maybe this guy designed the necrons based on that painting or something
Is he a reasonably well known artist? because as SomTervo said above, the picture might of influenced the design of the Necrons.
It's going to crawl out of the painting at night and stick it's fire dildo in your butt.
Well from wiki, I see that the necrons came at 1998 or so. The Necrons first appeared as usable units for Warhammer 40,000 as Necron Raiders. The rules for these were first published in White Dwarf Issue 216 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necrons http://www.gamehobby.net/white_dwarf_magazine/white_dwarf_216.html
Hide it in your attic and you will never age unless you look at it. Also you'll be a necron lord or something, I dunno.
He didn't die, he painted his soul onto canvas. He's now an immortal, undead necron, waiting for you to go to sleep so he can rape you with his dogdick gun. Do not panic. You're in a dangerous situation and you must act quickly. Wrap the painting in a sheet and take it to Mount Umchaku in southern Mexico. If the locals ask you what you're doing, tell them the shadows have awoken and you must close the lid. They will understand and bother you no more. On top of the mountain is a monument, with a large open square. Place the painting, still covered in sheets on the square, and then place lit wax candles in a fibernaci spiral around it. Then, light the painting (do NOT remove the sheets) on fire, and as it burns, look towards the sky and repeat the words "Shadows depart, light remains", until you can no longer hear the painting burn. Do not look at the painting as it burns, this might cause the soul in the painting to posess you, and the locals will kill you if they find out. Best of luck on your quest. Godspeed.
^ I like this post the best about the dude. Also. Easy way to settle this go to an art expert and have the canvas and paint analysed for dating etc.. That way you can get evidence whether to sue the publishers of the fantasy tabletop series Warhammer for breaching copyright law and not paying him for likeness. Even further. Investigate whether he did sell his ideas to them, preventing embarrassment.
Maybe he wanted you to have it since you might be interested in games ? If this painting was based of a game he might have thought of you cause alot of young people play games.
This is just a little TO similar. Lets not turn this into "My dog just attacked some kids ringing my doorbell"

You should post a photo of the elephant painting
I'm scared.
Hey guys, the artist in the OP painted this in 1972
Im calling bullshit on this.

I bet it's part of the Cthulhu Mythos
The painting is a warning of the hollow ones, they are comingn for your soul.
Forgot to mention, it was painted 43 years ago.
Thats a lot creepier, did he think he had any supernatural abilities or anything?
It's most likely the canvas that is from 1968 or 1988 whatever it says, the bit it's written on is the spongy wood stuff that looks like it'd be on the frame to keep the painting rigid, it's pretty clear it's a necron though which is actually quite cool considering I thought it was just some random alien, but it turns out it's part of one of my favorite franchises.

Can't they check how old is the thing somewhere? If he isn't making this up, he should totally go an try to check when was the thing painted. It's intriguing how close to a necron it looks like, and necrons aren't really that old.

Perhaps he knew someone who worked for GW who thought that, that painting would be awesome for necrons?
Maybe he wrote 1988? Maybe he has the habit of noting down when he bought the canvas rather than when he painted on it? Which would be quite a strange habit. Maybe he is a Necron lord? Fuck if I know
It's how he sees Master Chief.
Even if it was 1988, the Necrons didn't exist then, so that doesn't change a thing.
that is an awesome painting take pictures of the other ones
Maybe the 6 in 1968 is actually an upside 9 and it's meant to be 1998. MYSTERY SOLVED
