Burzums Ambient works really wanted me to get more into the genre, but I don't know shit about good artists. I listened to some Lustmord and while being very atmospheric, I didn't like that the music was so very unnerving and creepy. I'd prefer some more "mystic" or "spacey" stuff or whatever you would call it. I'd also like to start listening to all of those old Rock bands that are around, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Queen etc. but I don't know where to start really and there's so much music.

I have really mainly been listening to Jazz lately (Coltrane, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, etc.) But ever since I saw my grandpa play with his old band ( They're pretty old ), I have been wanting to get into Blues a lot more. I already listen to some B.B King but that is about it.

It's a very vast genre, possibly more so than jazz as it may seem :psyboom:
Classical.
I just don't like metal in general, something about it just really doesnt appeal to me. I like the heavier side of rock music and stuff but I can't get into any actual 'metal' bands. :smith:
something about it
Try and figure out what that is. Then come back. :3:
It all sounds the same. Constant distortion just gets tiresome. Its like too much of a good thing and it gets shit. Even metal bands that try and border on rock and have more clean stuff I don't particularly enjoy.

Instrumental by Periphery Jetpacks Was Yes! (with vocals, not everyone digs the vocals)

I don't like how loud the vocals are, they're no more an instrument than guitars or drums.(darn producers) But yeah thanks man.
What about power metal Also I'm not gonna have a go at you for saying it but saying all metal sounds the same is SO WRONG. And I made this a while ago in case you want to use it.
I like this kind of thing Obviously not metal at all but still this kind of stuff is awesome. Maybe more punk though. [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] Ooh and an awesome metal album I liked: http://omegamassif.bandcamp.com/album/geisterstadt
Metal is a pretty broad genre, for example Amesoeurs sounds nothing like Týr, or Metallica. I don't even get how Amesoeurs is considered metal. :v:
More power metal then Versailles Blind Guardian Also something a bit different. Equilibrium.

Cheese is pretty much a trait of power metal
Its a bit cheesy, to say the least.
You quoted three songs. [editline]26th March 2011[/editline] Versailles is cheesy as fuck. They dress up like Final Fantasy characters it's hilarious. The Equilibrium track isn't power metal at all though.
Versailles are also fucking amazing

My friend is obsessed with all things japanese, but I don't understand why he has to like the music too, I mean he won't even listen to other types of music. :psyduck:
Is it just me or are all J-rock bands like that?
No they don't. Maximum the Hormone Toe (Post-Rock but still a Japanese band)
