The worst part is, his "simple" roommates actually sound really fucking understanding, like they might not get what exactly he's doing but they try and keep quiet anyway. While this dude just shit talks them behind his back.
yeah my point was it isn't interesting to watch people play video games. so it turns into a gimmick of who can jump through walls faster. i think you missed what i was getting at. this video illustrates my point more than anything hah (that speed runs are not interesting) sorry i struck a nerve i know the speed run community is very passionate like that guy who cried when he beat zelda 2 milliseconds faster than some other guy
I respect your opinion cause I know people that don't understand the speedrun community but it's the same thing every speedrun thread: post speedrun thread -> someone says speedruns are stupid -> argument begins and it's the same back-and-forth argument every single time why can't we all be friends and let whoever's interested in speedruns enjoy and discuss it without having to read reasons why speedrunning sucks
i wish it were as common for everybody to talk about the game as much as cosmo/narcissa i dont want to hear about your roommate i wanna hear about what you're doing in the game
Wow what a dick. I bet his room mates eyes glaze over when he talks about streaming because they don't really give a fuck but are just asking out of good manners..

I suppose the thing is though that when streaming for hours and running the game multiple times during that they can't really explain what's happening every time, as it would be annoying for them, and probably would throw them off when trying to do stuff.
I actually know a handful of people who considered themselves supreme in every way. In terms of music, in hobbies, in how they look and that they have come to the conclusion that most girls are just soooo dumb that they only hang out with dumb guys who hang around the gym all day because they are just as dumb as they are and that they cannot comprehend to be with someone who is smarter then them. It felt like some of those /r/redpill guys or something.
is this something people actually do? i don't want to bore people with stuff so what can i do in that situation?
Then explain it in a fun way.

Perhaps his roommates should see that part.
is this something people actually do? i don't want to bore people with stuff so what can i do in that situation?
Well I can't speak for everyone but I certainly caught myself doing that. Like asking people about how their work was and nodding my head but I'm thinking of something completely different in my head. I want to hear if it was generally "good" or "okay", not a monologue on how your boss is a dick or something. It's not because I'm slow or can't understand what you are saying, it can also be because the topic in general is boring, or you're bad at explaining things. Of course I'm gonna lose interest if you say "Ughh.." more than a rap hype man. Best thing to do is be brief and try to make it funny. If they are looking in your eyes, smiling and asking genuine questions then they are actually interested in the conversation and you can elaborate in more detail. If the person you are talking to are staring blankly to the floor or a wall and only says "Yeah..." "Okay..." or is just repeating the last thing you've said then clearly they are not interested. In that situation you should either change the subject or wait for the person you are chatting to to do it because it's likely they have something else on their mind.
backpedelling
backpedelling? that doesn't even make any fucking sense do you even understand what that means?
Speedruns are only really interesting with commentary otherwise the entire thing is just someone bouncing around the map and you learn nothing new
as someone who attempted speedrunning but gave up quickly speedrunning can be fucking hard, often requiring precise key inputs or pixel perfect accuracy. of course this all depends on the game but there's a lot to it. especially if you're routing the speedruns yourself.
It's kind of a shame that his roommates seem really chill and are having get-togethers literally behind his wall, and instead of joining in once in a while, he prefers shutting himself in his room, playing video games and trash-talking them in the most condescending way. People with these kinds of superiority complexes are the worst.

Sure there's a debate to be had about what is a "legit" speed run. But as I see it it comes down to the fact that if you start forbidding exploits and shortcuts, it becomes arbitrary and in the end nobody will agree what is legit and what not, or even be able to determine it themselves.

ill admit my posts got argumentative after ott's and I mean no disrespect to people who enjoy this. im not saying 'stop liking what i don't like' it's just bizarre when people will still watch these even when the person doing the speedrun is someone you'd never want to hang out with in real life. i apologize if i seem like a dick because i just genuinely don't get it (glitch/TAS type speedruns - i understand normal speedruns but who has time to watch 13 hours of youtube footage i guess thats why). i have a hard time even watching people who are entertaining play video games normally like that guy hamst3r or whatever his name was. some people are just ready to argue when something they like is called into question. theres just certain communities seem very defensive because it's a niche interest and theyre always being criticized so like i said theyre just ready to argue. i guess ill just have to avoid these topics like my little pony and fursuit threads
Anyone who's lived in a college dorm knows how this guy feels. Since the majority of the people living in the dorms are the "yea sports woo!" type, you generally get an atmosphere with lots of loud music and disregard for privacy.
Also, impressive nontheless.
Considering Oblivion can be beaten in 17 minutes and Skyrim in 34 minutes, not really.
But his room mates are too stupid to know what streaming on the internet is.
I wonder if this is his actual thinking, kind of stupid to chat shit about your roommates when anyone who knows them could point it out. [sp]Should not be posting while tired, fucked up this post 5 times oops[/sp]

I don't think that's very likely.
I'm foreseeing a future issue with his roommates being shown this video. It's going to happen.
