The point is that I still don't have any money.
Some records stores have hundreds of used cds (in very good condition) being sold for 4 dollars or less, you must be one poor motherfucker [editline]02:13PM[/editline] I once picked up almost ten cds for 20 dollars
I have a pretty full NIN collection, I'm missing 3 singles and that's it I think. Oh and CLOSER on VHS but fuck that. [editline]10:14PM[/editline]
I would buy music if I could afford it :(
Get a job son.
I have a pretty full NIN collection, I'm missing 3 singles and that's it I think. Oh and CLOSER on VHS but fuck that.
You should get those three cds and sell the entire NIN discography on ebay for hundreds of dollars to spend on a wider variety of music
I started buying music off iTunes, but now I've started buying CD's again just for the collection feel. I feel better buying a CD from a less known band than getting their music off iTunes, just feels different. :s

I tend to buy a cd, never open it, and then download it. For some reason I seem to think that one day my cds will be worth something.

If you think the latest billboard top 10 cd or the latest Eminem album are going to be worth high prices in the future, you're probably going to be wrong (those are two very popular artists, whose work won't go OOP for a while). If you're looking at bands and artists who are popular enough to have a big fanbase yet indie enough to have a hard time finding a good label, then you may be holding something that will be worth a lot in the future. [editline]02:34PM[/editline] Limited editions are another surefire way to get a profit off of a cd

But when I go to local shows here with indie bands, I buy two of each cd.

I dont buy. :/ I would maybe if i could buy Japanese but meh.. You cant.. o.o
Records, yo.
I tend to buy a CD, check out the neato artwork and whatever, then download the same album on a torrent and never touch the CD again (except for long roadtrips) My computer always makes songs skip horribly when ripping from a CD.
Second hand cd shops bro. They're usually still in really good condition
I would if my city wasn't redneck-ville. The closest thing we have to a record store is Best-Buy. Why was I cursed to live in Georgia?
Burned Cds and music off of Itunes just doesn't cut it for me. As soon as I actually started buying music from Amazon.com it feels good to have the cover art, lyrics and the actual CD itself. I can't really afford to buy a shit load of music though.
I would if my city wasn't redneck-ville. The closest thing we have to a record store is Best-Buy. Why was I cursed to live in Georgia?
I feel for you, I call this place Hilljack Heaven because we're in the middle of nowhere with these rednecks, that's why I buy my shit from the internet.
I have a huge music collection but probably an 8% are in disc. The are several occasions when i would actually buy one. If i can't find the album through any digital service. I have to have in MP3 constant bit rate at 320kbps (I would buy just to rip in that format myself). Deluxe versions with extra tracks. If the price online is no different to the one in store. If i find it cheaper in store. Decent albums for show. Explicit versions which is hardly a problem anyway. Never for covers and shit. I never buy off itunes either. I just don't like the whole aspect of it with it's poor bitrates too. EDIT: Oh, FLAC can FUCK -OFF.
I never buy off itunes either. I just don't like the whole aspect of it with it's poor bitrates too. EDIT: Oh, FLAC can FUCK -OFF.
iTunes is decent now: 256 kbps is almost cd quality. What's wrong with FLAC?
iTunes is decent now: 256 kbps is almost cd quality. What's wrong with FLAC?
All the CDs I have are 900-2000 kbps so I wouldn't say that's nearly CD quality. It's no real secret that I've pirated music before but I have every intention of rebuilding my collection with CDs, I've already started, got a few going and damn the quality is so much better than the mp3 equivalent, legit or pirated. I usually rip them in FLAC, yes you heard me.
FLAC!? You rebel!
As many CDs can I can! My CD collection is getting bigger and bigger everyday. I prefer LPs though, even if they are a bitch to ship. What noise do audiophiles make when they masturbate? FLAC FLAC FLAC.
I have a fair collection of CDs. But a ton I don't listen to anymore.
Who here wants a portable FLAC player?
I usually buy CDs for albums that I already have the MP3s for and if it's a band that I really enjoy.
Who here wants a portable FLAC player?
I think Rockbox can play FLAC files. I remember I had some really high quality music on my 5th gen ipod when I had rockbox on it...
I have a great CD store downtown. I used to order a lot of CD's. I'ma go down there and get some Joe Pass.
I bought a load of limited edition NIN singles so when the going gets tough I flog them on Ebay for 10 times what I paid for them. And I wouldn't be the first to do so... Also does anyone rebuy special edition CDS ? Par example, I bought the original The Blackening and Era Vulgaris and then proceeded to buy the special editions simply because they looked cool. Anyone else do this ?
I buy my cd's when I can afford them, I've got about 15 cd's or so in my collection, I buy them from a local store, the guy who owns the store orders all the cd's I want to buy if he doesn't have them in stock.
