Leaning toward Metallica, though.
Porcupine Tree

Originally started as a joke by frontman Steven Wilson to test his mixing skills and his home studio, Porcupine Tree has developed into one of the most influential and popular modern progressive rock acts around. With 10 albums and about a dozen bootlegs/EPs, they seem to be getting better with each album.
While generally described as progressive rock, Porcupine Tree are hard to classify as their music goes from prog rock, to metal, to ambient, to post-rock, to experimental and psychedelic. The musical diversity they create is massive.
Members:
Steven Wilson - Vocals, Guitars
Gavin Harrison - Drums, Percussion
Richard Barbieri - Keyboards
Colin Edwin - Bass

This. People should check out their music video for Glass Arm Shattering on their homepage (It's not on YT).

So beautiful!
So did I! :buddy:
As a matter of fact, we were probably at the same show.
I'm going to see them in November at The Fillmore. I can't wait!
Are you serious? The Fillmore in Detroit? Where about do you live in Michigan?
Alright, my favorite band is NOFX
The vocals of that band are horrible holy shit. My ears they are bleeding
Correction: Anette sucks. PERIOD. She's just ABYSMAL compared to Tarja.
I fucking love old Nightwish

See her? She's Tarja Turunen, who was the vocalist up until 2007. Nightwish were so much freaking better when she was with them, and anette sucks in comparison.
In other news, the HMV near me have decided to start selling Epica's new album, which isn't released yet.
Yay
Edit
never could tell the difference between the two singers personally
What?
The Beatles are my favourite band. I really don't think I need to explain about them.
I heard that album is almost the exact same album as Paul Simon's Graceland. That true?
edit: They do sound very similar.
Not that i can tell. Paul simon hasn't been good since he broke up with garfunkle.
What?
lol I just listen to the music. I honestly don't know which vocalist is which. I don't pay attention to what album I'm listening to.
Not that i can tell. Paul simon hasn't been good since he broke up with garfunkle.
Go listen to Graceland and say that again, unless you already had, and I can't really change your opinion on the album, but if you haven't listened to it go and do it it's a good album, but if you've already listened to the album when you've listened to it before then that would be pretty useless to go and listen to it again, I don't know why anyone would do that, unless they like listening to music they don't like, but I really haven't met anyone who does.
Isn't that pretty much the exact same thing as Tool?
Not at all. APC is a lighter sounding band with more introspective lyrics, and Tool definitely has more progressive tendencies. APC is just more personal.
Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Slayer, MD.45, Dragonforce, Machinae Supremacy and Rush are my favourites. There's the occasional odd song from random artists too, but I can't remember any of them.
Could you be any more generic?
[editline]01:37AM[/editline]
Isn't that pretty much the exact same thing as Tool?
IT includes some of the same people so yes.
Oh yeah and mine is Chevelle :3
100% Opeth

They're an awesome mix of death metal and progressive rock
The band consists of 5 members.
Mikael Åkerfeldt - Lead guitar and vocals (Also vocalist for the death metal band Bloodbath, which is utterly awesome as well)

Fredrik Åkesson - guitar

Martin Mendez - bass

Martin "Axe" Axenrot - drums (also the drummer for Bloodbath)

Per Wiberg - Keyboard

An album you should definitely look into is "Damnation", which is pure ear sex, made in the style of 70's progressive rock.
For example:
Windowpane

Death Whispered a Lullaby

To Rid The Disease

The album's just great.
But Opeth's not all about progressive rock, let me show you.
Demon of the fall

Circle of tyrants

The Leper Affinity pt.1

Deliverance

and lots and lots more
Seriously, if you haven't heard them, check them out!
This, such a great band. I love the way they can suddenly change from screeching guitars and death metal growls to nothing but Mikael's absolutely beautiful sung vocals and an acoustic guitar, without making it sound out of place. But Martin Lopez was such a better drummer than Martin Axenrot. Pity he left
Yeah Opeth is pure awesomeness. They completely changed my musictaste.

NO, I will not take it back. Tarja was infinitely better than Annette, and nothing will change my opinion on that matter.
Speaking of Epica, here's one of the new ones, which just happens to be my favourite on the album.

Rush.

My fav is the deftones! It's been a rough time for them lately, since their bassist Chi Cheng was in a car accident and is still in a coma :(
Fav songs by them are Be Quiet and drive (Far Away), Minerva and Digital Bath.
They currently have a new album being recorded, as well as the album 'Eros', which is awaiting release, but it's on hold due to Chi being in a coma.

My grandparents live near Houghton Lake :p
They were telling me about how the huge news a few years ago was them getting the Super WalMart up there.
They live near West Branch, I in the tri-cities area.
I visit the Houghton Lake/West Branch area quite frequently, especially for G's Pizza :D
My friend lives very close by G's Pizza. Our Wal-Mart sucks. It's the one place to buy music in town, and they have the shittiest selection ever.

I see, I like to mock the "mall" in West Branch. Outlet stores with shitty products at HALF FUCKING RETAIL VALUE!
Yet I still see a shitload of kids hanging out there.
Seems like "fun."
Dude, "mall"? People in my town go to Wal-Mart and hang out.

It is a "strip mall" in West Branch, just a fuckton of outlet stores with cheap merchandise.
At least the Super Walmart has fucking popcorn chickren there :D
Probably Enter Shikari at the moment

Saw him not too long ago. Got to meet him, he's a pretty cool dude. Great DJ too. Definitely a musical inspiration for my mixes.

I know, I was joking with the whole "mall" thing. I was implying that, even though it's a strip mall, people in my town hang out at our Wal-Mart aka Houghton Lake's "mall". I've been to West Branch tons of times.
Been listening to a lot of soundgarden as of late.
Members before they broke up
Chris Cornell (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar) Doing really shitty music right now
Kim Thayil (Lead Guitar)
Matt Cameron (Drums) Drummer for Pearl Jam Right now
Ben Shepard (Bass Guitar)
Good music
Jesus Christ Pose (1991, Badmotorfinger)

Outshined (1991, Badmotorfinger)

The Day I Tried to Live (1994, Superunknown)

Other good songs:
Hands All Over (off Louder Than Love)
Pretty Noose (Off Down on the Upside)
Fell on Black Days (Off Superunknown)
There's more, but I'm too lazy to look right now.

Finally someone else who chose them! They played solidarity as the opener when i saw them live on the 12'th. If you ever get a chance to see them live you can't miss it. It was the best gig ive ever been to.
