You guys are almost putting the word "edgy" in every post you write, think of another word it's just annoying seeing all these superiority complexes.
One gripe I have with this game is that it looks like you'll have the police on your ass all the time, separating you from actually being able to go out and fuck up normal people, but instead forcing you to just shoot cops like every other game.
Knot Himpohrtahnt
It's Nat M. Portante, he's actually a cajun
All these people who keep saying stuff to the effect of "too edgy, not self aware, I hope they do something with the edgyness".
Why do they have to do anything with it? Why can't this game just be about fun? Looks like a fun mindless shooter to me, I'll probably pick this up if it ever goes on sale.
Because people always like to apply morals and ethics to video games. For every edgy or disturbed situation there must always be an equal and opposite wacky/funny situation just to keep everything in check. People don't identify with indiscriminate murderers with no other motivation than hatred of society so for most people it's easier to relate to someone who gets drunk and trips over himself while shooting up banks making silly remarks. In the end it's all about the tone and to a lot of people the game is too disturbing.
The marketing for this game is very obviously trying to be edgy as fuck in order to start controversy and get discussions going. Ironically the people who think the devs aren't actually aware of the game they're making are the ones out of touch.
This still looks dumb.
In what way? To me it looks like it has smooth gameplay, cool destruction and particle effects.
If after this people still think this edge isn't satire, nothing will convince them.
"My name, is important, what's not important is what i'm going to do, i just fucking love this world" etc etc
Sounds like a presidential inauguration speech.
i'm 14 and this game looks cool
I hope this is moddable so we can get the full Fuck Shit Up™ experience.
The game is supposedly "extremely moddable" as said by the developers.
It's also going to be $19.99.
i'm 14 and this game looks cool
i'm not even born yet even i know 80's metal is better than the pop shit we have today_
I don't want to kill kids in this game.
I want to kill kids in Fallout and TES and sometimes Deus Ex
Totally looking forward to it too. Gonna be playing this game while blasting some Dying Fetus. :v:

I still don't understand what's so morally questionable about shooting imaginary people. We've been doing this for years, in GTA.
this game in many ways is like "what if we turned a deathcore song into a video game"
I bet this game will just be pretty boring and not make half as much controversy post-release
The only thing it had going for it was the controversy and how people disliked it because its obviously bating for attention.
As said, its still dumb as hell.

Because, as said, gta actually has a story, which none of it is based on killing unnarmed civs in pretty messed up ways to move forward in the game.
I don't see how people find gta to be the same as this, just because you can also kill unnarmed people.
Instead of trying to make a reply to every argument in this thread I disagree with, I'll just quote this post I made in another thread that sums up my views on the controversy surrounding Hatred quite nicely. To put it in context, the first part of this post was referring to a claim that "at least Postal 1 and Manhunt were decent games outside of the concept."
again...
Objectives.
Gta doesn't makes you kill everyone because its your "job".
Gta doesn't makes your character sound like a modern day suicide by cop school shooter who's sole purpose is to kill everyone.
Gta doesn't makes its selling point the controversy generated by its violence.
Oh and btw, in Manhunt you didn't kill a single unnarmed innocent, that I remember.
i am pretty sure these guys are heavily influenced by deathcore and other similar genres, and if you read some cannibal corpse or whitechapel lyrics you'd see that the writing in this game is, comparatively, incredibly tryhard edgy and tame. and even then, you don't see deathcore fans going around murdering people, raping their corpses, eating their brains and "devirginizing" women with chainsaws.
I still maintain the stance that this game was rated AO purely by moral principles and not by its actual content
I find it hilarious that some people can't even imagine that the game as humor because they got too uncomfortable by the subject matter and that the game doesn't have "obvious self-awareness".
I think the monologues are obvious enough but having to point out the joke with "WOW LOOK AT HOW DUMB THIS IS" detracts from a lot of humor.

When he said "Motherfuckers" it sealed the deal on it being satire.
b/c thats how its presented
have you watched their trailers its p obvious its just killing and no depth and nothing else to it except controversy
And? So is GTA.
And? So is GTA.
I don't know if you've actually watched a single trailer for a GTA game but not a single one of them shows just the player killing a bunch of random pedestrians without any context or anything. Most GTA stories are very much about the story.
I think this game looks rather nice for a twin stick shooter with its destruction effects and what not.
The theme though is just not to my liking, very much dislike the black and white too.

Exactly. And this trailer isn't a story trailer for Hatred. It's gameplay without context and yet some are quick to judge that is all there is.

Knowing the creator, the studio and their message in delivering this game it's probably meant to be serious.
But that's okay.
When he said "Motherfuckers" it sealed the deal on it being satire.
I found that really interesting...
In the first trailer, the main character sounded like, well, the kind of wacko that shoots up people because of his sick twisted mind. It's cringey and edgy, but rather believable. I don't know if those kinds of people act anywhere close to that, but it sounds like a credible crazy mass shooter.
Comes the second trailer... And that "motherfuckers" pretty much dispels a great deal of seriousness.
What I meam to say with this, is that it sounds like the game was meant to be taken "seriously", but after all the backlash it got, they realised it was just too fucking bonkers and they just backpedalled going "ha ha, it was satire all along guise, see? Ha ha!.."
A few things I want from hatred.
Mods; I want edgy anime chracters running around with guns.
Possible minority and child killings; because the game is already rated AO so why the fuck not.
Custom music; Because I can't wake up.
I don't want to kill kids in this game.

I did, in Fallout 3 with mods.
It's was hilarious because most oft them were assholes to me.
I turned Little Lamplight into a ghost town.
I even killed the dogs.

i'm still of the opinion that bethesda purposefully made all of the child characters assholes as a way to taunt players
they knew you could kill kids in fo1 and fo2, they had to know people would've tried in fo3

So instead of making them nice to give you no reason to shoot them, let's arm some of them and make them as provocative as possible.
I am so happy that I had some chance of payback on PC, when I played it on the 360,
I chased them with the mutilated corpse of their dog to scare them.
People get so worked up over murdering pixels, it's silly. I've still haven't heard a logical argument as to why it's an issue.
I guess people will get butthurt over anything, specially these days.
I'll play it and enjoy it, just like the rest of the games I've been playing -without injecting innecessary morals into it- for the last 15+ years.

A lot of people comare it to GTA's possibility to kill innocents.
GTA V simply ALLOWS people to kill civilians and not make it the main focus.
In Hatred, killing civilians IS the main objective and they have built a really provoking context around it about a guy hating humans and killing them all.
It's not about the killings, since people kill virtual people for ages now, it's about the context of justify mass murder and to be honest, I personally find the character really unpleasant and unlikeable, the first trailer made me feel the same way like I did in DNF after the "you're fucked" scene.
Believe me, reactions would have been far better, if they would make the character voiceless and scrap the "story"

What, do you think that Rockstar is somehow oblivious to people's desire to kill innocents in their game? Regardless of whether or not it's the "objective" every single person that has ever played GTA does it, and the game is completely aware of it.
It honestly seems like the only reason people are so up in arms about here is because in Hatred it makes you feel uncomfortable rather than being amusing and light-hearted like in GTA, Postal 2 etc. (because god forbid a depiction of mass goddamn murder make someone feel uncomfortable).
It's not about the killings, since people kill virtual people for ages now, it's about the context of justify mass murder and to be honest,
Again, I don't see why people believe that Hatred is supposed to be trying to justify or condone mass murder. Depicting a person with a certain perspective is not the same thing as the creator personally endorsing said perspective. You can explore themes and ideas without thinking that those ideas are desirable.
I personally find the character really unpleasant and unlikeable, the first trailer made me feel the same way like I did in DNF after the "you're fucked" scene
Well no shit, the main character isn't supposed to be pleasant or likeable. He's a fucking spree killer. You aren't intended to identify with him or think he's a cool, stand-up guy.
