It's a real shame that they used CGI gore in a film that's supposed to be an homage to 1980's action flicks. Also, the film was pretty boring. I was so disappointed. The dialogue was bad and not bad in a cheesy 1980's type of bad... It's a real shame to see all those good actors have really shitty dialogue. The action was really bad, all the action is fucking zoomed in and shaky. I couldn't even see what was going on.
If they had Van Damme, Norris, and Segal in here, it would be perfection.
With Vin Diesel in there as well, would be even better. :v:
If I went to see this movie just for the action, would I still be disappointed?
No, The Expendables is action with another layer of action.

I think my neck is broken. And eyes. [sp]When Gunner was laying on the floor after being shot by Stallone's character he actually looked about 4 times taller than Stallone because of the curve on the screen[/sp]
No, The Expendables is action with another layer of action.
And a healthy basting of bullshit.
Where the hell is Vin Diesel in this movie? They needed him.
So from what I've been seeing, this movie sucks?
yep basically. hard.
So from what I've been seeing, this movie sucks?
Watch it, it's worth it.
well it's worth noting, and in the nature of getting a second opinion which is important, there's nothing worth seeing in the film that hasn't been done before but without such a god awful script, performances, and everything including awful action. i would happily erase my memory of the film so that I can say it wasn't even worth my time but that's just my opinion

I'd say movies like The A-Team or The Losers are much worse.
"I know your opinion is inferior"... Jesus christ, you do realise how unvelievably stupid some of the stuff you're saying is, right?
Look at his ban history for trolling, and everything will fall into place.
Look at his ban history for trolling, and everything will fall into place.
I uh, was never banned, as far as I know.
Whattt thhee ffuuuuuuuuu Booking tickets asap
See this fucking film ASAP. Saw this today and it was fucking amazing. EDIT: How the fuck is this dumb? Am I supposed to specify why? Ok, the film is pretty much an action orgy which is just fine unless your the sort of person who has to have some expansive and faultless story weaving it all together, if your that guy then don't go see it because you'll be dissapointed. But if insane amounts of violence with little to no reason is okay with you then go see it. For me this is fine. But go suck dicks for dumbing me for having an opinion.
See this fucking film ASAP. Saw this today and it was fucking amazing
see comments like this (as dumb as they may be) make me want to see this movie and the fact it has jason statham every movie ive seen with him has been awesome well that's my opinion
i saw it and it's really good! Who cares about the plot Action movies are about action, if you don't like action then don't watch action movies. simple. ye pussies
Just got back from seeing this. It's so badass and it's an action film don't expect anything but action.
i saw it and it's really good! Who cares about the plot Action movies are about action, if you don't like action then don't watch action movies. simple. ye pussies
this mindset is KILLING the film industry what do you think will happen if MOVIES LIKE THIS do better than other, more intelligent and well rounded films? films like Inception, which is incredibly well written, original, and has a great balance between story, intelligence, and action (as with TDK) will not be made. studios won't give out any or as much money to movies less profitable than retarded ham fisted action fests. YES, action movies are great. but consider some of the historically renouned actions - things like Terminator 2. Those films have a bit of everything, well rounded makes a good film. Those are fantastic actions. and YES, sometimes MINDLESS action is good too - when executed correctly. for example, movies like CRANK, where the action is ridiculous, over the top, but also witty, well written and for the most part, well acted. when you have films where the only good thing is the action (mind you, i hated the action in the expendables) you can't honestly say it's a good film. and if everybody DOES, then more people see it, it makes more money, then more films totally devoid of substance start being spewed into cinemas. nobody wants that. [editline]07:12PM[/editline] i hope i've changed your mind or at the very least made you think a little more about what you look for and enjoy in a film.

What a terrible waste of 2 hours. You thought it was well written and acted? I am definitely now seeing Expendales.
Why does the film even begin with story but then end without one? Most actors can't direct.
snip
I loved Crank however the sequel was 'eh'.
-Whats his problem? -He wants to be president. The whole fucking theater laughed and clapped. Epic movie.
This. Everyone in the cinema laughed.
though not better than the A-Team or Transformers cuz those movies were the best I've ever seen.
Ahaha oh wow.
I can't wait to see it, it's gonna be amazing. though not better than the A-Team or Transformers cuz those movies were the best I've ever seen. .
how old are you?
the A-Team was also a giant piece of shit and the only capable actors were Sharlto Copley and Patrick Wilson [editline]04:49PM[/editline] OK SO Here's what I thought of The Expendables: Most people seem to be on a consensus that it wasn't a good film but it was an enjoyable action film that delivered what was expected, but see that doesn't work for me. I didn't like most of the action either. First of all; the dialogue. oh man the fucking DIALOGUE. who wrote the screenplay, a 10 year old? Second of all, the only half-way decent acting scene was Mickey Rourke crying about some chick he could have saved, the rest was abysmal. As for what the film was all about, the action. really there were only 3 parts I enjoyed. 1. The bit at the start with the gun that blow a guy clean in half. 2. The bit where they broke a dude's neck with a downward kick. That was fucking awesomely brutal. 3. The autoshotgun mowing through the tunnel of enemies. Those were the 3 action sequences I enjoyed. the rest of the action wasn't even any good at all. For an action film where everything else sucks, it really did not deliver on the action at all and was all around just an awful film, I don't care how many big names were in it if none of them were any fucking good in the film. It was just an atrocious piece of cinema. I normally like Jason Statham in stuff like crank, where the action is so ridiculous and over the top, but this film has nothing on Crank. Absolutely nothing. Crank was funny and well executed, this was not. [editline]04:50PM[/editline] and fucking [sp]Dolph Lundgren randomly at the end, totally fine and forgiven. What the FUCK YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME[/sp]
Agree with how retarded Gunner being fine was but I disagree I thought all the knive throwing and shit was fucking badass too. Also I fixed some punctuation and capitals, I also changed the bit about the neck break because I don't think you put enough emphasis on just how insanely cool the downward neck snap kick was.
Why are you all getting so mad and uptight, I enjoyed it, that's my opinion why should I give a fuck if anyone else enjoyed it (or didn't) on a forum?
Ah, since apparently nothing really came out this week, an actual review video review of the Expendables has been done by my favorite source: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/1937-The-Expendables
