It's an old Gillette factory near me, been abandoned for a while.
Anyone know the real laws of trespassing in the UK? What are the police meant to do if someone is caught trespassing on private land, but not causing damage or carrying anything illegal?
They'll blow their whistles at you :ohdear:

I bought a GP5 gas mask for a Halloween costume, it came with like 10 free filters, will they filter asbestos?
Keep using GD for now, if Hezzy deems it needs it's own section it'll get one.
OP should add this, well, to the OP
ONe og the few guides that has helped me, I'm impressed.
Does anyone know the possible consequence of being caught trespassing on (hopefully) abandoned military property? There are some old installations in the woods here that were supposedly used by the American Military (I'm Canadian) during the cold war to detect missile launches. (Just a rumour, but I'd like to see for myself) These sites are gated but not fenced entirely, and are quite close to the highway should a quick escape be necessary.
However, there's a small but active military base in the area that could be still monitoring cameras and motion sensors set up all over the place.
Should I get caught, could "I was just walking through the woods and saw this place, didn't see any fences or signs! I'll leave!" work as a valid excuse, or would I end up in jail?
I was planning on starting urbex in the near future. This guide probably saved my life, half the things in there I would've done wrong.

Depends on the age of the filters, if they are less than 10 years old they should be ok, but if not they will probably be harmful anyway, I would probably advise just buying a new P3 40mm filter for it, they are cheap cause your just buying the filter.
I'd still bring some weed, just hide it.
Also Pipe > Bong in that situation, hide it somewhere
That or have a mad session before leaving

When I was exploring the abandoned mental hospital we found a room full of used needles strewn on the floor, forgot to take a photo though. I think my friend my have caught it on the video. Anyway you're an idiot if you take drugs with you Urban Exploring.
Probably not a good idea.
I mean I can't thread straight whacked and I don't think exploring a new enviroment stoned would be a good idea.
I have trouble putting music on my PSP afterwards which is a simple task
Unless you're breathing in aspestos over a long period of time, shit wont happen and you don't really need a mask.
If you're in abandoned buildings every day, sure. But even one single highly concentrated exposure is extremely unlikely to give you disease.
It's like smoking, only far far worse.

Here's some asbestos we found, I even walked over that shit, didn't realise until I looked over the photographs. I thought they were those Styrofoam ceiling tiles, but I think they melt in fires and these obviously haven't.

you can get mesothelioma with one stray fibre kiddo.
I've worn coveralls and particle masks before, it gets in your clothes, your hair, your skin, it's not nice, and often you can't see the tiny fibres cruising around in the air you're breathing

Shite, really?
Up here there are dudes who work with the shit nearly every day when they renovate and stuff.
Sucks for them.
sure it's asbestos? the govt. here has a pretty tough stance on it (because all the life insurance claims from past industry) -- you see places get totally decommissioned as soon as a building's structure is deemed 'unsound' (as in there's particles airborne in areas of use)
there have been reports of people getting it only after a few months of having an exposure to asbestos - i don't like to push my luck, especially when i'm doing it a fair bit (and wanna keep doing it hey)
Bump for awesomeness.
Doing more Urbex this weekend.
There's no abandoned buildings around here and I wouldn't want to get killed so you won't see me exploring abandoned buildings any time soon.
Can anyone post more of their photos please? I would really like to see them.

in Google and my threads should come up.
For getting caught you forgot Situation 3:
Get caught, police question you, set free without more than a slap on the wrist.
You'd be surprised that it happens more often than not.
Big-ass concrete facility near me, they made beams for bridges and shit. The offices seem to be used (I've seen a car there once or twice) but the warehouse and storage yard don't. Easily covers 15 acres or more.
You have to be careful though, as druggies and homeless people can be a real threat.
I was doing UrbEx in my town for my photography class in an abandoned 3 story mansion on the edge of Bulldog territory when a junkie looking man with a bat suddenly came exploding out of the bedroom. I ended up sticking my pocket knife in his stomach [and leaving it there] and jumping out of a second story window [rolled my ankle a bit] and limping away, calling the police.
I got a 500 dollar fine for trespassing and the judge ordered that all of my records [meaning film photos] were destroyed which sucked. He said I was lucky I got to keep my camera.
But almost all of it is shit.
Then you live in a town that has a very small but skilled group.
Where I live, the best art you see is on train cars and in abandoned buildings. Even then, when the artist had hours, it is about 1 good piece of art for every 10 people that signed their name or wrote FUCK.

I live in LA haha, I see both but I mainly see good pieces. Bad unclean pieces come from toys that just started which could be anywhere
