So anyone here live in PA? I'm thinking about leaving NY State and hopping the border. I can't take this place anymore and I'm one last straw away from ditching ship. How do you like it? Anything I need to know? I'm looking to live around Matamoras so I'll be close to my family but still in PA.
Thought this was neat to share http://njmonthly.com/articles/jersey-living/books/10-surprising-facts-didnt-know-about-jersey/ There's still a functioning drive-in movie where I live, too.

Also the crime. Matamoras is a really nice, quiet small-town type of place and I'm really into that. Except there are no jobs to speak of for me. I have no idea what anyone actually does for work. There is a Walmart, Home Depot and a Lowes. So where do people work? I know we're talking about a town with like 2,000 people living there but I'm genuinely confused.
Any local factories or industrial areas?

There is a quarry but it doesn't look big enough to employ much of anyone. My occupation is pretty flexible. Everywhere needs a security guard. There are some places to work I just don't have a huge selection. I'm applying for my NY pistol permit and it's a huge long process complete with interview and a judge approving or denying you and I have a bad feeling about it. I need the permit to get an armed security guard license which is where I want to go right now with my current career plans but if I get denied I sorta have no choice but to move to a state where they're not a strict.

In NJ, they literally don't need a reason to reject a pistol permit application iirc. NJ has one of the most restrictive gun laws in the country.

No criminal record, no arrests, never even been pulled over and I have a guard card. Nothing is wrong with me. I just feel like maybe they'll look at my age or the interview will go bad and somehow I'll be denied. I have a really tough investigator assigned to me I believe. So I guess I just have to wait or see. The wait is killing me though.
I'm going to Didney Worl on Saturday. Staying for a week or so. Should be fun.
woolio how was/is disney world?
Disney World was great. I'm on my way back up to Tennessee now. If you go, get the dining plan. Lot less stressful than having to manage a food budget. We would have spent $500 more if we had paid outright for meals than we did for the dining plan. (The food is... surprisingly good, I'll be honest. Check out my twitter (@JaredWsSb) if you want to see some of the stuff I thought was worth sharing.) Also, the new band system for park admission, fastpass, purchases, and hotels is fantastic. I didn't carry a wallet all week, just my phone and the band. Entrance lines are shorter than ever, fastpasses are instant, and everything just works quickly and unobtrusively. It's pretty incredible. It's hot, though. And it's only going to get hotter this season. November/December's probably the best time to go, and by far the cheapest. Dining plan's free in the off-season too, if you stay on site, so that's a huge bonus.
Northern Kentucky should be it's own state, I'm thinking we can get Louisville and Lexington cut out with us. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/CyKSTnj.jpg[/img_thumb] Thoughts for a better kentucky. Plus we can have four commonwealths state. I don't like odd numbers.
NYC should be its own state. And let the rest of NY have actual representation.
The Monaco GP, then the Indianapolis 500, and then the Coke 600? Today is a good day. Let's go racin', boys and girls!
I woke up early today, so I wrote a little piece on retrofuturism. Inspired by Tomorrowland. Sort of. That movie really got me thinking, not about the movie in particular, because it was kind of unspectacular... But the themes, really, I thought were kind of interesting. The theme of the movie is basically that we've given up dreaming, we don't think as big as we used to. Baby boomer nostalgia masturbation. So I decided to look at that, and I realized that we still have amazing people doing amazing things, we just don't think about it as much. We're not as wowed by it. Anyway, here it is, in all its longform glory. https://medium.com/@jaredsebby/we-were-promised-jetpacks-442116f0db77
87 today with extreme humidity Yeah, summer is here.
george w bush was behind 9/11
In other news, I'm gonna be moving a few towns north starting next week. Looking forward to the slight change of environment. I'm not looking forward to having to take my desk apart and then put it back together. That thing was a pain in the ass to get put together. Damn my current place's weird layout that makes moving it as a whole nearly impossible without causing damage.
What state to what state?
What state to what state?
I'm not moving out of state (in fact, I'll still be in the same county), so... New York to New York?
oh god you live in new york too i hope you don't live in suffolk
The flooding is getting really ridiculous here around Houston. Some of my friend's relatives got arrested for boating down a flooded road yesterday.
I went to San Antonio to visit my girlfriend on Monday, and then missed over a foot of rain in two days basically just got out in the nick of time
