It looks great, although if you're gonna put your name and tumblr on something like that you should at least handwrite it imo
and give it better spacing from the edge GOSH DARN [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] really nice study(?) though
It looks great, although if you're gonna put your name and tumblr on something like that you should at least handwrite it imo
If it's something like a web address, you want it as legible as possible. Better to just type that imo.
If it's something like a web address, you want it as legible as possible. Better to just type that imo.
it's not that hard to write a web address legibly. typed text on a painting really cheapens it, I think.
Most people just don't appreciate fine art back when the masters didn't use rulers. That was when art was true and pure, not like the shit we see today. In fact, I think art started deteriorating the moment people started using pencils. And brushes. And don't get me started on paint or canvases. In fact, the only good art was the art we made before we figured out how to use tools. Those were the real masters, like 'UGH-UGH' and 'OOH-AAH-AAH'. We should have never evolved to begin with.
You totally missed the point, didn't you? Having a steady hand is essential in arts. No matter if you're Ugh-Ugh or Da Vinci or some guy drawing concept art for an android game. Practicing by drawing lots of shapes in perspective on a big piece of paper does a great job of training your hand-eye coordination. It's really hard in the beginning to draw a straight line between two far-away points and not miss the second point on the first try. And what happens when you practice what's really hard for you? You improve. You will be able to draw complex line-art (which is needed, again, everywhere. Even under oil there's often a construction made with pencils. It is also needed for cross-hatching). Do you improve when you place a ruler between those two points and just slide a pencil across it? I don't think so. You guys attacked me with dumbs like I just murdered someones pet. Just trying to help, jees.
[t]http://imgkk.com/i/ghhi.png[/t] I attempted a thing
Did you use photos?
Did you use photos?
What do you think is a picture on the right?
i hate watermarks E: drawing is really nice tho
It's more of a signature than a watermark and it's perfectly reasonable.
Ye. It's just a signature, and me trying to get my name out there early. Not a big deal imo. Just scroll up so it just barely goes off-screen vOv
It looks great, although if you're gonna put your name and tumblr on something like that you should at least handwrite it imo
I tried writing it by hand at first, but with such a long address and my sub-par handwriting, it turned out too big and/or unreadable. But ye, I can see how it cheapens it.
you're at art school. there's no problem with putting a url on the bottom of a piece of work

Cool, Xepio. You should most def take a step back from doing personal works though, and just do more photostudies, anatomystudies, and foundation stuff. [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] I did one too. Just 2D work.
Cool, Xepio. You should most def take a step back from doing personal works though, and just do more photostudies, anatomystudies, and foundation stuff.
yea i think i've suffered alot of UNIMPROVEMENT due to the lack of any photostudy or even having used a damn reference for something. i made a special folder where ill be putting all the interesting pictures i come across on the internet that i can use as a photostudy [editline]8th January 2013[/editline] also thats alot of fucking improvement on your side holy shit
yeah your photostudies were getting really really good at one point xephio. go back to that!
I'll do one later this week. I'll try to drag out all my old Blender and Maya renders from before I started art school too, which should be interesting! I realised that I could improve a heap more if I did some quick analyses of other artist's work too. Just looking at the piece and writing down how they achieve different effects and noting how they use colour and detail and whatnot. Sometimes just looking for a minute isn't enough; you really need to record what you see in writing and look as hard as you can
i would do one but i dont save any of my work that i'd consider practice hell i even usually throw away sketchbooks once theyre full
i would do one but i dont save any of my work that i'd consider practice hell i even usually throw away sketchbooks once theyre full
art schools love sketchbooks dude what the fuck are you doing
art schools love sketchbooks dude what the fuck are you doing
good thing im already in an art school
did this to motivate myself tbh been having an artblock for days now
I notice that you use a lot of soft gradients in your personal works. Try drawing a bit using hard shading: no gradients, just shadow and non-shadow. Think in planes, and force yourself to define shapes. Other than that, good job.
good thing im already in an art school
You should still hold on to them, I think
i would do one but i dont save any of my work that i'd consider practice hell i even usually throw away sketchbooks once theyre full
I don't know why the heck you would do that. I love having my old stuff to look at, see how I improved. Hell I kept my sketchbooks from 2008 and I love it, since the drawing skill is so terrible its become a joke thing to show new people.
