What if Starks were unkillable except by beheading? Look at Bran and the Tully for example.
What about Rickard? He was burned to death. And Catelyn wasn't of Stark blood. [sp]And she did actually die anyway, only revived by Beric.[/sp] (<--Storm of Swords spoilers)
Big ol' book spoilers above me peeps! :)
What about Rickard? He was burned to death. And Catelyn wasn't of Stark blood. [sp]And she did actually die anyway, only revived by Beric.[/sp]
That's why I said the Tully! And there wasn't magic 20 years ago, bro.
That's why I said the Tully! And there wasn't magic 20 years ago, bro.
Not really. There has always been magic throughout the story, it's just that the potency has been dropped dramatically for various schools. The pyromancers have always been able to do some tricks, it's just after Dany gets dragons back that their wildfire and other tricks pick up power (it's book / series 2, so not a spoiler). Shadowbinders aren't really shown, but it's implied that their blood magic works constantly throughout the series, as Mirri Maaz Duur does when she "revives" Drogo. As for the Red God, we don't really know much, but (book 5) [sp]it's implied that the priests have always had some power, but recently they've gained more power, with Dondarrion and Stoneheart (keeping it vague in case someone accidently clicks) and the fact that Melissandre doesn't really need her powders much once she goes north.[/sp]
Why are we so fascinated of fantasy worlds that have some ancient, failed culture in them. Maybe because we fear that in 10k years WE may be that ancient culture in ruins?
Well. You guys have to consider that their heads were also cut off. I mean, why else would they have an entire area in the red keep designated to skulls on spikes?

Also, happy birthday to George Martin!
Just finished Book 2, [sp]Why is that assmunch Joffrey still alive, and I feel bad for Jon and Tyrion.[/sp] Anyway, on to Book 3! Edit: Oh fuck, I thought someone had posted after me and now I ended up with a double post.
Juuuuust wait. Just wait.
yeah you're going to hate GRRM when you realize joffrey never dies
yeah you're going to hate GRRM when you realize joffrey never dies
Yeah, that bit where he rides North and single-handedly wipes out the entire Stark army really caught me by surprise.
Guys, have you ever heard about spoilers?

Reminds me, I actually didn't realize while reading the last book, until I saw on a forum, that [sp]Manderly indeed probably cooked and served those three Freys up to the Boltons as pies. It was pretty obvious considering all the clues, but I just missed that while reading.[/sp] Love stuff like that. :v:
ASOS spoilers. [sp]This has probably been discovered already, but I just noticed this and it blew my mind. In the Frey game, Lord of the Crossing (the one they play at Winterfell with Bran.) You have to get the word "mayhaps" into a sentence without the other player catching it. If you do, you win the game and you no longer have to keep whatever promise you made. When welcoming the wedding guests to the Twins, Lord Walder says "and mayhaps some sausage?" when Robb requests something to eat. This releases the Frey's from the need to keep the guest-right and justified the wedding (sort of.)[/sp]

doesn't forgive nuthin' fucking freys man
doesn't forgive nuthin' fucking freys man
Yup. AFFC/ADWD [sp]A child's game doesn't excuse Walder. When the Manderlys come for his head and the Umbers mount it on a pike in Winterfell for King Rickon, mayhaps we'll see how he feels about that fuck up.[/sp]

Can anyone else not wait to listen to their friends talk about how much they want Dario to die so Dany can shut the hell up in season 3?
I wonder if the Valyerian steel vault will have a cameo in the next book.
and here i thought this was a storm of swords spoiler aaaaaaaaaaaaa
it is?
and here i thought this was a storm of swords spoiler aaaaaaaaaaaaa
My apologies, I'll update it to compensate.
it isn't a spoiler though?! just a joke
ASOS spoilers [sp]I'm feeling real bad for Tyrion, Shae apparently only likes him for his jewels and silks. Then Cersei comes along and takes all the glory for his work while Tyrion gets squat and is back at square 1.[/sp] Waiting for the day GRRM makes R+L=J real so he can become the King and make Tyrion the Hand so they can kicks loads of ass.
it isn't a spoiler though?! just a joke
Well, [sp]Wyman Manderly IS trying to depose the Boltons and reaffirm the Stark seat of power, and the Umbers are supporters of the claim, and Rickon is the best candidate for King in the North.[/sp]
I'm currently halfway through Feast For Crows and all I can say is I'm loving it, especially Jaime (he went from an ass to [sp]a suitable Tyrion replacement[/sp], I think his dickery was concentrated in his [sp]right hand[/sp] before [sp]Daffy Duck cut it off.[/sp]) But you know what I like about it the most? Littlefinger. I mean I loved him before, but he's easily now my favorite character when he's available. Speaking of scheming little shits, [sp]Cersei[/sp] chapters are a close second because of how [sp]god awful she is at ruling. I mean DAMN, she's almost as bad a ruler as she is a mother.[/sp]
