what sense would that make? in any case, flag act of 1818: "Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress Assembled, That from and after the fourth day of July next, the flag of the United States be thirteen horizontal stripes, alternate red and white: that the union be twenty stars, white in a blue field."
well shit they've been getting it wrong for almost 200 years
well shit they've been getting it wrong for almost 200 years
he left out the last bit "And be it further enacted, That on the admission of every new state into the Union, one star be added to the union of the flag; and that such addition shall take effect of the fourth day of July then next succeeding such admission."

Hey lads, I'm gunna be in the US on the 10th for business and I was wondering what the deal is with tipping. Like, who do I have to tip? Will they ask for a tip or will I be expected to know when to give it?

They will not ask for it but most time they won't say anything if you don't leave anything, they'll just assume either you're an asshole or they did a really shitty job (probably the former most of the time). Standard is 15% to 20% of your food bill. I think taxi drivers get tips too, but I'm not sure, never been in one.

Definitely not in western Washington though. • If you're going to a very fancy traditional hotel: tip the bellhop $10-$20. • If you're in an area where gas stations pump for you: please tip the pump jockey. They're probably a very young guy below poverty line (personal experience) I've always been told by my family to tip half of what your tax is, but I think that's the bare minimum from what I've learned from people outside my family.
Thanks for the help everyone!
I live in New Jersey, famous for our lack of having to pump our own gas and I can tell you no one ever tips a cent to the people pumping. They get full hourly wages like every other employee, unlike waitresses and taxi drivers that are dependent on their customers.
what's a good big boy city to live in over the summer i did an internship in the most barren town in america and i wasn't a big fan of it. trying to send applications for internships in big cities now
I've only been to three major cities; Philly, NYC and Pittsburgh and I think Pittsburgh is by far the nicest. Especially if you enjoy mountain scenery.
yeah i've heard a lot of good things about pittsburgh how's public transportation? i don't want to have to own a car
I have never road on public transit anywhere let alone Pittsburgh, however if you're not use to driving in extreme inclines (which Pittsburgh is full of), I suggest getting an automatic. Some roads, with intersections across, are steeper than 45 degree angles.
my city is pretty hilly and i don't know how to drive manual anyway [editline]2nd December 2016[/editline] tho one day i want to live out my nerd fantasies and import a toyota ae86 from japan
Anyone here from Ohio? One of my co-workers told me she lived in the state for fifteen years and never saw a gravel road; is this true? I'm weighing a job opportunity that would require moving there.
Mmmm OPEC cutting production Let's get oil back up to 80+ a barrel and I'll be able to get a new truck

WHERE'S THE SNOW
Apparently it's gonna snow an inch of snow in Alabama. That's weird it's not suppose to snow here.
we're supposed to get less than an inch friday morning and saturday night. as much as i like getting overtime pay, i feel it won't even be worth it.
Meanwhile I had my AC running most of today.
Suppose to get an inch this Thursday night as I drive home from work. Thankfully I take state roads so I ought to be fine driving in it. Praying that it's the last we ever get this winter even though I know that's a futile desire.
