Sorry I thought you would understand common lingo, than when I said PC you would realize I was mentioning windows machines. not really. OS 9 had way more viruses than OS X, and that was when Apple had pretty much no marketshare at all. Funny how when Apple gets 10% market share that their newer OS gets less viruses. Windows is getting pummeled, I don't know if you have have the capability to see that though. Exclude businesses and look at what young people are buying, you would then realize their marketshare is going to get better especially when the recession is over and more people will be able to buy what you like to call "overpriced" computers.
Macintosh is currently losing market share and market control. If you haven't noticed the increase in their ads, they're trying to get back a falling and plummeting market. They should have stuck with what they were good with. iPods. Also, most "young people" with computer experience/tech savvy, will know not to get a mac mainly to save money.
Pah, I believe the story in the OP has taken many liberties from the truth of the actual conversation. Nobody rambles on that long with stats and reasoned argument. I'm willing to bet it actually sounded a bit more like this: Fanboy 1: "Hey, so they are making an updated Macbook with a better CPU and a gig more of ram." Fanboy 2: "Wow, it was already really good in the first place, and now they are making it better! Leavin' those PC stiffs to wallow in their viruses and blue screens, huh? Does anyone still use PCs?" OP: "I don't because I'm not a faggy hipster. That 200 MHz and a gig of ram adds $1000 to the price tag."

It usually does the opposite because he tells me the price, and I say how much cheaper I could get that. Buying Mac is spending money on a name. You're getting the same thing, but then saying you're going to pay for the "privilege" of using a mac.
ugh this reminds me of a teacher calling all pc users as narrow mined and retards sounds more like mac users plus the fact is i like upgrading my pcs :)
Almost everyone at my school hates macs because thats what we use at school and they're all connected to the flimsiest server ever so we loose our saves and stuff all the time, and the internet works 1/3 of the time. On the other hand my English Teacher whos super politcally correct (Irronic cause it's PC) is a Mac follower. She said that there were lots of problems and complications with "Veesta" (that's how she acctually pronounced it) just because when I mailed a text document from my home PC to the school I forgot to change the save format so it was in an open office file rather than a word format so it couldn't open.
I feel your pain, and then its doubled. I have to deal with four of them. The worst is one of those kids who's parents bought them everything. He carries the damned MacBook with him everywhere. Any time someone starts talking about PCs, he pretty much recites the Mac V. PC ads on TV. When trying to make a point about how much better his Mac was, he for some reason thought he could use the following argument. "Yeah, well, my Mac is better because it has a webcam built in and safari and I can play minesweeper on it." I read off the price and specifications of a mid range MacBook Pro to him, then the price and specifications of a slightly better PC. The PC was about 1/3 the price of the Mac, and he just said "No, thats a fucking lie, you just made that shit up." I honestly feel like I could have a more stimulating conversation arguing with a group of PS3 and 360 fanboys. Teachers in general, but particularly English Teachers seem to love Macs.
Macs are for people who buy them. :smug:
Wow. That story was dull. I don't think you really portrayed your hatred for them or their stupidity effectively.

My laptop came with both those things, and I dont feel the need to say that makes this laptop better than Macs. I also hate when they deny the huge pricetags on those apple computers. A lot of my teachers are pro-PC but just the one Super-Liberal English teacher preaches the Apple name with her MacBook and iPhone. One day the entire class was on a Mac-bashing-fest and that teacher was just sitting there with her MacBook in her Lap not knowing what to do. Apple makes good products, I'm not denying that but theyre just not worth the money (except my iPod Touch. I use that thing so much).

A lot of Macs can actually be price competitive, you just account for nothing but basic specs and exclude things like size, battery-life, and multi-touch. Macs are expensive computers no doubt, but compared to other "premium" machines they do quite well. I'm not talking about shit like alienware, but Dell Adamo, Thinkpad x300, voodoo envy and such.
and your computer turn on faster, and you play games faster
Oh yeah, because I'm just itching to hurry up and play the new Tiger Woods game!

My laptop is now a year and a half old, almost two, I paid/built it for 1200$ or so for it(Plus a one year warranty covering everything) and it can play games like Crysis on High with no problem at all. It can perform any task I want it to, and it does so with very little effort. It has a 2 hour battery life, and a built in webcam. Compared to other "premium machines" I still would never take a mac, and most people that are "tech savvy" won't either. They know how much of a waste it is to pay another 500$ just for the brand name.
Act like them. Example: Macfag1: Mac is so awesome omg i sill dont know how u kan use ur old (O.S) it sukkz. You: (Insert your O.S here) is so awesome i still dont know how you can use your shitty OSX.
So how come people still call Windows based machines PCs but not Macs? I mean it's extremely ignorant to say that a Mac isn't a Personal Computer.
Man I hate this, almost all of the people in my class are like this. I like to use PC's for many reasons: 1. PC caters to both markets, whilst mac only targets a artist's market.
that is their ad campaign but alot of stuff is now done more on PC
2. PC's are generally cheaper and have better hardware than a mac.
you best be trolling FOXCONN is not quality nor is pcpower
4. My school used to own primarily macs, and whenever I wanted a favorite light open-source utilities, I could find almost no builds for them, it was a 1 out of 5 chance.
where are you looking
Why the fuck do Macs cost so much anyways? That's essentially why I'll never get one.
Why the fuck do Macs cost so much anyways? The "moderness" of them, everything being compact so it attracts arttards, you are basically overpaying for a extended warranty as you have to send it into them if it breaks too.

Another $500 dollars really? The last gen powermacs were cheaper than comparable Dells, the Macbook air is a better value than the voodoo envy/thinkpad x300/dell adamo, don't even get me started on the 27' iMac.
What aggs me is that PC is an acronym for personal computer. Macs are personal computers as well, so it should be a battle of Mac vs Windows, Not mac vs PC.
A picture equals 1,000 words, so I'll just leave this here:

Regardless, you can't do as much with a mac for the price you pay. Correction, you can't do as much as I can for the price you paid.

But I do have photoshop, flash, dreamweaver, and ms office which is all I need for a mobile device. For a lot of people OS X does what they just need.

I raged just after the first line of text.
It's funny how all Mac fanboys (I have a friend who thinks that no piece of technology is more powerful than an Xbox but Macs come close ) use the virus thing as an argument. Because I actually download very risky files (Mods for games, or things I think are free, indy games themselves) and I have never gotten a virus that my firewall didn't detect. So to assume that no virus exists for the Mac and that Windows have zero protection... It makes me want to punch that kind of person in the face.

too bad mac is unix
too bad mac is unix
true... ignore that. lol
