Greatest shit EVER.
You know, I thought this was just a terrible troll or something. But I'm hearing about this in a lot of places, and I NEVER thought it was credible.

What's wrong with bumping a 2 week old thread when you have relevant content? It'd be bad if I did this with a 3 year old thread.
Can't you fix red ring'd 360's with this too?
You know, I thought this was just a terrible troll or something. But I'm hearing about this in a lot of places, and I NEVER thought it was credible.
Oh no, you might break your broken video card by putting it on the oven. How terrible.
OP
Holy god, I have the same graphics card!
Hold on, I'm going to make a thread just like this about deleting system 32.
Nvidia has a lifetime warranty... I've had my cards replaced like 3 times. Once they didn't have mine in stock so they gave me an upgrade.
Which manufacturer?
Read his post again. He said Nvidia.
What is "gasmark 6", can you give us a temperature?
I just did this with my YLOD'd launch PS3. (The "official" fix requires a "heat-gun". Where the hell am I supposed to get that?) Nothing happened though. Really, It changed nothing at all.
Why do all the 60GB ps3's break so easily for others? got mine launch day and has'nt had a problem, other than the CPU shutting off for no reason at all, it only ever happens when im using the internet browser. Luck.
I have an 8800GTS on my shelf and it doesen't work. I should try this.
Darn, should have tried this on my (now deceased and buried) 8600GT. The thing had a startup screen that looked like it came out of dwarf fortress. Really, had dwarves all over the place collecting magma and a few horses in crude walls. It actually looked really cool for the POST screen :v: That and the windows logo looked like it went through a wood chipper.
I did this to an Nvidia 8800 GTX card that overheated and died about a year ago. Be aware this is in no way a permanent fix, you are essentially part-melting every solder on the card to fix cracks etc but they will be more prone to heat related problems after this. I managed to get an extra six/seven months gaming out of my card from this though.
I may have to try this with my 8800GT...
Maybe my broken arm would get fixed and healed if I put it into the oven for 10 minutes, GREATEST IDEA EVER. Thanks for the advice.
My friend just fixed his 8800 GT with this. Thanks from him
OP should I leave the card to soak in it's own juices before pulling it out?

[editline]02:39PM[/editline] -SNIP-
I always said that as well, the PS3 in general is a reliable piece of hardware. (It YLOD'ed two days ago btw) I even replaced the thermal paste for the GPU and the CPU once, and removed dust from every single part twice. Actually, by opening my PS3 and comparing it to a 40GB model, I noticed that the newer 40GB one had a lot of better solutions for easier assembly/disassembly and better cooling. On a related note, the fans inside all the fat PS3's are huge 220mm fans, which are very silent since they don't have to spin very fast to maintain a solid airflow. I don't think my PS3 died because I wasn't taking care of it enough. Now, sadly I'll have to buy a Slim or an 80GB model. (No PS2 games for me :crying:)
I thought this oven thing was a common last resort fix?
This was only 3 weeks ago? Imagine me saying blimey in the voice of the australian from "on the moon" I've been doing that a lot lately :raise:
Hoooold the fuck up. Freezing a hard drive might be a temporary fix? Well fuck me in the arse Roger, I require some more information here. How long to freeze etc. etc. This might be promising..
Does this actually work? becaue I could use this instead of buying a new one.
This should answer your question
That is some kind of amazing bodge job if I have ever seen one.
tl;dr - Put your graphic card in the oven if it breaks because it actually works, don't forget to add salt.
:psyboom: Hey i might try this with my glitchy graphics card... Bought a new one since it died, but hell why not?
Perhaps it re-melts the flux and re-solders itself?
