I did a parade for this and nearly fainted. It was good listening to the service
It always burned my ass when we had remembrance day assemblies in high school and people were often laughing and not taking the idea seriously at all. Disrespectful cunts.
My father was killed in 'nam. :sigh: [editline]01:23PM[/editline]
It always burned my ass when we had remembrance day assemblies in high school and people were often laughing and not taking the idea seriously at all. Disrespectful cunts.
agreed. god damn.
They should be proud of the people who lost their lives in battle.
I remember watching it last year, one of the veterans got out of his wheelchair to lay a reef, and refused to have help doing it and it took him a while to manage it, it was really moving.
The Armistice just created WWII. I only remember it for the people who died, the political end to the war was a sham and just created the second world war as Germany was given such an awful deal.
Yes the Treaty of Versailles was one of the causes of the second world war, but not the only one.
I don't care. It's me and my girlfriends 1 month anniversary on the 11th.
Hey fuck you buddy.
I don't care. It's me and my girlfriends 1 month anniversary on the 11th.
Go die.
Some asshole TV ad producer made a travel commercial with an older fellow packing his bags and then saying "I remember the day when I stormed the beaches, after the first shot, it was all a blur." And then immediately a sign popped up above his head saying "CANCUN $399 BLAH BLAH...". Pisses me off, no respect. edit: Found it. Looks like a company representative actually apologized in the youtube comments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RFoEn5EYJw
:frown: *sigh*... when will it end.
Or Passchendaele. The Canadian Corps. did what the British and French couldn't. :canada:
Iron Maiden have a song about Paschendale. Lyrics for those that don't want to listen:
In a foreign field he lay lonely soldier unknown grave on his dying words he prays tell the world of Paschendale Relive all that he's been through last communion of his soul rust your bullets with his tears let me tell you 'bout his years Laying low in a blood filled trench killing time 'til my very own death on my face I can feel the falling rain never see my friends again in the smoke in the mud and lead the smell of fear and the feeling of dread soon be time to go over the wall rapid fire and the end of us all Whistles, shouts and more gun-fire lifeless bodies hang on barbed wire battlefield nothing but a bloody tomb be reunited with my dead friends soon many soldiers eighteen years drowned in mud, no more tears surely a war no one can win killing time about to begin Home, far away. From the war, a chance to live again Home, far away. But the war, no chance to live again The bodies of ours and our foes the sea of death it overflows in no-man's land God only knows into jaws of death we go... Crucified as if on a cross allied troops, they mourn their loss German war propaganda machine such before has never been seen swear I heard the angels cry pray to God no more may die so that people know the truth tell the tale of Paschendale Cruelty has a human heart every man does play his part terror of the men we kill the human heart is hungry still I stand my ground for the very last time gun is ready as I stand in line nervous wait for the whistle to blow rush of blood and over we go... Blood is falling like the rain its crimson cloak unveils again the sound of guns can't hide their shame and so we die in Paschendale Dodging shrapnel and barbed wire running straight at canon fire running blind as I hold my breath say a prayer symphony of death as we charge the enemy lines a burst of fire and we go down I choke I cry but no one hears feel the blood go down my throat Home, far away. From the war, a chance to live again Home, far away. But the war, no chance to live again Home, far away. From the war, a chance to live again Home, far away. But the war, no chance to live again See my spirit on the wind across the lines beyond the hill friend and foe will meet again those who died at Paschendale

This is literally the only image on the internet that can make me tear up.
I believe garry should implement the minute silence into facepunch. Whoever posts within that silence gets a months ban for "Disrepecting those who fought for our lives" :britain: :911:
I don't care. It's me and my girlfriends 1 month anniversary on the 11th.
Hey guess what, no one gives a shit about your relationship that'll be dead and forgotten in a year. Have some respect.
I don't care. It's me and my girlfriends 1 month anniversary on the 11th.
Don't post if you don't care.
I still have fucking school tomorrow, and we don't do anything special to show our respect for Veteran's Day.
Freedom has a price
Rolling Pyro is showing his respect.
Freedom has a price
Freedom is not free :911:
I might try to put a poppy somewhere in my avatar. But where...little ones coming out of the pipe?
I might try to put a poppy somewhere in my avatar. But where...little ones coming out of the pipe?
sounds pretty original, do it
Gona skip work and do some visitations tomorrow. Hooah.
The Last 3 Veterans of World War 1 from the United Kingdom Harry Patch 17 June 1898(1898-06-17) – 25 July 2009 (aged 111) Harry Patch
Harry Patch lived in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, South-West England. I live there too, and was with the cadets, met him many times, on Remembrance Parade, and sometimes just down the street. Will be missed, will not be forgotten. God bless you Harry, and the rest of you brave, brave people. :frown:
Hatdragon pays his respects too.
as does turk, with a nice thumbs up.
