Drinking/Taking drugs feels good for some people. But the bad things happen when you abuse them, both extremes (Straight-edge and Drug-addict) are bad.

Actually your brain is more resilient to cell death when you are younger.
And alcohol does not kill braincells unless it causes you to incur a head injury. Your liver will fail before you are brain damaged by getting drunk.
I'm straight-edge because I have a good time without it. And I like being in control. But I couldn't care less if anyone else wants to do it :smile:

My friend decided to be a straight edge vegetarian for a month to see if it makes him any healthier. It hasn't really.
You guys put too much faith in the D.A.R.E. education by the way. Different drugs have wildly different physical effects on your body.

I also don't drink or do drugs, but for the sole reason that I don't want to alter my perception of reality(which can be dumbed down to: I don't need drugs to have fun). I don't mind trying alcoholic drinks but 95% taste like complete shit, so I just drink water most of the time, but if I ever go out I'll get lemonade or something otherwise I'll get dumbfounded looks from people if they can instantly see I don't have something that looks like it could contain alcohol.

Why not? People usually brag to other people who take part in the same activities. It's like anything else, but there is a separation in your mind, but is it logically different? Nope, people are going to brag about whatever, and if you aren't into what they are bragging about, they are going to sound annoying.
I'm don't consider myself straight edge because it's stupid to walk around saying you don't do drugs. I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs though just because it's against my views. I don't force it on people though.

Alcohol actually does kill brain cells. But that's the least of your worries if you're an alcoholic, and it won't affect you if you're a moderate drinker.
