Just a pipe mayne. You can do it basically however you want. Bowl at top and a hole in side leading to the bowl for the toking.

Build a water bottle bong to smoke with. saves weed and gets you higher then a joint
and blow your hits outside and you won't smell at all
If you want a good homemade bong that's small and easy to put away, then just make the slider part.
As in make a bowl attached to a stem. It should only be around 15-20 cm, it's pretty small. And then all you need is a plastic bottle of any kind (which is pretty fucking cheap, and easy to find) to burn a small hole in, slide in your bowl, and make a choke by burning another hole somewhere.
And then all you do is throw away the water bottle when you're done, and keep the slider part. Torch lighters work wonders for making perfect holes in bottles, btw. When I used to do this before I got my bongs, I'd make perfect bongs everytime, using the same slider and different bottles.
I just had the greatest idea ever. GOnna get a plastic graduated cylinder and convery to bong and then make an ice catcher in it

I do this too. I hope you weren't re-using a folio base (Slider, right?) all the time. Because nasty shit burns from it. I mean, just saying OP that don't use folio as a base.
Instead of that, you can buy a glass base. It's cheap. Easy to wash and all. That, if you can't [b]hide[/b] a bong any where, even at any of your friends place. Living with parents hiding a freaking bong somewhere that smells 'yicky is pretty risky.
On a side note for bottle-bong, make it air tight.
if you do the apple idea i recommend using something as a screen, i tried that with a potato a while back when i was noob and i inhaled all the ashes. which sucks.
i'd go with the water bottle bong idea though, it'll be less harsh and you don't have to waste apples. and you don't inhale ashes.
