Congrats on finding something semi-interesting in Michigan. This place can be a real snooze-fest at times.
I had no idea what urbex was until this. I want to try it!
I've always been fascinated with urbex. There's an old abandoned paper mill in my town that I've been just dying to go in.

do it.....NOW!
The last pic of "You can JUMP!!" made me giggle.
turn around
fuck that
I'm thinking about doing this for an abandoned mental asylum which is near me, the place is so scary it was on Britain's Most Haunted not so long ago.

I would wanna try that out
I'm gonna give this Urbex thing a shot, I have a couple of abandoned schools and a drainage system in my town. Wish me luck and i'l try and convince my girlfriend to bring her camera.
There's a strange beauty to it.

OP, did you wear a respirator while you were there? Judging by this photograph, there was probably asbestos in the air.
had one didnt use it (much except in a higher floor during crawling in some shafts) that area was all concrete.
How comes when I make urbex threads (i've made loads) it takes me less than 5 minutes to resize over a hundred images? Try Prish Resizer. It's what I use and it does the job pretty well.
well i never knew about that and I still prefer to keep my stuff full sized
also yeah if there is a place you can urbex at do it, it's great fun even if you get caught, so just go for it. this place is in the middle of detroit for gods-sake and it's easy as hell to get caught doing it there so it's
extremely risky to go there, let alone me doing it once and getting away only to get caught the second time because the stairs we used to go down were more exposed.

Also if those shafts had asbestos in them you would have got it on your clothes and then inhaled it later once you had taken the masks off.

As long as he wasn't swinging around on the pipes and licking them there's nothing to worry about.

Yes, keep your stuff full sized, but have smaller versions for posting on forums. I keep all my full sized pictures on my computer then delete the smaller versions when I'm done posting the thread. How do you know they have asbestos in them?
The shafts weren't asbestos that's for sure (Just like maintenance), i had the mask for the dust then, and if it's asbestos I honestly don't give a fuck because I feel fine and that was my SECOND time going there and in total I've spent over ten hours in that place and I'm not dead, and B-Hazard just bugger off already.
You're more of a man than I. I wouldn't be anywhere in Detroit at night.

Is that cane hill?
This guy has hundreds of pictres of that place, but large parts of it have been demolished in the past few years so I'm not sure whats left worth exploring. But theres the intact World War 2 bunker a 2 minute walk away which is worth a look.

To be fair to b-hazard, asbestos takes 20 years to have any effect on the body and just one exposure to it can kill, but I doubt you inhaled any.
I just really doubt the building had much of it in the air to me to be exposed to it if any for it to be a problem. The building has been basically taken apart over the 20 plus years it's been abandoned
I also doubt it had enough, you have to physically disturb it to disperse the dust, so my point still stands - as long as you didn't touch any and make the dust fly around you'll be fine.

People would break into the buildings and underground utility tunnels and steal all of the copper wires and pipes. As a result, the floor of the tunnels were literally covered with broken asbestos pipe insulation.
Me and a friend did some Urbex in an old factory near my house. It turned out smackheads used it and there were fucking needles everywhere. Never tip-toed so much in my life.
Maybe I'll take some pictures of the place, or maybe not.
I love the old station, I've been to it a few times, it's quite nice.
you sure like the word baby
