did you put a texture over it? I see a lot of cross hatching stuff but I am not sure if it's real cross hatching
Do you have an account anywhere where you post stuff? I wanna see more of your stuff.
Not really, if I do something I feel is worth posting I just put it here. I don't really do enough stuff to justify a gallery or something
Can you post a version without the girl?

What do you use, photoshop?

I use photoshop for the most part. I have no idea how long it took me because it's just one of those things I've come back to every now and again over the past month for an hour or so at a time, but I imagine in an ideal world where I wouldn't get bored it would take me 20 hours, probably more
did you put a texture over it? I see a lot of cross hatching stuff but I am not sure if it's real cross hatching
The cross hatching is all done with the brush tool, It's a nice way of giving texture and detail to big flat areas I got from Nicholas Kay, you should check out his tutorials he's got some really good tips. I also took his advice on using photographic textures, I did use a couple but the best way to use them is right near the start, when you've just got a few basic values down, overlay them at a lowish opacity and then paint right into them- They're best for hinting at details in midlit areas. the only texture I brought in later was that crack on the floor, after several of my own attempts failed miserably, but even there you have to really paint into it to make it fit seamlessly and not to have detail density all over the place.

Dude, same thing.
I feel like I'm still in Kokiri Forest and some guy walks up to me and gives me the Master Sword, and just walks away. What the fuck, guy? WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING OF ME?!
Doing a bit of fun sketching stuff.

I know right?! I was expecting a bit of money to put towards buying one if anything!

Is it supposed to be blue or green?
Is it supposed to be blue or green?
Blue. A light, comfortable blue.
I drew it in blue, but this screen is uncalibrated so on a good screen it was green, gross and contrasty. So on that computer, I re-toned the colors in lightroom. But then it was a somewhat murky purple on this shitty screen, so I just posted both.

I'm seeing the main image you posted as a light, comfortable blue. The linked one is green.
Looks good btw.

Congrats.
You don't have a shitty screen.
btw where do I tone my screen or know if its correctly toned?

The only way to really properly calibrate your screen is through external hardware.
If you wanna try to eyeball it though, and you're on a Windows machine, go to Control Panel --> Color Management. Go to "Advanced" in the tabs at the top. There'll be a "Calibrate Display" button near the bottom of that menu and it'll take you through some steps. It relies on your vision though.
Anyway, vector time.

-snip. I'm looking for feedback, not ridicule. The drawings are in a quote below anyway-

You can use programs such as QuickGamma to do it as well
Personally I'm not too anal about colour quality. My LCD is pretty old, cheap and has been through a lot - a cat pissed on it so I opened it up, washed it out entirely with water and left it to dry for 6 months. I used a macbeth colour chart and also QuickGamma to calibrate it by eye and all my prints seem pretty accurate so far

If you want to learn how to draw girls/people study anatomy.
that's what I'm doing
I'm just simplifying it the whole time because it's for animation
I do see a lot of flaws in these drawings but I put them up anyway because I wanted feedback, specifically about the anatomy. Not vague life advice on what I should practice. Like, for example I know the legs are too short and the crotch is too far down on the one to the left
So you're purposely not doing it properly but you want advice on how to do it properly?
yes
-snip. I'm looking for feedback, not ridicule.
so basically if we're saying you're doing it wrong that's not feedback but ridicule?

rating Saphirx dumb pretty much shows how you're feeling towards any kind of "to understand how cartoons work you need to study real life anatomy first" messages

No, somebody rated me funny. Eh, whatever. I'll just keep working on this stuff by myself because you guys obviously aren't helping

I rated him dumb because he didn't give me any feedback or advice, just a snarky comment. I'm studying anatomy right now so telling me to study it really isn't helping
no. I'm talking about being rated funny and such. Here there's only one rating but i posted it in a different place too
My recommendation:

And Loomi's entire gallery of e-books.
Amazing resources.

Wasn't the third drawing supposed to be amusing some way?
It's difficult to help if you're determined to take everything the wrong way
Forget about animation or any other goal, learn straight up realistic anatomy. By the time you've gotten good at that you'll be able to simplify and play with proportions etc. just fine without much extra work to achieve it.

Funny, I was given the same advice (study anatomy) when I posted my anime drawings on FP.
Study our bone structure etc, how the skull and the rest of it looks like. After that you will have a basic understanding how we work.
You won't get far with your simplified style.
welp here's an animation of a young lady punching and kicking the air for some reason anyway

Her kick seems off. It's like she's kicking on an angle. It be more appropriate if she's kicking directly in front of her.
