i'm sorry did i say starbucks i meant independent local coffee house serving only organically sourced free range coffee beans
since california is apparently full of hipsters
also define hipster for me cause i don't really see that many
Found the hipster :v:
tbh i've never understood why people make such a big deal out of hipsters or "hipster towns". i guess the street musicians can get a bit loud and it might be annoying to have an urban outfitters in every corner but otherwise it's not like i have a problem with people wearing thick framed glasses
why wear thick-framed glasses when you don't even need them?
why care if other people do
Muh washington state
Virginia is pretty good. Defense contracts out the ass so our economy never really suffers during economic downturns.
Unless you speed, then you're literally satan in the eyes of the state.

After reading this post, I am terrified of driving in Virginia.
it's more noticeable outside of CA
generally: a wool sweater or button-up sweater, a t-shirt with some sort of odd quip or old band you never heard of, big glasses, a wool-knit hat usually worn outside of winter, tight jeans (and i mean tight), converse sneakers or some nice dress shoes, as much facial hair as possible (or makeup if you are a girl)
Hold on, I wear converse sneakers...
Oh. Oh God.

You know? Washington actually seems pretty nice, it's one place I'm thinking about going to when I get out of New York.
oh i forgot
hipsters also drink pbr and other shit beer for no real purpose other than being "that guy."

At least we don't have to deal with hipsters like those not-New England states.

Also, those old fashioned Massachusetts weather patterns are starting their comeback. Yesterday morning it was snowing and raining all over the state, and by noon it was sunny, dry, and almost warm.

Honestly if any state is a police state, it's Virginia.
I love VA - its probably one of the best states in the country. However, the traffic laws are fucking draconian. I love literally everything about VA - except for the driving laws. It's gotten the the point where I want to move out of VA just because of the driving laws. They're really that bad.

red or white? and from a bottle or one of those wine boxes with the dispenser on it so you can pour it into a cup?

I prefer whites to reds, unless it's a sweeter red. The dryer ones are too oaky for me.
Bottles exclusively. The day I drink boxed wine is the day I drink boxed wine.

lmao imagine going 93 in a 55 and being surprised when it's more than a ticket I mean I know jalopnik is known for being sort of silly but cmon
maybe I'm biased, since I live in VA and have a car that is quick enough to get up and over 100 really easy, yet I've never gone to jail/got a ticket because I don't drivel like an asshole. I don't really see anything wrong with the laws, you fuck up hard, you go to jail for a while or big a huge ticket, which seems fine to me when you're, you know, driving recklessly and sort of throwing the safety of everyone around you out the winodw. like, near 40 over the limit is seen as reasonable in other states? I like having tough speeding laws, means when someone is driving like a dipshit they usually get to pay a whole ton of money or kicked off the road for a while, and even more thankfully, it means that any Marylanders or people from Jersey driving through get pulled over when they try typical Maryland stuff like driving reverse in the wrong lane and etc.

i think it's more the stupidity of considering sexual battery a misdemeanor when immediately driving 80+ is also one
it's a guy that drives cars for a living, he made sure the road was empty before doing it
he wasn't doing it on urban streets
Bro, the North Jersey accent, which you are probably talking about, is unique in that it kicks the ass of any accent on this side of the States in terms of greatness and originality. Now, take in the consideration that NJ has a really high density and level of diversity.
Now, imagine all of those different ethnic groups developing Jersey accents while speaking their native languages.
That's how it really is here.
Most other states have streets with much higher limits and the laws weren't made by someone with a stick up their ass where you can get actual jail time for speeding in very unpopulated areas.
I've never went more than maybe 10 miles over the speed limit, ever. I'm too damn scared of hitting like a particle and flipping my car thirty times.
That said, when I was in the car with my boy and he was driving over a hundred on the highway at night when he was the only one with a functioning seatbelt, I was shitting myself. Gotta say though, his driving is amazing. Completely nerve-wracking, but amazing.
In Massachusetts, the speed limit on highways is 65.
Except literally everyone will pass you if you obey the speed limit and you will look like an asshat. You're pretty much required to do 70+ on an interstate route.

Same in Texas. 70 is often slower than the average pace, too. People seem to do 80, with the occasional 90-100.
Missouri is generally reasonable on highways. 60 MPH is the posted speed, but everyone goes 65 MPH due to the 'five-over' unspoken rule. You'll still get passed fairly often, but it's extremely rare to see anyone go faster than 70 MPH or so.
i always go 10 above the speed limit on the interstate, 5 above in the city
tho i've gone 95 on mountain parkways before. was fun. i listened to derezzed while passing all the cars

As long as you're following the flow of the traffic around you then you wont get in trouble. Unless that group is going insanely fast.
Vermont has no highways with more than two lanes, but those which do have two lanes essentially only have one because the passing lane is used strictly to pass. If you're in the passing lane and you're not passing another driver, everyone will assume you're from Massachusetts

It's true. On every interstate route here (most/all of them are three-lane), tons of people treat the passing lane as a faster traveling lane. State cops don't really care either.
