My fellow New Jerseyians, how do you guys feel about the "steal from the poor to pay the rich" gas tax scheme Christie has signed into law?
23 cent gas tax hike across the board while eliminating the estate tax.
"we need to balance the budget" :downs:

I'm not from Jersey, but sounds like business as usual, no?
The fact that it's one of the very few states left that make it illegal to pump your own gas says a lot about how they like to run things there, in regards to gas and other lifestyle commodities.
Also, can anyone get this straight for me, is it true you have to finish an application for a passport in person because they interview you for 90mins or some shit?
Is there anyone here from PA? What do you guys think of the strike going on?

It may have changed since I got my passport back in 2010, but I had no interview whatsoever.
I just had to provide a dozen accounts of ID, take an official photo at the post office then mail in the application to wait 10-15 business days for approval.

On one hand, I can understand them striking due to the rejected contract, though I haven't read into why it was rejected. On the other hand, I think it's bullshit and this is one of the reasons teachers unions shouldn't exist
I feel really sorry for the students.
The strike lasted only a handful of days. You could almost measure it in hours, even.
I'm at IUP and a lot of my teachers weren't striking for themselves, but for the adjunct professors and people in their first five years. I'm glad it didn't drag on. If this semester were voided, I'd be pissed.
goddamn, this country is going to be in an interesting place come tuesday.
Tuesday is still last minute campaigning-day.
It's wednesday when the votes are in and tallied is when shit will hit the fan.
i think you meant to post that in the other thread, but you do have a good point. shit is undoubtedly going to hit the fan regardless of who wins.
guys?
we alright in here or what?

I'm alright. Trump's presidency will not affect me personally much more than Clinton's would. Might actually see some benefits.
I worry for people of other countries who have to live with the most powerful country on earth electing a fool as Commander in Chief of our armed forces, and minority groups at home who will wake up to the reality of a Republican President working with a Republican Congress and filling the bench with conservative justices.
My fiancee is Hispanic. I'm worried about our future as the world seems to backpedal its way into the dark ages of intolerance. She's not Mexican, but someone on the street looking at her may not care.
I'm not alright
I love how keyboard warriors of US are so convinced that Trump is fool and that he is a child, before he even did anything.
gentleman, liberalism has failed us.
in these trying times, we must turn to FULL COMMUNISM!

Only M. Night Shyamalan could pull off a twist like that.
anyone else do a double take when they see someone wearing a red hat?
i live in a pretty liberal area so i've only seen like three people actually wear a MAGA hat
I have never seen anyone in person wearing a MAGA hat. Despite living in NJ, I live in a very conservative part of the state, too.
i haven't seen someone wear it, but i did see one on the backseat of a car.
I see tons of "TRUMP/PENCE" signs on everyone's lawns though. Only seen one "CLINTON/KAINE" within the three counties I frequently drive through. It's a miracle she won NJ at all.
A guy came in wearing a MAGA hat to where I work a couple weeks before the election, stepping out of his Ram 2500, with his gun on his hip and his two labs in the back. I said hey, he said hey, I told him I liked the hat and he grinned and said thanks.
He talked about the election a little, and he was a real nice guy. Asked if I was registered to vote, told him yeah. He was pretty happy to hear that, said he didn't see enough young guys out voting. Went as far as giving me his number and telling me to call him or his wife (who he was dropping off to pick up HER big 2500 we just put tires on :v:) if I needed a ride to the polls.
One of the most American experiences I've had. Top guy.
This was in Virginia, so our votes more or less didn't matter one way or the other, though. Wonder how he felt getting the last laugh.

Any of y'all know whether this 'forgotten civil flag' is true or not?
There is a rumour that the USA has been at war for like 93% of it's history therefore it was never flown often and that the battle flag is now associated as the civil one.

what sense would that make?
in any case, flag act of 1818:
"Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress Assembled, That from and after the fourth day of July next, the flag of the United States be thirteen horizontal stripes, alternate red and white: that the union be twenty stars, white in a blue field."
