Winter is coming. I swear to the old gods, winter is coming.
The Drowned God shares none of your concern, for what is dead may never die.
The Drowned God shares none of your concern, for what is dead may never die.
I don't see any of those dead iron babies in the north coming back, pal.
I always imagined the iron price to be a flexible form of currency used in bartering. Like a gold chain is worth 3 ingots of iron.
-snip- tabs what do they do
Eh...wrong thread?
If you turn on AO in nvidia's settings it's much better than any ENB does and way less of a performance hit. Also I suggest realistic lighting and Zoner's configuration for it (from the skyrim nexus) along with Imaginator, I've got it and it looks really good with the only performance loss from AO, but that's not really noticeable but I assume it's there. I also have Dynavision but I've set it so it's only really there in tighter areas

wow thanks dude i can't believe i had ENB on when this is so much better
I always imagined the iron price to be a flexible form of currency used in bartering. Like a gold chain is worth 3 ingots of iron.
the iron price is death or stealing is what i got from the books. you can't buy stuff, you have to take it.
Eh...wrong thread?
Ever so slightly
I never really saw Mance with a beard, but certainly thought he was much younger. A lot like this really;
I always pictured Mance as looking like Viggo Mortensen in the Lord of the Rings but that's because I pictured half the characters as looking like Viggo Mortensen when I couldn't remember what they looked like
the iron price is death or stealing is what i got from the books. you can't buy stuff, you have to take it.
I thought this was pretty obvious
How the hell does the iron islands function at all. Either you kill somebody or steal something. In the end everybody would be dead or just stealing their own shit back from other people. It would collapse in on itself day 1.

There is still a barter economy, the whole iron price thing revolves around their culture with the mainland.
well the iron price is also the "old way" so it probably isn't as popular as it used to be when they were their own kingdom. they seem to have a barter system like arachnidus said but they used to be constantly raiding the mainland which is how they would get most of their shit
I don't understand how people have got some of these concepts but the iron price is a pretty simply thing to understand. For a start, I'm pretty sure it isn't a concept just confined to the mainland, instead it being a Iron Islands way of life. The Greyjoy words "We do not sow" pretty much explains how it works. They don't make anything, they take.
iron price is confined to jewelry and shit, they still buy regular things with money. note how victarion has a bunch of decorative armor fashioned as a greyjoy kraken, but no one gives him shit for it. balon calls theon a whore because of his necklace, not his clothing.
Fucking Sandor Clegane

I thought Balon was just attacking the most visible part of Theon's softness. http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Ironborn#The_Old_Ways
Two more characters cast. [thumb]http://winteriscoming.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/ed-skrein.jpg[/thumb] Ed Skrein is Daario Naharis Jacob Anderson is Grey Worm
He's smiling, too sullied 2/10 would not watch
Daario not flamboyant enough.
I pictured Daario as darker and grey worm as older, but I trust them, they haven't made and bad choices yet
Daario is described as pale in the book though. I agree, Skrein is not exactly who I imagined, but he must have impressed the casting directo so I'm looking forward to see him in character.
i think they'll make him look flamboyant when he's in costume/makeup. i've been pretty happy with the casting decisions so far. apart from them recasting gregor clegane, that was just dumb as heck. conan stevens was a brillaint gregor.
apart from them recasting gregor clegane, that was just dumb as heck. conan stevens was a brillaint gregor.
conan stevens bailed, tho [editline]20th August 2012[/editline] but yeah, i agree, he fits the mountain perfectly
conan stevens bailed, tho [editline]20th August 2012[/editline] but yeah, i agree, he fits the mountain perfectly
actually he didn't bail; despite getting a role in the hobbit he was able to work around the film schedule in order to still play his part in game of thrones, but hbo told him that they "wanted to go in a different direction with gregor clegane." and conan stephens was disappointed that he wouldn't be coming back

There's rape, kill and burn. Oh, then more rape.
What other direction is there with Gregor? There's rape, kill and burn. Oh, then more rape.
i've no idea why they wanted to recast, but for me there are two reasons i think stevens is better suited to the role. first, the current gregor seems a lot more subdued, imo i liked steven's gregor because of his vicious temper second is that the current gregor is just very tall and to be honest quite lanky, whereas conan stevens is very tall and hugely built, which is a more accurate description of the gregor clegane in the books (he could wield a greatsword in one hand and a shield in the other) here's a comparison of conan stephens and ian whyte. they're both 7'1" but i definitely prefer stevens. [img_thumb]http://www.celebheights.com/starimages/ian-whyte.jpg[/img_thumb] and here's conan stevens: [img_thumb]http://thepeoplesmovies.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/cstevens.jpg[/img_thumb] and both of them as clegane, might be a bit biased towards stevens as i can't find a full shot of ian whyte's portrayal [img_thumb]http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/5/58100/2334212-gregor_clegane.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb58377/gameofthrones/images/4/4f/Gregor_2x08.png[/img_thumb]
