Central Georgia here, I haven't been paying attention as I don't drive, but I think it's around the $2.80 mark or so. Next time I pass a gas station I'll try to see what it is. Also keep in mind it'll shift by a few cents depending on what time of day it is.
I'm from florida.
People are complaining that it's cold here but it really isn't.
So to talk about our schools a little has anybody received NRA essay contest forms about our second amendment rights in their schools in any other state besides Texas?
[img_thumb]http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae38/omgwut21/IMAG0024_zps68744908.jpg[/img_thumb]
I think this is a little crazy personally because they're going to children about gun rights.
I don't see it being a big deal. It's an optional thing, I imagine?
I live in New York and the teachers basically pushed a one-sided view of gun control and gun rights. I don't think I ever had a teacher in school that was pro Second Amendment.
It's only fair students get to hear and discuss both sides.
Northern Virginia here; not to be confused with the other Virginia. Gas was about $2.73 when I filled a week ago.
That shit pisses me off to no end. Teachers shouldn't be sitting there saying "and GUNS ARE EVIL AND THEY KILL PEOPLE AND THEY DON'T HAVE LEGIT USES". Teachers jobs are to teach objective facts, not political bullshit.
I was in a history class with a particular Teacher who one day has this discussion with the class and argued the point that "Our civilized society has gone beyond the need for private ownership of firearms and the Police and Military should be the sole owners and users of these devices for the public good" or something to that effect. He pushed the whole "Our forefathers could never know what technology would be like etc."
At the end of class he asked for a show off hands of people in favor of outlawing firearms. I and one other person were the only two people who didn't raise our hands. I realized than NY was going to fuck me over on my gun rights.
Ontop of that I went to a rural school in upstate NY. I was friends with a Dairy Farmer who lived literally down the street from the school on a farm. It wasn't like this was the city or anything (Although a shitload of the kids that went to my school were from NYC because their parents moved locally but still worked in the city so they flooded our school with them and everything got real bad)
The stars at night are big and bright deep in the heart of Texas.
The gas is also cheap as fuck, $2.36 at the HEB by my house
My diary farmer friend I mentioned drew a picture of a Vietnam soldier with an M16 (he was obsessed with Nam stuff) and he had to go to school psychologist and she asked him all kinds of grab-ass questions and shit like that. This was in High School too.
I got in trouble for drawing fighter planes once. Oh, and my Senior year I got into making those paracord bracelets so I would make them when I had free time. In Art Class we had a free day so I was weaving one and I had the tinyest fucking Swiss Army knife because it had a tiny pair of scissors on it and my Art teacher almost got hysterical when she saw it.
This one:

I went to a tiny private high school outside of Knoxville, and I basically carried my Gerber multitool every day. Pulled it out a few times when a teacher needed it. Nobody cared, because everyone carried a pocket knife. Such is rural Tennessee.
i've never shot a gun b4
So murrican's, how is health? And college?
Nebraska here. Never met another Nebraska FPer. Some of us live in cities, a lot of us don't.

I didn't know Nebraska had cities to begin with :v:
So murrican's, how is health? And college?
I'm going to assume you aren't trolling and you're genuinely interested.
My health is ok right now, hopefully nothing major happens because the ACA really didn't do anything for me. About a few months ago I fell off of my bike and the chain ripped my calf apart, so I had this giant bleeding gash in my leg. My first thought was, "Oh fuck I can't afford this right now!" So I wrapped it up best I could and went to the store and bought some extra strength pain pills, alcohol and sowing equipment. I think it was all approximately 15 dollars, which is so much cheaper than going to a clinic. Anyway the point of the story was, that's how health is for ameripoors, do it yourself.
College isn't going great, I feel like the closer I get to graduation, the closer I get to finding out I can't get a job with my degree. It's freaking me out so badly in fact, that I decided to move to NYC so I can get some internships for computer programming, as there are none in the small city I live in. It just feels like I won't get a job without experience, but I can't get experience without internships, and I can't get internships where I am.
I'm not the kind of person to just give into fate though, I'm not going to be poor for the rest of my life just because my parents are pieces of shit. If I need to go to NYC and be homeless now, so that in the future I can get better opportunities, I'll do it.
I'd like to get out of this shitty town they call Danville and head back to Richmond but I'm getting hung up with some registration issues at the uni and probably am gonna have to stay 'til Tuesday
I'd rather deal with this shit over the phone, but no, I need a signature from my advisor to register for a class, and he's literally AWOL
Rip Pearl Harbor.
Indeed, RIP Pearl Harbor.
I do have to say though, I am very surprised gas is getting so cheap here in NY. Hopefully this will keep up.
I was in a marching band at the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor back in 2011. While a majority of the bands played patriotic music like Stars and Stripes and The Washington Post, there was this one band that played nothing but Party Rock Anthem the entire time.
It was really awk.

I've got my health insurance and general healthcare through my University, which I'm attending for free in a four-year program. I have access to a state-of-the-art medical facility, and all doctor's appointments are free. Prescriptions are heavily subsidized. So, in that regard, I can't really complain.
Also, the industry I'm going into is pretty stable right now, and it pays okay depending on where you work. If I go into magazine or web journalism, I can expect $50k+ a year after the first couple of years, so that's not too bad for one person. If I go ultra-niche and put together a good enough portfolio, I can expect $70-100k a year writing for something like Dwell or Food & Wine. I'm already writing for a nationally-syndicated food magazine pro bono, so that's helping with my resume.
Granted, I've got some in-born privilege. I'm white, upper middle class, and I did well enough in a private school to get full scholarships. My experience is not representative of everybody.

Dad's a mechanic for the state so our whole family is covered pretty well, he and my mother stayed in the hospital for a couple weeks on separate occasions and had a ton of different procedures, only thing we had to pay for really was for some $5 footlongs at the subway in the hospital lobby on the way out.
And if people who did as bad at high school as I did went to college for free it'd be a pretty fucked system so uh

Ironically, my health was fine until this morning. I haven't been sick in years, woke up this morning and I've caught some bug or another.
As for college? Mental breakdown and a drop out. So bad.
Does anybody even live in Wyoming?

health's good, didn't you see our national healthcare system, all of kentucky got covered (even though they still elected a guy who ran on the platform of revoking their healthcare), and college, still expensive, but don't worry we'll solve it by throwing more student loans at the problem! me personally, this semester has been shit, and ontop of the one class i have to retake, i'm probably going to have to retake another class because the instructor is so fucking bad at his job he's been fired twice, and still has two classes full of students who are failing, so my GPA that i've tried to get high enough so companies won't laugh at my resume, is going to tank again and i'm still stuck in a field with no experience, and unlike every other engineering branch, i'm in the one thats more and more theoretical and less and less hands on

Have you seen http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ ? It's great for figuring out what to expect going into a class, or picking which class you want to go into during registration. It's really been invaluable for me.

About six months ago I was playing killing floor drunk, eating tacos, and cutting lemons. I ended up cutting deep enough into my thumb to get little white fat bits on the knife.
I wrapped up my thumb and kept playing until my wrap was soaked.
I went back into the bathroom and changed it out, but as soon as I finished wrapping it I started getting light headed and knew I was about to black out. I laid down on the bathroom floor and woke up with the coldest sweat I've ever had.
Went back to playing killing floor, still too drunk to feel much. Passed out again, and woke up in a puddle of vodka (Knocked over my half full fifth!).
Went to bed and glued my skin back together the next morning.
So yeah, DIY like a previous user said.
The horizontal line on my thumb pad doesn't line up anymore.

Filled up my gas tank from near E to F today with just $40.
A year ago it took about $60 to do that.

To be fair, Superglue was invented as part of the battlefield medic toolkit. It was originally marketed to be an alternative to stitches for minor cuts that would minimize bleeding and get the injured back to fighting faster. It just so happens to be one of the best adhesives we have as well.
Should you have gotten stitches, or seen a doctor? Maybe, but there's a good chance they would have done the same thing, since you can't really stitch a thumb. For most digital injuries they just use medical adhesive or stitch strips, and then wrap it with gauze. As long as you cleaned it properly, you did the same thing you would have paid $50-100 for.
lol

$2.60, though it's been teetering +/-5 cents the past few weeks.
