Looks better than it did at E3, but the gameplay still stopped every 10 seconds to do a predefined animation killmove. As cool as they look, it's going to get boring, and it's really not what dooms fast paced action was about.
Then don't press the "USE" button, just shoot from your guns, sigh. Serious Sam 3 also had kill/finishing moves, nobody forced you to use it.
hoping this game gives me nightmares like Doom 3 did.
It probably won't. The environments look better lit than Doom 3's were.
Then don't press the "USE" button, just shoot from your guns, sigh. They're really focusing on being drawn out and violent, here.
I dunno if I'd want to play this. I was born after the DOOM era, so I played it like, 15 years after it was first released and it was pretty boring to me. I understand that the in that era, storytelling wasn't as important in a game as actual gameplay, but IMO the DOOM format isn't that fun. It gets repetitive really quick. edit: hey guys I want to sincerely apologize for having an opinion, that was seriously uncool of me
Considering how good the new wolfenstein is, I'm sure this turn out good too.
Considering how good the new wolfenstein is, I'm sure this turn out good too.
But it's not the same developer?
I'm indifferent with this, I don't think a good fast-paced FPS is possible if its designed with consoles in mind.
the majority of ss3's ammo and health drops weren't from killmoves
You should watch the hell e3 trailer, sometimes killing an enemy with rockets dropped more ammo/health than a killmove, so it seems it might be based on chance.
I remember the finishing moves from SS3 being a really swift neck break or something along those lines. They're really focusing on being drawn out and violent, here.
I don't know what is not violent about pulling a Gnaars eye out of his eye socket, pulling a soldiers heart out of his chest, decapitating a Scrapjack, etc ?
the majority of ss3's ammo and health drops weren't from killmoves
Well, if in Doom 4 you get ammo and health drops when using kill moves, that gives you a reason to use it, but I like the old school way more, searching the map for supplies. In SS4 there was basically no reason for them except to get the achievements. However, if ammo and health drops are limited to kill moves that would be a questionable design decision. I don't know if that is the case.
The e3 gameplay video was jam packed with those killanimations as well, kinda breakes the pacing
I find it strange how, when Brutal Doom does it, people like it, but when ID does it, it's suddenly seen as a bad thing.
At least the revenant looks somewhat faithful to the originals.
You're literally the definition of unsatisfiable. They look as close as they could to the original monsters, but it's still not enough.
Looks a little better than we last saw it, that's for sure. I also really like the baron of hell and pinky designs. The unfolding chaingun is pretty fucking neato too.
Animations are very cartoony and stiff, not sure if I'm a fan of that.
Looks a little better than we last saw it, that's for sure. I also really like the baron of hell and pinky designs. The unfolding chaingun is pretty fucking neato too.
That's one of the Chaingun upgrades that lets you essentially turn it into a triple-barreled turret in your hands. Every gun's got upgrades/mods like this, like the shotgun in the trailer being modded with a grenade launcher and what seems to be a different barrel.
I find it strange how, when Brutal Doom does it, people like it, but when ID does it, it's suddenly seen as a bad thing.
Maybe because Brutal Doom is a mod and not the original game experience. Also a ton of people hate Brutal Doom.
Hopefully a lot less heavily scripted and QTE like Dead Space. Its ID though, so we have nothing to worry about.
Idk man, ID's last game, RAGE, was pretty damn bad. That was one of the most mediocre (and buggy) gaming experiences I can ever remember having.
I'm still hugely disappointed in how Hell looked in the E3 trailer, it was hugely creatively bankrupt
They captured the attitude of Doom, but can they capture the gameplay? (The game will probably be good, but they probably didn't do the latter)
Animations are very cartoony and stiff, not sure if I'm a fan of that.
It's still in development so things might still change. The caco or the Baron's design changed multiple times over the screens we've seen of them.
looks alot better then the E3 footage
But it's not the same developer?
there goes all my preconcieved hope for this
I'm still really annoyed that the chainsaw grinds the gameplay to a halt everytime you kill an enemy as it plays a predefined animation for the kill.
Well it's supposed to do that because chainsaws kinda get stuck in flesh and the whole sawing process is by no means instant They should've made some kind of laser chainsaw, enabling you to chop up enemies on the move like in the originals
I'm still really annoyed that the chainsaw grinds the gameplay to a halt everytime you kill an enemy as it plays a predefined animation for the kill.
They explained it's practically redesigned as a joker card that you pull out when you're against an enemy you can't beat otherwise. Tougher enemies consume more ammo than smaller guys. Same way they changed the BFG into a panic button you press to kill everything. It sounds really dumb.
I'm indifferent with this, I don't think a good fast-paced FPS is possible if its designed with consoles in mind.
Ahem
This trailer is way more hype-inducing than the garbage box art
One thing that I'm concerned about is that, for the most part, we've only been seeing the action of the game and not many puzzles. This could just be because action sells better than puzzles, but we saw one in the e3 footage and it was laughably easy (following a hologram is not a puzzle). Don't get me wrong, I know that this is an action game and not Tetris, so naturally you'd expect to be killing things for most of the game. But some people forget that the original Dooms had problems to solve, labyrinths to navigate, and secrets to discover. I really hope that the team making this new Doom recognize there is more to the series than just tearing through hell's asshole. The e3 footage wasn't promising, but the game isn't out yet and I've noticed they changed some things in this build of the game compared to the e3 version. With that in mind, I'm still optimistic for this game.
I really hope they have a classic mode that ups the speed and enemy count
Hopefully online will also be more fast paced Also I hope that this wont have a too complex story. Something as simple as Doom 1's plot would be great
The art style looks great now, it's so retro without looking cheap. I love the monsters too, but thier attacks are different (hellknights and barons don't throw projectiles from the looks of things) All that bothers me is that they haven't confirmed mod tools outside of Snapmap. People wouldn't complain so much if they announced that you can completely mod the game, because then people would just wait for someone to mod out the kill animations and item drops.
hoping this game gives me nightmares like Doom 3 did.
it probably wont because this looks nothing like doom 3 which is a bad thing imo but to each his own
That triple vulcan cannon looked fucking sick.
"Sir, there demons at the gate" "Bringz all ya's dakka boyz"
