Primus :buddy:
Jazz.
I listen to it regularly on the radio, and I've even played a few jazz pieces, but I still feel like I havn't taken the genre seriously.
My knowledge of ska is mostly just limited to third wave, so I'll give you a list of good third wave bands.
Everything by Less Than Jake up to and including Anthem, Reel Big Fish (I'm seeing them for the second time on Saturday.), Streetlight Manifesto, Mustard Plug, early Goldfinger, early Suicide Machines, Big D and the Kids Table, Bomb The Music Industry, Catch 22, Planet Smashers, Sonic Boom Six, Smash Mouth's first album, Five Iron Frenzy, Buck O Nine, RX Bandits, early Aquabats, Upstanding Youth, Suburban Legends
Metal.
I just can't love it.
Jazz (and jazz fusion), old-school hip-hop, hardcore punk, crust, sludge, southern rock, funk.
wow, almost everyone is posting jazz. :v:
Metal.

There may be some core albums that can help you enjoy it more. It depends on what you've listened to, some styles are harder to get into than others.

Probably the easiest genre to divulge into.

Still, they're worth mentioning.
The thing with Drone Ambient, is that it doesn't necessarily have to have an affiliation with "Drone Doom Metal".
I thought everyone knew that. We are in the 21st century, Drone + Ambient can be metal, electronic, rock, idm, jazz, or anything. Drone is the type of notes, and ambient is the mood, your actual genre could theoretically be anything.
There is probably a metal fusion of every genre out there too so you should be able so find some common grounds in the sound
Rap fans could get into it via bands like Body Count, Suicidal Tendencies etc
Jazz fans through bands like Cynic, Exivious, and if you don't mind harsh vocals Atheist. And if you're into very confusing music, Shining :v:
etc
The slackers are more worth mentioning :q:
ambient is the mood
I disagree, I would have gone with "atmospheric" sounds.

Very primitive way of getting people to open up to genres.
I say go head first into the genre and get accustomed with it, playing around with the bounderies of what you are already accustomed to will not be useful at all.
AK'z whats some good soul to start out with?

Awesome.
For those who want to know the reason is why I'm only asking for an album, it's because I don't have enough space to download whole discographies anymore (...alright I have 500gb free on my computer but I like my libraries to fit on my Ipod).

Will look in all of these, this is more than enough for the coming months considering I have around 30 other albums I want to listen to at the moment.
Also Camel's Mirage is surprisingly one of the greatest prog rock albums ever made :v:
whole discographies anymore.
You don't need "whole discographies" on your ipod :smugdog:

I like having the discography of certain bands, just so that I have their "history".
Like The Beatles, I need like 4 more albums to complete it.

Well, having them in your library is different to stuffing your ipod with them.
I for one have plenty of discographies.
