I love the old station, I've been to it a few times, it's quite nice.
from dearborn? aw yeah son
from dearborn? aw yeah son
haha yeah dude!
I have always wanted to do this, but there is the risk of getting arrested
The only thing to 'Urbex' in my town is an old ass grain silo that's as big as the room you're currently in, and building that mysteriously collapsed in half two years ago RIGHT next to the local police station.
It would invest in a low end DLSR for stuff like this. You could get some incredible photo's with manual controls. Decent ones go for like $350 and up. You can probably find one for cheaper if you look around.
snip wrong fucking thread, sorry guys :v:
and last but not least, these. http://cortex.dlhuskey.com/nerds/agu-pics/urbex/trainstation/DSCN1793.JPG http://cortex.dlhuskey.com/nerds/agu-pics/urbex/trainstation/DSCN1791.JPG http://cortex.dlhuskey.com/nerds/agu-pics/urbex/trainstation/DSCN1799.JPG and heres a link to the whole thing because i wanted to leave that last because its funny, LINK TO DUMP also i got arrested leaving doing this for trespassing on railroad property. so yeah. all this for you guys.
You're lucky you even got in. You shouldn't even be there haha. The support beams in the basement can give out any moment. I have a friend that does inspections for the city, and I went in there with him to check everything. This was about 6 months ago. If the building doesn't collapse within the next 2 years, the city will rig charges to the 12 main support beams in the basement to bring it down.
I also doubt it had enough, you have to physically disturb it to disperse the dust, so my point still stands - as long as you didn't touch any and make the dust fly around you'll be fine.
To be fair with the condition of the asbestos in a lot of the photos, the fact that theres a lot on the floor I think he got exposed to it, and that he spent over 10 hours in there, I think he got exposed to it. A lot of the roof's that weren't like, you know the main 'roof' roof were just falling on themselves, place is awful in some areas.

I don't see anything which is asbestos in the first picture and although the bit of green panel may be/may contain it, the stuff he's standing on isn't.

And to me the stuff next to his foot looks like a fallen piece of pipe insulation.
you know you being here talking about it isn't going to change the fact I don't give two shit's if it was or wasn't and that I went there twice and that it still happened. but thanks for all the bumps [editline]3rd January 2011[/editline] let me add for a fact i know the place has asbestos alright? [editline]3rd January 2011[/editline] [img_thumb]http://cortex.dlhuskey.com/nerds/agu-pics/urbex/trainstation/DSCN1655.JPG[/img_thumb] dont you just want to lick it b-hazard?
Look at the pipe, Asbestos in very bad condition is hanging down from it. Stop jumping to conclusions about everything grey being asbestos. Stop posting.
also i resized all the pictures and updated all the posts because i remembered the AWESOME tool bengley posted thanks
It's much better now, well done! After looking through them all properly now, the only ones I would be concerned about asbestos-wise are the ones you have taken with flash and the flash has lit the dust particles up in the air. There is a lot of dust there and I'm sure some of it is probably asbestos, they don't put that warning there for no reason! You'll probably be fine, but it's probably a good idea to wear a respirator if there's excessive dust/asbestos warnings. My point still stands though, B-hazard, stop fucking worrying about it so much... you've always done it when I go exploring with you and it's VERY VERY FUCKING ANNOYING.
I agree with this but I really don't worry about it at all, there was barely anything around other then the pipe shit and I've looked on other forums about the place asbestos wise and whatever, the only place that was like that was the basement and yeah. I am asbestos man
This is really cool stuff.
I am asbestos man!
Why am I now having visions of a crime-fighting asbestos-breathing superhero who protects abandoned buildings from destruction?
I always wanted to visit this station. At least I have 4 abandoned mental hospitals here on Long Island. One of them is actually the biggest hospital of any type ever constructed, so that should keep me occupied for a while.
shitty video of basement bump
id love to urbex except im in louisina so id probaly be kill by a demon zombie or some thing
http://cortex.dlhuskey.com/nerds/agu...n/DSCN1732.JPG Digging the reference in this one. I wish I could explore around LA, but no one I know wants to come along. And I cannot for the life of me find any buildings that are interesting at all. They're all abandoned office buildings which yield nothing besides hobo refuse and shitty tags. The only interesting buildings are covered 24/7 by police.
urbex is pretty much impossible in LA, but dude, you got other stuff too; the coast has a lot of old public works bridges from the 30s that are neat to see, and the desert has a lot of ghost towns and such, which a lot of people dont get to see. lots safer too.
The fog or whatever in the fourth picture looks awesome.
that was me breathing, it was fucking cold and i kept doing that, i think some shots are like that then i noticed it and retook them. Or that was at a different place like a week before, either way that's my soul
Watch out for bloodsuckers. Also I feel like dressing up as a stalker and wandering around down there.
I love this building. It's a shame that the city broad is trying to get it knocked down.
