Ugh, I went to pick up the fifth book, of course in hardcover because the paperback isn't out yet in Canada (Seriously, get your shit together).
My jaw dropped when I saw the price, it is $45 here, it cost $25 to get the first four in one collection.
That's mostly down to the fact it's hardback. Hardback books always cost a pretty penny more than paperback.
If you really can't afford or justify the big price tag, wait a few weeks for paperback to come out.
Doesn't come out till March here :v:
Also whats the deal with Dany's chapters
A lot of people said they get boring so they ended up skipping them...
Is it safe to skip them or are there some key things for later..
Wow what the hell
Don't skip any chapters
Fucking lol to the people who skip Daenarys's chapters. Fucking idiots. You'll miss so much, and she's a big, big character for the later books, seeing as she's only going to go and conquer fucking Westeros.
THANKS for the spoilers
[editline]17th November 2012[/editline]
But yeah I was basically planning to stick with her anyway
She's already more interesting in the books than the TV show
I hope she just isnt such a whingy bitch in the later books
I AM A KHALEESI HOW DARE YOU DISRESPECT THE DOTHRAKI!!!! KHALEESSSSSSSSIIIIIIIIIIIII
Gravity, are you retarded? From the first scene you see her, she's saying how she's going to reclaim her rightful throne of Westeros. I didn't spoil anything.

Dany is such a shit ruler. She goes from pretty ruthless at the start (which is good), to whiney little philanthropist who doesn't want to kill anyone. I was annoyed at her change.
"No, I will not kill them, they are only following orders".
Dany pisses me off.
(ADWD) [sp]She goes and frees slaves, then basically forces people to work, only paying them with food and a bed, basically slavery, which Xaro rightly calls her out on.
She also tells a woman who lost her house, jewels and clothes during the sacking that she lost her house when she abandoned it, but she can have the jewels. Hang on a minute, Dany abandoned Westeros, yet she still keeps a claim? Talk about double standards.[/sp]

[sp]I'm pretty sure someone is going to point it out to her soon. She could do with some impslapping.
I want her to leave Meereen, not even necessarily to Westeros. Just leave that shithole with Drogon and go to the Shadow or whatever. Leave the freedmen behind, they'd be better off as slaves than starving in Westeros.[/sp]
Most of Danaerys' chapters in Dance With Dragons can basically be summed up by "I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing"
Picked up season 1 bluray for 20 euros yesterday.
Felt good man.

[sp]Cersei's[/sp] chapters can be summed up like that as well.
If there was anything oddly satisfying about Feast for Crows, it was her chapters.
It's an amazing series, and a great read, however some of the books (only one or two of them, can't remember which) are a bit stale, but other than that, they're fantastic. Say goodbye to everything else, as you'll get hooked in no time.
Book 3 is bloody amazing, book 4 is pretty stale. Book 5 picks up a bit though half way through iirc
I hate how people refer to books and I've completely forgotten which are which :( I read the series about 2 years ago, one after another. I finished in about 2 months or so, and once the new books came out, I read them without rereading the first ones, so I vaguely remember things.
I should reread it all again, though, but it's just daunting because it's such a long series.
[sp]what kind of face did you want him to have lol... He's not meant to look like anyone special??[/sp]
[sp]I got familiar with the initial face!![/sp]
I liked the initial face as well. Seemed more sinister and cunning. Second face was a bit :downs:
Does anyone else think that narrator monologues for the POV characters could be used to help detail scenes and explain them? It'd give the show a nice touch

[sp]The thing that pisses me off the most about dany is that no one else calls her out on her shit. She's incredibly hypocritical, dim witted, annoying, and entitled. But everyone else seems to have nothing but praise for her.[/sp]

[sp]Because she's the queen. And has dragons. And might be a little crazy.[/sp]
HBO to air “graphic tease” for season three tonight: http://winteriscoming.net/2012/11/hbo-to-air-graphic-tease-for-season-three-tonight/
When you say graphic tease does that mean a graphic trailer or a graphic as in an image
It will probably be like the season 2 teaser. An image and a line of dialogue.
I wounder what that line will be.. I mean "The night is dark and full of terrors." really sums up the second season. (that was the line for season 2 right?)
Yeah, that was the line for season 2.
Maybe something spoken by Mance Rayder for this teaser? The Spanish GoT Facebook page had "There’s no shelter from the storm" written along with the new poster.
Err what? Just watched it, don't really remember if it was in the books
[sp]Because she's the queen. And has dragons. And might be a little crazy.[/sp]
[sp]It's more than just the people in her immediate vicinity though. I remember Illyrio telling tyrion that she was a true Targarian like Rhaegar and a natural leader.[/sp]

She's a really shitty leader though.
Reading A Feast for Crows
[sp]Seriously sick of Sam and Brienne, the only chapters that really interest me anymore are Cersei and Jaime[/sp]
The whole thing with Brienne was probably the only thing I grew tired of [sp] Considering that her whole section is just overuse of dramatic irony, it's just like "Yeah, I get it, these are the paths that have been tread by other characters in the previous books.[/sp]
She's a really shitty leader though.
Which is exactly my point.

The tease.
