Washington is a pretty awesome state.
I was talking with my girlfriend about travelling around the world (which we both want to do badly) but since we haven't the money to travel globally, we got the idea of in a year or two (probably two because we're poor as fuck) of taking a country-wide road trip from New Jersey to the west coast and back. We probably can't see all the sights, unfortunately, but we're listing the Grand Canyon, St. Louis Arch and driving through Wisconsin (to see her sister that lives there) as points along the way. Anyone have any other must see sights that could easily be reached within the lower 48? We're aiming the trip to be 1 1/2 to 2 weeks.

However, it is good to hear that you could be seeing some sights and drive across the US. I am sure it'll be a fun experience and hope you two have a good time along the way.

Worth a stop if you're nearby in the summer. If you happen to go through Texas, I can recommend a few places. Go for a hike up Enchanted Rock, stop by McDonald Observatory and go look at the stars and shit, and roll through Big Bend to see some cool shit. One of my favorite stretches of road in the US is when you're coming into Colorado through New Mexico. Sand dunes with snowy mountain peaks in the background, then you drive through huge canyons and winding roads and you're in CO. Stunning drive - definitely recommend it if you're planning to stop through CO for some weed tourism or something.

Maybe a month at most, but beyond that we're financially incapable. At least at the moment. I have never been further west than Pittsburgh, PA (where majority of my extended family lives) and she's never been beyond New Jersey (save going to Philly a couple times visiting family in hospitals) so even if we don't see a lot of "great sights" the trip will be an adventure to admire on its own.
Are you going to see Mt. Rushmore? I assume it wouldn't be too far since you're going up to Wisconsin, but that's one thing I'd personally try to do if I ever went on a trip across the US.
Yosemite
Yeah, since we're up there we probably should make that a goal.
Also unsure if you have passports or enhanced licenses or what, but you should drive through Canada on the way. Here's some routes you could take, not accurate of course, but gives goes by multiple major cities. Two possible routes, one lets you see more of Canada and the other lets you see Chicago and Detroit. The green route lets you pass through Syracuse instead of taking the route by Corning towards Rochester. Rochester (born, raised, and still live here) is a bit shitty, but has some cool stuff like an abandoned subway. If you're going into Canada this way you can stop at Buffalo and then go to Niagara Falls which is right there. With either route you can visit Toronto if you want, but if you plan on taking the route to Detroit and Chicago then you would have to go a bit out of your way. [t]http://i.imgur.com/v8mFU7I.png[/t]
snowed a lot last night. had to drive to a bunch of places today too. call me crazy but i think driving in the snow is really fun

Plus, I don't really know the sights nor the cities that well in Canada so I wouldn't even know what attractions to go see.
by the way when you say "see the grand canyon" you shouldn't just pull up to some tourist photo-op spot and get a picture at some dirty spot with a bunch of other faggots do some colorado river rafting or something also

Though, the more time we spend in one place, the less places we'll see over all. We'll have to figure out some sort of balance. Anyway, you guys in the north east ready for the Storm of the Century, Satan and all?
well since it kind of seems like the grand canyon is your "destination" of sorts then I'd spend more than 5 minutes there rafting would just be like an afternoon thing or something
gl to all new englanders these next few days with the incoming snow storm. i'm in CT and they're expecting 24 - 36 inches in my area
The storm is missing us up near Lake Ontario. :)
another blizzard, no fucks given. i'll go out and shovel like i always do.
meanwhile it was in the low 70s today? texas fuck yeah?

It's obvious that the Left Coast wins all bets hands down.
I live on the East Coast. I wouldn't move for anything in the world. Except to not live on the East Coast.
SNOWPOCALIPSE THE I 2015. BRING IT ON
new jersey is good for one thing, and that's wawas and the lower gas prices. the slave-labor gas pumping is nice as well. otherwise, it and the rest of the atlantic coast suck. i've been to (not counting just driving through) nj, pennsylvania, massachusetts, connecticut, rhode island, florida, virginia, maryland and have been living in n(j)ew york for almost 20 years now. as stated before, left coast is best coast. sadly i don't live there anymore :l
I love in a Southern state that seems to think it's a northern state. Tennessee is weird.

As they should be, as they are a godsend to mankind.
