PSA: Don't buy your dog from a commercial pet store. Also involved: puppy mills.

I'm confused about the OP. If the mills and pet stores are so fucking terrible to the dogs, wouldn't it be a good thing to get them away from their sick fuck salespeople?
We got both our kitties from local pet stores. :3:
My dogs came from the streets.
I've rescued 2 basset's, 3 chihuahua's, a retriever (swear to god this dog was 120 pounds and thought it was a lap dog.) and a chocolate lab. I've still got the chocolate and the basset's, I love them all so much.
Not all of them buy them from puppy mills, there are some who buy puppies/kittens from people who need to get rid of them.

That is what my family did to get our cats. In fact my younger cat we got for free.
Just remember: Some shelters could be mills in disguise.

Thats how easy it is to domesticate a dog.
Show them love, give them food. They'll repay the favor by being a loyal companion till they die.

It always pays to look into the shelter or store before you buy. Any animal cruelty charges, dropped or not, will be online.
I got my dog from a breeder... It has epilepsy. :keke:

O RLY?
must be pretty crazy having a dog with epilepsy.
My mother got a dog for 1 buck (it's a law?) completely random on a street because it apparently had a bad heart. It didn't.

Watching a dog have a seizure is one of the worst experiences I have had in recent memory.
Good post. ALWAYS adopt from a rescue shelter. There are so many beautiful animals you can pick up for free which have had a poor life previously that it seems ridiculous to bring more into the world.

Yeah it's horrible. She has them once every month or so. Very very sad thing to see.
I got a 2 or 3 year old black lab that was rescued from a puppy mill, she was skinny when we got her but now shes bulked up. Happiest dog i've ever saw, whenever I walk into her proximity her tail starts wagging, it's actually a bit of an issue since shes always knocking things off low tables or whacking people in the shins.
Here's said dog, and her weapon of mass destruction.

Looks like it has whipping power.
I have 4 dogs. two are mutts and the other two are pure breed, but were being tossed out. one of the mutts was a Hurricane Katrina survivor. I like mutts more than pure breeds anyway.
I make my dogs myself

Tails are painful....
Got my dog from a local breeder. Well she's considered a local breeder, but in reality it's the same parents just giving birth multiple times to like 6 puppies a time. So she was giving them out and we took one.
She's had 3 or 4 batches of them now. Love my puppy.
I always get dogs from rescue centres.

I'm going to get a Pug(Hopefully) soon, From a rescue centre nearby. my mother knows the owner and she's gonna ask her if she has one available soon.
This is why I like working at a local petshop. All the breeders are nice people and sell really good animals, so we get smart customers.

My black lab smacks its tail against stuff so hard it starts to bleed.
He keeps wagging it...

Do they even have feeling in their tails?

Love? how do you love an animal?

Obviously not the way you do it.

My Rottweiler has a tail like that. It's a shame some people think that Rottweilers are naturally violent, Mine is the most friendly, happy dog I know.
Oh, and she was pretty much a rescue. When we got her, she was very skinny and we were told that she "hunted for food", but the sellers only had a small back yard that didn't even have grass. She still seems very food orientated compared to other dogs, but shes getting over that.
This thread makes me :(
Why is it always like that, that People give more attention to puppies dying then to other Humans?
on that note, why is it that if a child or baby dies its more of a big deal than an adult dying?
