Really though, looks as though you drew the back mass of the skull after the face on the right as an afterthought. Either that or you just would benefit from looking at some skulls; it's very shallow, and appears to slope up far too much around the forehead.

Most people just don't appreciate fine art back when the masters didn't use rulers. That was when art was true and pure, not like the shit we see today.
In fact, I think art started deteriorating the moment people started using pencils. And brushes.
And don't get me started on paint or canvases. In fact, the only good art was the art we made before we figured out how to use tools. Those were the real masters, like 'UGH-UGH' and 'OOH-AAH-AAH'. We should have never evolved to begin with.

you used pretty grey and plain palletes, that's one of the main reasons they look bad. I'd probably use more bright highlights aswell
