Why putting my damaged graphics card in the oven was the best advise I've ever listened to - General

Those lines on your screen aren't from a graphics card problem. It's a problem with your monitor. I had it on my last gaming laptop, replaced the screen and it worked perfectly. Also, that's amazing that it actually worked after that.

Reminds me of the time I had to wrap my RRoD 360 in a towel when I started it up to actually get it to boot. Worked for a year.

You're suppose to bake the card whilst the GPU is facing upwards. If the temperatures are controlled wrongfully, gravatational forces can actually yank the GPU right off the board if you reflow it with it facing downwards as a worst case scenario. I just did this with my YLOD'd launch PS3. (The "official" fix requires a "heat-gun". Where the hell am I supposed to get that?) Nothing happened though. Really, It changed nothing at all.
