mmm gerbers are gorgeous knives
This thread is plain beautiful. I used to have a few around, not sure where they got off to, however.
no pictures of it but I have a Paraframe II I take with me whenever I go outdoorsing. I love it. I also use a straight razor to shave because I find it much more satisfying (and I don't cut myself with it nearly as much)
I've had one of those since i was 11. Mother bought me one as a gift because at the time i essentially lived in the woods and needed it to cut through thin brush. These aren't deep woods, just common woods, i didn't need a kukri.
this b*tch makes me horny

Sometimes size just doesn't matter.
I don't think this technically counts as a knife, but the edges are still pretty sharp, and they really hurt... Plus if you get the long ones you can use them like a sword.
nah you need the big ones so you can wedge them between your fingers and pretend you're wolverine for a lil bit [editline]8th March 2013[/editline] @mystery
Well, I still don't care for liner locks but maybe one day I'll find a liner lock knife that I like. I don't even trust my life with my trident because of how loose the lock is, that's why I still carry my recon 1 just in case I end up in a life threatening situation.
Just as an example, on the SMF, the lock side is one piece of titanium that is 1/8" thick, and is reinforced by a stabilizer. The bottom of the blade where the lock engages is cut at an angle and finely serrated horizontally to prevent forward and back movement when engaged. Lastly, the way the lock is cut, it doesn't matter which hand the knife is held in, a proper grip will push the lock deeper into the angle on the blade, strengthening the locks hold on the blade.

Once it fell off my table in school and my hand tries to instinctively catch it. What happens is that it doesn't fall flat on the floor, but stands up for a few moments. During that moment my hand comes and jams down on the sharp edge. Results? An opening between the ring finger and the pinkie where I could see my the muscles and I think tendons.

Here's a paring knife I recently put together (next to my Cold Steel hawk) The handle is curly maple, the blade is a Green River blade blank, gun blued. it was only 12 bucks so I thought what the hell, turned out to be a really handy blade. I want to make some sort of Scandi style sheath for it.

So much knife fetishism ITT Particuarly this post:
Just as an example, on the SMF, the lock side is one piece of titanium that is 1/8" thick, and is reinforced by a stabilizer. Happens a lot with cheaper balisongs, I've had many explode on me in the past, you'd think I'd learn.
I have a survival knife my dad gave me. It's from the 60's, and includes a compass, whet stone in the sheathe, and the matches, fish hooks, fishing line, and other goodies in the handle. No pics, but i can take some if you guy's want me to.
Is your dad Big Boss?
Happens a lot with cheaper balisongs, I've had many explode on me in the past, you'd think I'd learn.
I want to get a nicer one. Any recommendations? I'd love a Benchmade, but they seem to run around $300.
