The only airsoft place around me is only a CQB field, with 5-10 regulars every saturday.
Compared to my previous location I used to live in, having two places with 30-50 regulars each saturday. I also own an SVD with upgraded springs, and a KWA blowback with no mags.

So I fucked up really badly a few years ago on the only airsoft gun I own and I ran walmart BBs through it because I didn't realize that there was a difference at the time. I think the gearbox might be fucked. Should I attempt to shoot proper BBs through it, or should I have the gun repaired/buy a new gun?

gearbox won't be affected much by bad BBs, but the barrel and hop unit might be

Just aim it at an object and listen for an impact noise against said object, Or listen to how it sounds when it shoots, If it sound really rough like metal hitting plastic, then it's not firing. If it sounds soft and "poofy" then it's probably all good.
Possible bad bb damage if it doesn't fire or fires badly: Torn hop up rubber or broken gearbox nozzle.

try searching your symptoms on google, then find posts on forums with problems similiar to yours. i've kind of had this happen to me. it might be your piston failing or your gearbox locking up.

adjust your motor height, disassemble and make sure that all of the wiring is fine (trigger contacts,motor hookups, gears etc) and nothing is kinked
sometimes things just fall out of place and need a little correction
Any events for airsoft in the North of Scotland? There used to be regular ones go on near Tain at the fendom but the owner sold the land so I can no longer go there.

pretty no-name brands, i would be weary myself. i guess for that price there's only so much that could go wrong considering they're spring guns
i woulda saved up for a gas pistol, they're cheap anyways and work much better than any spring pistol
Well and umarex are generally shit, so if I were you I would expect them to break within the next few months (Assuming you game them regularly.) I would advise saving up for some higher-grade stuff like a starter AEG. I'd take a look through [URL="http://fpair.net/showthread.php?tid=37"]this[/URL] also.
