I'm about halfway through "Clash of Kings" and...wow. This series is really amazing. My favourite character is probably Arya, followed by Littlefinger and then Tyrion. My least favourite character would have to be Sansa, then Dany, then Joffery. [sp]Before he died, Khal Drogo was also one of my favourite characters, just seeing the way the savage warlord was so gentle to the Moon of his life was amazing[/sp]
Why Sansa.
I doubt anyone knows she's actually [sp]a Direwolf of House Stark.[/sp] Speaking of the Great Houses, I'm actually kind of surprised at just how far [sp]House Lannister[/sp] has fallen over the course of the series. I mean initially by A Storm of Swords I was under the impression the real loser was [sp]House Stark[/sp], but as Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons showed me, [sp]House Stark still has life in it, while House Lannister is sort of dying.[/sp] [sp]Tywin is dead, Kevan is dead, Jaime is reformed who can't marry/hold titles anyway and Cersei has lost all vestiges of respect or power following the Walk of Shame. Hell, the only hope for House Lannister is Tyrion, and he's a kinslaying imp widely believed to also be a kingslayer. In contrast, House Stark only lost what, a few kids and the parents? Sure Arya and Bran are potentially beyond saving as "Stark" children, but Sansa and Rickon are still alive and well.[/sp] It's actually amusing, there's a lot of talk about how House Stark's lawful stupid "muh honor" have gotten them into plenty of problems, but look at what that honor got them. [sp]House Stark is still widely revered and held in great honor by the North, even though they're functionally dead and hold no power as a political force. House Lannister in comparison put no stock in honor or respect (with Tywin famously saying that it's better to be feared/hold power then to be loved) and the results are glaring; they're in the same boat as House Stark, but with none of the support from others. No one loves them, no one cares for them.[/sp]
[sp]Everybody knows wolfs don't grow to be as big as horses except for the direwolves of old.[/sp]
[sp]Everybody knows wolfs don't grow to be as big as horses except for the direwolves of old.[/sp]
And every time a person is mauled by a lion, everyone says "Hey Lannisters, knock it off already, get those lions out of here!"
Except that hasn't been any spottings of lions outside Casterly Rock at all in the books, the only mention of them was when the Clegane family killed that one lion. :v:
One of the characters (think it was Cersei) mentions seeing them in a menagerie, too.
I think Tywin's father had lions in Casterly Rock.
Why Sansa.
Because she's a dumb bitch who, despite saying several times that "It isn't like the songs" still fucking believes it's like the songs. She refuses to do anything remotely resembling common sense, and her sole redeeming quality is having enough wit to force Joffery into sparing the occasional person, I honestly don't get why the hound likes her so fucking much. Man, I need to calm down.
Because she's stupidly innocent, while the Hound is extremely jaded and cynical.
Fair enough, though I'm fairly cynical most of the time and I can't stand her, but that's just his character I guess
well it also seems to me like the hound really wants to get away from joff from the start. having friends [sp], or in arya's case a hostage, [/sp]in other houses helps.
So can someone give me the rundown on how the Baratheons went from a splintered off Targ dynasty, to black haired?
they didn't. they were around before the targs, but targs married in / they married into the targs (political thing) years ago. so if you're wondering why robert had "the strongest claim" it's because one of his ancestors fucked a targ and their black haired genes won [editline]29th October 2012[/editline]
Robert's claim to the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms was based on his grandmother being Rhaelle Targaryen, daughter of King Aegon V, thus giving him a much stronger claim to the throne than the Arryns, Tullys or Starks.
[editline]29th October 2012[/editline] so mad king aerys was robert's dad's first cousin. so robert and rhaegar were second cousins
Yeah, I know that. But the first Baratheon was Aegon the conquerors bastard half brother, and during the dragon conquests, he was legitimized and granted the Stormlands.
rumored to be his half brother / bastard. anyways did you know there are white people with black ancestors? amazing how traits phase out after awhile... targs inbred and so that's why they stayed looking that way. if the founder of house baratheon was a bastard he was only half targ. he married a native stormlandian and presumably so did most of his descendants. i'm guessing stormlandians have black hair. rhaenys had black hair.
So can someone give me the rundown on how the Baratheons went from a splintered off Targ dynasty, to black haired?
I think the first Baratheon, Aegon's brother, possessed the dominant traits you find in most Baratheons today. Seeing as he was a half-brother, perhaps his mother carried those traits as well. Or maybe his wife was the dominant one instead, and passed on the legacy of the old Storm Kings.
First look at Daario and Missandei: http://winteriscoming.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/MisDaar.jpg
Not only does he not have a blue beard, he has no beard AT ALL??!! cancelling my hbo subscription
I thought Missandei was like 10, and Daario was Tyroshi, with all the colors to complement him. But whatever, I have to remember, this is Game of Thrones, not A Song of Ice and Fire. Hopefully he at least has his naked lady swords.
An older Missandei makes sense though. They'll probably want her to have some hanky panky with Daenerys, and that's not going to happen if she's 10. Also, a person under 18 can only shoot for a certain amount of hours (6 I think), while for adults I don't think there's a limit.
Yeah, this Daario probably fits better with the TV-series.

I think she had one of the Dothraki touch her up one night, but nobody else. Did the show kill off both Irri and Jhiqui? I think one got their neck snapped in Qarth, but that's it.[/sp]
Both are dead/out of the show.
Seven Hells, they have diverged something fierce.

Didn't even know this thread existed. Would've been better to post this here instead of the videos board. Thoughts?
