Cutting off Tyrion's nose would requite CG work on his face for every single shot he's in. A lot of screentime + a lot of hours put into CG work = expensive. Boardwalk Empire mostly consists of adding backgrounds, which takes much, much less time than digitally altering someone's face. It would also be harder for the general audience to find Tyrion likeable if he has a gaping wound in the middle of his face.
I wish there was actually a way to watch Season 2 other than piracy. They make it impossible to watch the show without paying ridiculous amounts of money out the ass to get the channel or waiting an entire year for it to come out on DVD (it's still almost a month before S2 comes out on DVD). I'm trying to resist pirating this, guys. But it's getting harder every day not to.
All fair points, I just think that the way the scar is now is a bit underwhelming
So I've never seen this before, but my dad's birthday is coming up and I was considering getting him the season 1 box set. I know he likes shows like Doctor Who, Stargate, Warehouse 13, and Merlin. I'm not sure if any of those shows have similarities with this one - do you think he'd like it?
GoT is a fantastic series, and your dad seems to really enjoy sci-fi/fantasy, so if you think he won't mind some excessive nudity, then yeah, I would say he will love this show.
It's not supposed to be there. Then again Robb was supposed to marry a lady of a minor Westerland house so I guess an ever present nose is acceptable. And it really doesn't look that bad.
Ah, gotcha. Never finished the second book due to wanting to get into the series without knowing everything.
Since removing his nose is kind of out of the question they should have just thought up some new kind of scar they can do for the show. Something they can do with makeup but much nastier then the long cut he has now. That's not the kind of wound you get from a sword to the face.
Personally I am not really bothered by either Tyrions nose or the Targaryen eye colour, but the one thing I really hope is that [sp]Jaimes hand[/sp] isn't cheesy looking.

I'm sure he won't mind excessive nudity - I don't think anyone objects to that.
oh my god shut up
10/10 contribution
James Purefoy and Kevin McKidd still angry about Rome being cancelled. Won't say yes to GoT if asked: http://www.empireonline.com/interviews/interview.asp?IID=1624
Speaking of Rome, that was another very ambitious show. Is there still a sense of sadness that you guys didn't get to take it further? [Kevin] McKidd and I had lunch the other day, and I said to him, "Have you been asked to do Game Of Thrones?" And he said, "I'd never do it. Because they stole our fucking show." He worked out that if Rome had run for the entire seven seasons that it should have run, we would only have finished it last year. And he feels that HBO did Game of Thrones instead of us, so they stole our show. I kind of agree with him. I won't be doing Game Of Thrones, even if they ask me.
Very bummed about this. Purefoy has always been my first pick for Euron and McKidd for Connington :( Hope Ray Stevenson doesn't feel the same, because I really want him for Victarion.
It's kinda dickish that they won't work with GoT just because HBO decided to be an asshole. It's not like GoT went to HBO and said HEY CANCEL THESE GUYS' SHOW SO WE CAN COME ON, did they?
Honestly I can understand it when people are pissed off that a certain TV show gets cancelled. We've all been there and you're lying if you say you haven't.
I really liked Rome too, it's ending was kinda disappointing. But they got the guy that played Brutus, and he was great. Rome had a stellar lineup.
I really liked Rome too, it's ending was kinda disappointing. But they got the guy that played Brutus, and he was great. Rome had a stellar lineup.
Ending was rushed because it was going to be cancelled.
Ending was rushed because it was going to be cancelled.
Yeah, that's why it was kinda shit. [sp]RIP Lucius you're always in my heart[/sp]
oh my god shut up
Thank you. Does anyone know if filming has stopped yet or what? Also, I think sometimes it's better to have NEW actors, I don't necessarily see Ned Stark, I see Sean Bean. At least I tell myself that so I'm not sad that x actor isn't in it
Most of the actors in GoT are semi-famous in the UK; a lot of them appear in dramas on the BBC and ITV. I think Liam Cunningham (Davos) is in the upcoming series of Doctor Who. So yeah, Sean Bean was something of an anomaly in the first season, but I remember reading he was the first choice for the role and the producers were determined to secure him for it.

Yeah I was just using Sean as an example. And DaysBefore, Maisie is now getting loads of stuff from I assume her GoT'ing
And DaysBefore, Maisie is now getting loads of stuff from I assume her GoT'ing
I know I saw her in a great Funny or Die sketch around the Olympics. It's good she's getting stuff, she's one of the best on the show.
GRRM posted something that looks like a casting clue on his blog. The ones for season 1 and 2 were pretty easy, but I'm stuck on this: http://grrm.livejournal.com/310379.html Edit: So people found out he's hinting at Bart the Bear, a professional bear actor. We all know what that means!

They made it for the first season, too. I think the Freys only appear for, like, 5 minutes in one episode?
Yeah and even then its 5 minutes of a dirty horrible old man. Not to mention wearing a Frey shirt would earn you a slap off anyone whos read past the 3rd book.
I liked Ser Stevron at least. [sp]Too bad he either died of a wound or was murdered by Black Walder.[/sp]

Spoiler tag that shit.
