where's the punchline
In there somewhere I'm sure. We just have to keep looking.
Being a Boards of Canada fanboy, I drew the lads. I realize shading is a bit sloppy, but I normally never shade my work so I'm kinda trying to learn. For one I probably have to watch those overly rounded edges.

she looks p wonky
I think the face is really good but there's a real lack of definition below the head.
Overlapping thing. . . transparency? Alright, I'll give it a shot on my next work. It'd probably help to add some more mid-tones as well, kill some of that contrast.
Whatever you call this [editline]25th February 2013[/editline] I think the technical term is EUGHHYUCKHOWAWFUL
It's not THAT bad. Jeez.

I've been trying to improve on my style recently.
It's not THAT bad. Jeez.
Yeah it is Not talking about his picture in general btw, I specifically mean that hideous banding in the brushstrokes It's vomit
I have to agree. It looks awful when you mix that low opacity, large spacing, and giant brush size together. Makes it look like everything but his face is fading away. [editline]25th February 2013[/editline]
I've been trying to improve on my style recently.
Are these vectors? I'm crazy jealous. I generally know Illustrator, but it's hell for me trying to do complicated illustrations like these.

(idk I'm not a worthy critic) the colors look as if you used four bottles of cheap acrylic paint. [editline]25th February 2013[/editline] Maybe too airbrushy?
[img_thumb]https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc1/858319_4267775423495_1946926428_o.jpg[/img_thumb] countryside sucks dick but try and guess the plane also gimme C&C
The reason it looks wrong is because values are off. Study from real life first. Values are very, very important. Even a painting with rough detail is pleasing to the eye if it has good values Big airbrush, small airbrush, line tools, selection tool, microsoft paint, it will not look good with everything correct except values. They don't have to be realistic. They can be very cartoonish or grimmy, but they need to be correct.
Adding in some direct light would help make it pop a little too.
too much spacing on the brush I'd guess
It's a recurring issue with Gimp as far as I know.
Hastily drawn character design. Sci-fi assassin.
I drew the Anti-Spiral from Gurren Lagann. Yeah.
The effects and shapes are okay, but there is something off about it that I can't tell.. I don't know.. it just does not look dynamic..
Are these vectors? I'm crazy jealous. I generally know Illustrator, but it's hell for me trying to do complicated illustrations like these.
Photoshop, I worked in a ridiculously high dimension. These are zoomed in at 12%
