the big black guy in the city is awesome
Xaro Xhoan Daxos
Not too keen on him myself, characters like him just scream "ulterior motives" to me [sp]even beyond him wanting to marry Denearys[/sp]
Not too keen on him myself, characters like him just scream "ulterior motives" to me [sp]even beyond him wanting to marry Denearys[/sp]
at least he is pretty honest in the show. in the books he kind of came off as trying to be convincing about liking her (but wasn't)
hodor was born for the iron trone
Just watched episode 9 - Baelor. My fucking god. Could they dumb down the story any more? I was just beginning to think the show had something going for it. [sp]That huge battle with Tyrion and Bronn and the Lannisters? Nope, he randomly gets knocked out before the battle even starts and he magically wakes up after everything happens. That was arguably the most exciting part of the book, and they completely fucked it up. Where's the part where Tyrion is in the thick of the battle and fights people two times his size and fucks shit up? Nope, I guess their production budget was too low and they had to make "sacrifices". Come the fuck on, I was expecting something on the level of The Lord of The Rings. Also the fucking part where Ned dies was kind of underwhelming.[/sp] Fuck you, fuck you.
They had a budget of like 50 mill. Thus no battle. Sacrifices had to be made.
how is not showing a battle scene "dumbing down the story"
yeah id say any cut stuff is due to time / budget constraints and not to make it easier for the audience.
Yeah, why would you expect a LOTR scale scene in a tv show with 10 episodes? That fight scene isn't even all too important and losing it changed little. Showing [sp]Tyrion dropping dudes and being a proficient warrior would seem a bit weird on screen.[/sp]
E-mailed a casting agent and was told that this guy is going to audition for a role (Kristofer Hivju): [thumb]http://g.api.no/obscura/pub/698x698r/03356/1280385134000_3351691777_3356344698x698r.jpg[/thumb] No specific role mentioned but my guess would be Tormund.
I liked Tormund
well if you want book spoilers as to who she killed (each spoiler is a different tag so you can read just the ones you want to): [sp]she didn't have the tickler killed. she had some guy who boasted about rapes killed.[/sp] [sp] then she had the person she worked for killed (it wasn't twyin in the books). [/sp] [sp]then she names jaquen himself, and as he doesn't want to kill himself, helps her defeat the lannister garrison instead.[/sp]
Why not Joffrey? WHY? Tyrion fighting like Gimli and killing hundreds would be fucking stupid.
I never said I wanted him to be good at fighting. I just wanted them to show the scene because it was one of the best parts in the book. I'm guessing they're not going to show the [sp]Battle of the Blackwater[/sp] either, which will be even more of a disappointment. By "Lord of the rings" battles I just meant that I wanted them to be able to show tens of thousands of troops fighting at once. The fact that there were "Time and budget restraints" doesn't excuse the fact that they did a shitty job.
They are going to show it, but you should spoiler it anyway just in case.
Why not Joffrey? WHY?
[img_thumb]http://gameofthrones.net/images/Westeros_Maps/Map_Westeros_Political.gif[/img_thumb] Look at where Harrenhal is. Then find King's Landing. That is why she did not say Joffrey. Ep 9. ACoK spoils [sp]Blackwater will be shown. They reserved $15,000,000 for the episode alone.[/sp]

Later on she said she regretted her decision of choosing trivial people and she should have chosen someone important like Tywin. I'm not sure how far the guy would have been willing to kill, but he made it seem like she could choose any three people and he would kill them for her.

Whole episode 9 will be dedicated to [sp]The Battle of Blackwater.[/sp]
Tyrion never fought in that battle for one, and there aren't any fights with tens of thousands of troops, it's a realistic fantasy.
Did you even read the books? He led the mountain clans into battle, randomly charged around on his horse, fell off his horse, fought a guy one on one and almost got killed, and then got rescued by Bronn. The scene lasted a few pages.
Tyrion never fought in that battle for one, and there aren't any fights with tens of thousands of troops, it's a realistic fantasy.
There were battles with ten thousand troops in real life, and there were battles like that in the book too.

She took it into consideration, as would any logical person. Just because GRRM doesn't explicitly say Arya didn't kill Cersei Lannister because it was too far, but you're supposed to assume things too. She does regret not killing more important people, but she's also a child in a shit situation herself.

I think the author had it in mind when he was writing that part, but Arya herself did not.
Why aren't we spoilertagging stuff anymore, people?
I'm wondering that too.
nipple you need some spoiler tags there mate.
I don't think she took that into consideration when making the choices.
she regrets it after [sp]tywin leaves.[/sp] im pretty sure though in the books her first victim was a test just like in the episode. the second was [sp]her just raging at that guy for being an ass, [/sp] and the third [sp]her escaping[/sp]

I left the thread, sorry about that. I'll just spoiler everything that hasn't happened yet in the show.
I left the thread, sorry about that. I'll just spoiler everything that hasn't happened yet in the show.
That's usually what spoiler tags are for.
That's usually what spoiler tags are for.
Thank you, you seem very smug.
Best episode of the season thus far. God damn, Arya's actress needs to win awards.
Thank you, you seem very smug.
You came into a thread with virtually no regard for spoilers. It makes it even worse when you gave a way a pretty big twist in my favorite plot line from the books. Sure, I'd already read it but it's something I don't want to see spoiled for other people. What do you expect?
