Not sure if that is good or bad. I smell a lot of deaths.
spoilers [sp]rickon kills hordor[/sp]
[sp]Bran, on Hodor, kills Theon[/sp]
Wow those two spoilers are so damn tempting. [editline]29th May 2012[/editline] Well done guys.
Can someone explain why the defenders were using flaming arrows against the attackers on the riverbank?
Can someone explain why the defenders were using flaming arrows against the attackers on the riverbank?
morale reasons book 3 summed up: hordor emerges from hiding and kills theon and his ironmen. this causes the nothernmen to realize robb is a false king and they abandon robb and become loyal to hordor. the kraken, distraught at the loss of his last son, also swears fealty to hordor. with stannis not really a threat and just the lannisters left hordor marches on kings landing and, telling his army to stay back, single handedly takes kings landing. for returning sansa safely to lady stark and destroying house lannister cat gives hordor permission to marry sansa. turns out that rickon has a sister complex and kills hordor in a fit of jealousy at sansa and hordor's wedding. oh and jaime realizes cersei is a cunt and has nasty sex with brienne. [sp]and danny wants her dergons back[/sp]
to see where their arrows are landing?
By the way about the scene with Tyrion in latest episode: [sp]Uh, I don't get it, who was it that slashed his face? I don't remember someone wearing that armor on the boat.[/sp]
By the way about the scene with Tyrion in latest episode: [sp]Uh, I don't get it, who was it that slashed his face? I don't remember someone wearing that armor on the boat.[/sp]
actual spoilers [sp]one of the kingsguard joff sent with him. aka one of "his" men / an "ally" of his. that is why they just stare at each other for a minute, tyrion thinks nothing of him. his name specifically is ser mandon moore[/sp]
[sp]But why did Moore try to kill him[/sp]
[sp]But why did Moore try to kill him[/sp]
[sp]I believe it's because Cersei wanted him dead.[/sp]
[sp]I believe it's because Cersei wanted him dead.[/sp]
i dont think you ever find out but that is the main theory
[sp]I believe it's because Cersei wanted him dead.[/sp]
It's never explicitly stated, but it's believed this is why.
Can someone explain why the defenders were using flaming arrows against the attackers on the riverbank?
This. Why didn't they just open the gates for them?
[sp]But why did Moore try to kill him[/sp]
[sp]I don't think he was ordered to do that. Previously on the show he appeared as a pretty aggressive guy and showed hatred towards Tyrion. I think he simply saw opportunity to kill Tyrion for own personal revenge and later blame it on Stannis' troops.[/sp]
The defenders were using fire arrows for rule of cool only, (barring the wildfire) as sticking rags on your arrows decreases the range and makes them more susceptible for wind. The main peeve that I had was the fact that everyone (both Davos and Tyrion) are ordering their archers to hold (as in arrow nocked, bow pulled). The correct orders should just be nock and loose, most longbows designed for war have a tension too heavy for you to hold the string for very long at all, and all you'd do is tire your men. These aren't modern compound bows with a 25kg pull assisted by pullies, some medieval war bows went up to 60kg pull, but you'd commonly find them at 50kg or so. This also shows in the way that the actors were drawing them, they were using their arms when bending the prop bows, as opposed to the way you'd draw a war bow, which involves pulling from your back muscles and shoulders in addition to the arms. To give a good idea of the strength of a full warbow, you can expect it to go through several cm of oak, so it'd fuck your day up.
I'd agree with Thrawn on the fire arrows... I'd be more scared of fire arrows than regular.. at night.. But yeah I noticed that too Term I think I actually commented on it to my friends while watching it.. holding a bow at full draw is hard..
[sp]fuck you tywin i dont like you anymore[/sp] [editline]sds[/editline] [sp]this will only make your death more enjoyable[/sp] [editline]sdfsafs[/editline] Oh and there might be some book spoilers in that second spoiler

But from my knowledge that comes straight from medieval total war I know that arrows had a demoralizing effect, thus fire arrows (although I thought using fire arrows at night was a bit dumb since people could see where the arrows were going)
You also have the rag diminishing the effect of the arrow on the target, it's going to provide a layer of cushioning that's going to slow the speed of the arrow when it hits. p=w/t, so you're decreasing the power the arrow has by slowing it with the rags. The fire is still pretty scary, but I'd almost say that the unknown of not being able to see the arrows would be just as terrifying. I give way too much thought to this kind of stuff, it'd just be nice to see it be done properly for once. :v: My knowledge is only based on the fact I used to do archery with a really lightweight recurve bow (16kg or so) and AS level physics and mechanics, so I don't really know too much about how it worked back then.
I had no idea you put rags on the arrows. I thought you just stuck it in a fire and the arrow just burned.
God damn it dog. People love killing other people, we get it, get over it.
Goddamn that was an awesome episode. [sp]Goddamit Tywin I still like you but I wanted Stannis to sack King's Landing, also was Loras wearing Renly's armor? and I'm really liking The Hound and Lancel more after this episode.[/sp]
I'm liking Stannis a lot more in the TV series than I did in the books now. dem drums

I thought it made him look even more like a little bitch.
This episode made you like Lancel more? I thought it made him look even more like a little bitch.
He looks like a woman and he does look dumb.
I mean we at least know he can fight now, most of the other episodes just some him walking behind people and whining.
I'd rather see a European actor, for example Mads Mikkelsen.
Yeah but still I think it'd be a nice role for him simply because [sp]he winds up getting that charred magic black hand after Moqorro heals it, and thats pretty much a throwback to his role in Hellboy.[/sp] And he's expressed interest in acting on the show, and he did work with Martin in Beauty and the Beast before too. On another note in the episode before last (the 8th one I think) Jaime mentions that there are probably only 3 other people capable of beating him in combat. Anyone have an idea of who they might be? My guesses are Barristan Selmy, Loras, and I don't have any idea of who the 3rd might be.
The mountain?
