2009
I need to watch TV more often
An eye for an eye, motherfucker.
If karma would exist, certain people would be dead by now. And they are not dead.
Wow, the karma took my Steam account.
Hi, my name is Earl....
I miss that :saddowns:
Me too...
Nothing against OP, but speaking on karma in general, doing good things so that good things will happen to you seems kinda sneaky.
Karma doesn't really apply unless you believe in samsara.. what you're describing is just a self-fulfilling prophecy (oh, I did something nice so the next nice thing that happens will be a result of karma), luck or at very most, reciprocity.
Lol wow if your motivation for doing nice things is because you believe you will get nice things in return, you are doing it for all the wrong reasons buddy.
Karma isn't real in that the universe makes it equal, because to the universe, there are no good or bad actions, but there is in a way human karma. If you do nice things, people will like you better and do nice things for you. But I have seen many cases where that's not true, where people are nice to jerks, or mean to nice people.
If you are nice then people will like you and enjoy your company and do nice things for you. If you're a dick, no one wants a dick in their face. There is no karma, being nice just makes people like you and being an asshole just get shit back in your face by other people who you are a dick to.
Not in High School :smith:
Not in High School :smith:
In Highschool, the nice people are dicks. And the dicks... You don't wanna run into the dicks.
At work, i would help other employees or managers when i'm not doing nothing or do extra stuff i'm not required. But still get shitty hours. Karma is bullshit 90% of the time and the 10% that it's works it just makes you want to get another 10%
I dont think getting the car has anything to do with you doing nice things but good for you op.
karma is fake
I do selfless deeds to help others and make them feel good. I don't do anything for my own gain. I guess that put a hole in your logic.
why do you like helping others and making them feel good?
having that tingly feeling inside when you do something good.
is my guess
You shouldn't be a good person because you might get something in return, that's not being a good person it's a form of manipulation. You should be a good person because it's a good thing to do
Op proves there are no such things as selfless deeds, if a person does something good for others it's purely for selfish reasons. Either for karma to pay them back, afraid of going to hell, or having that tingly feeling inside when you do something good.
That idea is a self fulfilling prophecy, in the fact that if you believe everyone to be acting selfishly then it is impossible for someone to act selfless. If every action done is to receive something gratifying in return, then what could charity possibly be? Can you even imagine something that would be charitable if every action was selfish? If you can't imagine a difference between a selfless and selfish act, then clearly one can't be possible (here's a hint, it's that all actions ARE NOT SELFISH). You are looking to prove that all actions are selfish and saying it's impossible to prove otherwise. Your reasoning is circular and impossible to prove wrong, therefore defeating your little philosophical bout there.
karma seems nice as an idea and if you want to believe in it go ahead but if you look at it from a realistic standpoint there's just no way it can possibly exist at all too many horrible people do too many bad things and get away with it all the time, it's always happened and always will happen (usually the rich and powerful) [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] conversely, there are wonderful people that dedicate their lives to... being wonderful people and helping others, and they get nothing for it I guess you could argue that they get the satisfaction of helping others and being good people, but fuck that that never bought anyone a ferrari
I act like the last one but I'm really the first one... My karma is broken
I wrote an essay a few days ago explaining why doing good things for the sake of people doing good things back, is the most rational cause for being nice. I'm not saying altruism/benevolence don't exist, but they're irrational. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Evolution_of_Cooperation It's fascinating stuff.
[img_thumb]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ru/thumb/d/dc/Manbull200.jpg/426px-Manbull200.jpg[/img_thumb] By the laws of karma he who eats meat has bad karma and will get eaten in afterlife.
So technically if I eat a plant, a plant will eat me in the afterlife? I guess we should just all starve then Oh wait, Karma is for faggots, and the dumbasses who came up with the concept clearly didn't possess the intelligence to understand plants are living creatures who register pain as well, so ergo fuck you karma you are full of shit [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] munching on a juicy fucking steak [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] I think I'll cook up some chicken later too.

I'm perfectly calm. Infact I've been maintaining this wonderfully blank look on my face for about the past hour.
Karma only exists as a mechanic that dictates how quickly or how often (or how long) people attack you in video games.
I don't follow any religion myself, but I have found that doing nice things has kept me out of trouble. Keep your head down and be polite.
That's not karma though that's just you keeping out of trouble. Karma is a supposed cosmic force. Nothing cosmic about you hiding.
I exploited my school's network and received an unconditional university offer on the same day. Karma is not real.
