[sp]roose is still pretty evil. all the lords of the DREADFORT do horrible things to people. not to mention robb was doing fine until the red wedding. boltons are no better than freys[/sp]
[sp]Oh yes, he's evil. No doubting that. But just because he's evil doesn't mean I have to hate him. That's what I love about A Song of Ice and Fire, it's not black and white, except with Joffrey, because fuck that douche. Roose deserves to die, but I want to see more of him before that. As for Robb, you're delusional if you think he was doing fine. With Stannis defeated and the Reach declaring for Joffrey they were horribly outnumbered and without allies. Since Edmure Tully held the Fords against Tywin, Robb was unable to enact his plan to wipe out Tywin's army and possibly end the war. The Greyjoy's held the North, the Vale had not declared for Robb, Roose lost a third or so of his foot on the Green Fork and was penned up at the Twins. Marrying Jeyne itself did not end him, it was all those. Catelyn releasing the Kingslayer cast doubt upon him and caused his bannermen to question his leadership. Robb won every battle in the war, but he could not play the game. Oh, also, did anyone else notice the description of Queen changes in A Dance with Dragons? At first she is described as having wide hips good for childbearing, but Jaime describes her as having thin hips. Likely just a slip-up, but a man can hope.[/sp]

That was deliberate. I'm guessing (Dance)[sp]it's Jeyne's sister.[/sp]
i'm pretty sure martin fucked up in a adwd and called lancel cersei's nephew and not her cousin [editline]15th August 2012[/editline] yeah he did. cersei's chapter in adwd when she talks with her uncle kevan "you think i care about a cup of wine? lancel is my son, cersei. your own nephew." even though kevan is her uncle which makes lancel her cousin
I really enjoyed the first 3 books but at this point(book 5) I'd rather see him concentrate on less characters and do less lazy writing. I constantly find stylistic fuckups, I have huge parts of info I just don't care for and that are absolutely not necessary, I find myself skipping 10 to 20 lines in text without any consequences and then there is the whole new [sp]southern country, it's called "Dorne" in German[/sp] plot branch that has almost nothing to do with how the books started out and what I thought they would be about: The seven kingdoms fucking up while the danger in the north is rising.
Names that use non-English words (Dorne, Valyria, etc.) will be standard in all language versions. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if names that do use English words like King's Landing are standard too.

Dorne is another of the 7 kingdoms and isn't a city. It is where Rheagar's wife came from (and and her kids were killed in the sack of king's landing) and they have sat out the war of 5 kings for the most part.

Just because you dont see an immediate link up with the rest of the story doesnt mean their wont be. [/sp] [editline]15th August 2012[/editline]
Pretty much. Daenerys is as dumb as a sack of bricks, and all she does is fuck up and get her friends killed.
Well you have to remember that she is a 13 year old girl. Do you think you would make the most rational decisions at 13 year old? ADWD spoilers[sp]She has had to deal with people trying to kill her since she was a baby, a physically and mentally abusive brother, being sold to a Dothraki Khal then when things are looking good for her for the first time in her life, everyone she loves dies. Now she has a army, the first dragons in 500 years, and a city to rule over. She is making the best decisions that she can, and are they all good choices? No. But that's the great thing about ASOIAF, the people act like real people in real situations. Heros die, quests fail, and the good guys don't always win. [/sp] (excuse my bad grammar)
Worried about Sean Bean being typecast as a Ned Stark-like character? Worry no more
my penis doesn't know what to do with this
It's kinda disorienting when all the characters are like, under 16. Especially in the TV show when they hardly look like it.
I know how you feel. I thought I was the only one who had a minor problem with this. I guess though, if the actors were all the same age as the characters, there would be a LOT of legal issues.

He knew that Lord Walder was a prickly old man who takes any slight very personally, but Robb was grieving for his brothers so I guess I can understand. Thing is, he should have known not to trust Lannister bannerman, seriously, why did he ever think that was a good idea? And it wasn't just losing the Frey's that lost him the war, losing the North and Stannis getting annihilated didn't help. Since Edmure didn't let Tywin cross the Fords to defend the West Robb couldn't destroy Tywin's host like he planned. [/sp]

Moat Cailin would effectively mitigate the southern threat, if a proper garrison was held there. All they would need to do is clear out the Ironborn (who are vastly outnumbered), then take the northern levies south past Moat Cailin to deal with Lannister troops moving around the Riverlands. As long as they hold Riverrun and the Trident, everything would be okay.[/sp]

my will is strong enough to not click those you're making this page look like NSA headquarters
[sp]He was totally fucked. His army was disintergrating, he was letting people loose left right and centre, the Boltons were already planning against him anyway, even without the RW, and I can guarentee that they'd have struck if they hadn't had the RW, they'd have just waited until Robb was besieging Moat Cailin and then backstabbed him.[/sp] (ADWD)

And, there's the Riverlands houses. And, as ADWD shows, the North really, truly doesn't forget, and they all still swear by the Starks. I just feel that, in the end, things would play out well for the North. Perhaps worse than expected, but still OK.[/sp]
[sp] Winter will come[/sp]
Just finished book 5. [sp]This was probably the best book in the series so far, so much going on, and every chapter had a cliffhanger which just kept you reading on. Best chapters in my opinion were Arya: despite the fact that she only had two chapters, the fact she's going to become a Faceless Woman is pretty cool. Daenerys: it really sucks that around 5 chapters went to endless talk and Dany's insomnia, but she's still a pretty interesting character, Fighting pit chapter was best, since something exciting finally happens, with Drogon coming in and killing people, the ending was kind of cliché. Jon: All of the chapters were nice imo, but the thing that topped it all off was the ending where Bowen and Wick and the others stab him chanting 'For the Watch'. Even though it'd be a cliché if he was magically alive, i kind of hope he is since he's been one of my favorite characters throughout the five books.[/sp]

Hinds is the man, not who I was expecting but awesome casting imho
yeah not what i expected either. but then again i never pictured mance as being really old but i guess he kind of is isn't he
I always pictured Mance as someone who looks like Renly, but a little older. Don't ask me why.
i pictured him kinda like benjen's actor, but way more gruff http://i.lv3.hbo.com/assets/images/series/game-of-thrones/character/benjen-stark-1024.jpg
I just hope they give him a beard even though he doesn't have one in the book.
every northerner and wildling needs a beard to live
Mance has no beard? confirmed for small member
I never really saw Mance with a beard, but certainly thought he was much younger. A lot like this really;
i believe in the casting, considering when stannis was cast he didn't look like the stannis i imagined
