As a Scot I used to be Unionist. But the growing anti-Scottish attitude since the SNP came to power makes me want to vote independance. I'm sick and tired of being called a leech and people saying that Scots are too stupid or unable for one reason or another to make their own way in the world. I want out of the Union. Maybe the English do pay for us. If thats the case then I'd rather pay more and stand on my own two feet than listen to all this nastiness.

I think the English opinion of Scotland has been tainted by the media up there, I know I don't believe that and neither do most of us in the south.
The problem I see with the SNP is that they're promoting Independence by painting the UK in a bad light, instead of just giving reasons why Scotland would be better separate. Their campaigns for independence probably hurt relations between Scotland and the UK more than independence its self would.

I've never heard anyone call Scottish people leeches or too stupid. Perhaps your media is twisting England's popular opinion on Scotland.

I've never claimed England is better off without Scotland. I have no strong opinion on this one way or the other but Britain benefits from Scotland just like Scotland benefits from being part of Britain. If they are seperated, those benefits are gone for both sides.

To be honest, Salmond has twisted this situation in a way that makes England seem tainted and racist. Back in the riots he decided to pretty much add insult to injury by stating that that Scotland wouldn't suffer under the riots because it has a “different society”.
The same country that has at least two Football teams who base themselves on religion and creed. And this is coming from an Englishman who lives in Scotland.
Scotland are very very incredibly stupid if they decide to do it. One question I have: would the Queen still be monarch of Scotland?

Yes, what you need to do is cause a techtonic fissure at Hadrian's Wall to cause Scotland to float into the North Sea, and eventually crash into Norway.

I know what you mean, I love little facts like that.
Like Canada is the second largest country geographically, but has the 36th highest population. If you moved everybody in Australia to Canada, the UK would still have a slightly higher population. It's just because of population density.
