01:29:00 AM) Chad has signed off. (01:29:19 AM) Chad has signed on. (01:29:21 AM) Chad: you said i could do anything via ssh or remote login. now you obviously want to forget you said that. (01:29:37 AM) Chad: since i gave you an excellent example of what you can't use ssh for (01:29:55 AM) Chad: but, funny you mention it, i do sometimes open an ssh session so that i can use Lynx (01:29:57 AM) Chad: ;) (01:29:58 AM) GiGaBiTe: yeah but the question is why (01:30:05 AM) GiGaBiTe: there is no reason to do what your doing (01:30:08 AM) GiGaBiTe: its redundant (01:30:13 AM) GiGaBiTe: to the point of being dumb (01:30:37 AM) Chad: so we were never arguing about the usefulness of vnc? we were talking about the dumbness of using linux firefox from the start? (01:30:40 AM) Chad: no. (01:31:21 AM) GiGaBiTe: we are talking about why you arent using a native windows firefox installed on your pc (01:31:27 AM) GiGaBiTe: instead of using crappy vnc (01:31:36 AM) GiGaBiTe: theres no reason to (01:31:44 AM) GiGaBiTe: theres nothing different about linux firefox (01:31:52 AM) GiGaBiTe: besides soeme menu items changed around (01:31:56 AM) GiGaBiTe: some* (01:32:16 AM) Chad: i guess i'm stupid for not installing KDE Control Center on my windows 2000 computer, too. (01:32:22 AM) GiGaBiTe: ... (01:32:36 AM) Chad: i don't use vnc EXCLUSIVELY for linux firefox. (01:32:40 AM) GiGaBiTe: HELLO? FIREFOX HAS A WINDOWS EXECUTABLE? (01:32:43 AM) Chad: i use vnc for a remote desktop. (01:32:46 AM) GiGaBiTe: www.firefox.com (01:33:33 AM) Chad: look man, give up on the firefox. firefox is just one of about 345 different programs i can use over vnc, and not an ssh session. (01:33:54 AM) Chad: i can even vnc into an ssh client. :D (01:34:36 AM) GiGaBiTe: I'm going to post this on facepunch to see how much everyone laughs (01:34:40 AM) GiGaBiTe: this is ridiculous (01:34:49 AM) GiGaBiTe: using vnc to use firefox on linux (01:34:53 AM) Chad: i guess i'm not cool enough to know what facepunch is (01:34:54 AM) GiGaBiTe: when theres a windows version (01:34:57 AM) GiGaBiTe: priceless.
:downs:?
Haha. This guy has the smarts.
That man knows his stuff :downs:
Fucking idiot, and coming from someone that doesn't know shit about computers.
This guy is a genius I wish I was as smart as him.
Ask him to run vnc through linux to yet ANOTHER computer to run something such as.. hmm.. calculator? Claim that the calculator just calculates "differently" with VNC.
He went all emo on me and signed off after saying "THE WORLD DOESN'T UNDERSTAND ME" or something along those lines, was insignificant so didn't really read it before closed the window.
Heh, you have a valid point GiGaBiTe. If I knew how to use SSH, then I'd choose it over VNC any day. VNC is laggy, it's horrible. I only use it to check my downloads from work or something.
Yeah, especially for things like torrents. You just run the torrent program in a screen and flip the screen page in SSH to see it remotely.
(01:28:26 AM) Chad: the issue is that i can NOT use firefox via an SSH terminal session. (01:28:49 AM) Chad: nor can i use any KDE or Gnome programs, menus, config utilities, or anything.
Of course he can, tunnel X over SSH and install an X server on his normal machine. Of course, this guy is using Firefox over VNC for some imaginary reasons...
What the hell did he just say? I'm a Windows man :v:.
What the hell did he just say? I'm a Windows man :v:.
An X server (X11 for long) is to *nix as Explorer.exe is to Windows. It's basically the graphical subsystem for Linux that all GUI, SDL and other such things use. You can run an X11 client on a Windows box that's tunneled into a Linux machine and run stuff on that Linux machine from the local console.
You can run an X11 client on a Windows box that's tunneled into a Linux machine and run stuff on that Linux machine from the local console.
This man knows his stuff. I do that quite a bit, it can come in very useful and the programs use less bandwidth than over VNC, plus with the right extensions compiled for the X Server on the Windows side, I can even play games over the network :D Have yet to get Sauerbraten working properly yet though.
I just found this about 2 days ago and I thought, "Hey? Why not tell anyone who doesn't already know about this?" So here is a link to their website. http://www.adaptiveblue.com/index.html It's basically a cool way of organizing saved URLs and you can share them to different sites. Check it out! Don't bash me if everyone knows about it already, please. :cop:
It's :cop:. Looks pretty sweet.
It's :cop:. Looks pretty sweet.
Apparently not.
Apparently not.
Apparently what? That it doesn't look sweet, or it's not :police: ?
Does it work with the beta?
Apparently not.
He used noparse :eng101:
Does it work with the beta?
Yes it does.
BlueOrganizer helps you save and organize your favorite books, movies, music, and more by clicking on the BlueOrganizer button on your toolbar. You can later access these things by opening up the My Things sidebar. Simply start typing to find the object you are looking for. Use options to change sidebar to a compact mode.
It sounds like a periphrastic crap addon to me, is it actually useful?

I just downloaded firefox, and so far, it's awesome. There is one thing that's bugging me, though. Whenever I click on a link in Steam chat, it takes me to the page in the internet explorer. Is there a way to make the page appear in firefox? Any help would be greatly appreciated. (User was banned for this post (Reason: Wrong forum.) [event] 51377 [/event])
