As easy as this movie is to make fun of, I totally cannot wait to see it in a theater.
The Hobbit was the only Middle Earth book I could fully read. :v: Every other one is just so in depth about Middle Earth that my mind wanders off. heh, a lot of people are bitching about how the Dwarves look on the web. They're saying that if it isn't just like Gimli with dirt covered rusty shit all over them that it's "not faithful to the books and horrible" Maybe my memory is distorted, but Tolkien doesn't describe the Dwarves where they all have beards down to the floor and are covered in Goblin shit and are all obese. He leaves a bit to the imagination. These are posed images anyways. In the movie their outfits will look more real and all will be forgiven once they all start fighting eachother. It's a movie so they've got to look unique anyhow.
I once tried to read The Hobbit but couldn't get past the beginning with the dwarfs...
The only thing that makes me nervous about the movie is that I'm worried that my nostalgic memories of the 1977 version are going to have too much of an influence on my judgment of this film.

I loved the lord of the ring, however they didnt show much of the dwarfen culture. There was a lot of elves in the movies but i missed the dwarfs. I hope this movie changes that. Dwarfs are my favorite race out of the four main. And from looking on the pics above me, i cant wait!
Amazing, I've never heard of a single one of those actors. It will be great, no doubt.
Heh, dwarves look silly. I'd forgotten how many of them were in this book.
I read the book this week. I don't know why friends (who had to read it in grade school growing up) said it was boring. I was expecting ye olde English and a slow moving story. I hope the movies are good though. They are looking like they will be

Gloin really has that Gimli look, which is awesome considering Gloin is his dad. This movie will be so awesome.
My only gripe about the dwarves is the technique they use to make them look small just make them look sorta like hobbits with beards. I always thought they needed to be thicker and more stout looking. It was the same in the LotR films though. Small gripe though.
I'm interested to see how they do Smaug.
Hhng, trying to discuss The Hobbit with hardcore HP fans. "Lol it will just drag as much as the LOTR movies and no one will watch them" "Haha peter jackson trying to make a mature version of a children's book haha laughable" :smith: And to top it all; "I haven't read them but I've heard that both The Hobbit and LOTR are atrocious books so that explains something"
YES
Imo Harry Potter is a children's book waay more than lotr. I couldn't never take the HP movies seriously.

Can't say the same for LOTR, though.
As I'm reading the book, I'm glad Peter decided to split into 2 movies. Otherwise it would've been awfully crammed.
Spoiler: [sp]It's gonna be epic[/sp] I just talk to my friend in the other day about this movie, we decid to wear a fedora at the cinema while watching The Hobbit
fedora? why? dress as gandalf.
Everyone in the theater will be Gandalf. No one will be able to see the movie past the wizard hats. Also I just watched all the LotR movies again, and I have to say I really hope Jackson stops with the "slow mo" shit (its not smooth slow motion, it's like he took film that was the same framerate as the rest and slowed that down, resulting in some low FPS bad shots). If he wants to do slow motion get a slow motion camera
I'm pretty sure it will be filmed at 48fps. I seem to remember reading that somewhere.
I'm pretty sure it will be filmed at 48fps. I seem to remember reading that somewhere.
Normal movie FPS: 24 (or 23.997 or something insanely close anyway), and since it's filmed in 3D 2x 24 = 48
I'm pretty sure it will be filmed at 48fps. I seem to remember reading that somewhere.
Either way if you take even say something filmed at 60 and slow that down to 1/12th time, you end up with footage that is 5 frames per second. It looks bad
The faux slow motion scenes in LotR were not nearly that slow. There is no reason to believe that they would be that slow in The Hobbit either.
I know, it was an over exaggerated example to prove a point that it looks bad
Really can't wait for this film, not really sure I like the way the dwarves look, but perhaps that will change when I see them actually in the film rather than just photos.
