Just a quick update for you guys, it's a temporary fix, the card died again a month later. ... So I cooked it again and now it's working, I assume for another month. :v:
Woah, sounds pretty cool :v:
Heh, same for my xbox. Shove skewers into the two fans at the back when it RRs. Let it overheat and BAM it works. Well, not anymore done it too many times.
I counter your artifacts with mine from my old card. I can't do the oven trick tho. I "fixed" it with a vise and a sledgehammer.
The truly polish way of fixing technology.
I can back up this claim, posted this thread http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=940152 a while ago, reida1589 then notified me of the "oven trick" I tested it out, it worked and has been working ever since
I did this to a BFG 8800 GTX a couple of days ago, worked good.
resolders the connections it is not magic
It does weaken them though...
I had a debate with my dad over this. I showed him this thread and he was pleasantly surprised.
How the shit... That's got to be some crazy voodoo magic or something.

I might chuck my whole computer in a furnace, and then quench it, to get it going a bit quicker then.
Maybe throw a computer in from the 1990's and it'll transform into a gaming computer with the best specs on the market. Why not give it a go mate?
Might throw my 1004 PSP in the oven since I ruined the USB port trying to mod it into being able to charge via USB. I still don't know why I wanted that mod, charging by USB is slow as shit. :downs:
What if my cock is broken? Does that work too? [editline]4623[/editline] Holy cock it works
Anyone know how likely it would be that you would damage the mobo if this goes wrong though?
Old thread, but is this a 100% solution? Does it ALWAYS resolder the connections?
Old thread, but is this a 100% solution? Does it ALWAYS resolder the connections?
I'd like to know too(Though mine has actual physical burns on it so...)
You can never be one hundred % sure, use it as a last chance.
Im 2 minutes away from trying this, should I take pics?
Im 2 minutes away from trying this, should I take pics?
Yeah, why not.
Yeah, why not.
Alright, waiting for oven to pre-heat, got some pics of the card on the alfoil. It's a shitty NVidia 8600 but it gets me by. [editline]11:24PM[/editline] I am very impressed.. this actually fucking worked. Welcome to Reflowing. the iMac likes to have the graphics chip separate from the board a lot.
