No way I could start for the third book? Not even the second? I will start reading tonight.
If you're not gonna start from the first book, don't even fucking bother.
LF has no gold, he pays for things with promises. The crown has quite a large debt thanks to him.
Littlefinger is rich as fuck what are you talking about.
Was that scene with Joffrey and the two whores beating each other in the books?
No, it was Sexposition.
Really? I thought it was really well done. A lot of people seem to hate it, though. It's mostly due to the fact that Joffrey is a child or something.
In my eyes, if you're disturbed easily, you shouldn't be watching this show anyway.
ASOIAF is all about kids being put into fucked up situations because it's a medieval-esque world, and it's a very brutal one at that.
In a real medieval world it would be much worse.
I had someone tell me Sansa is a fucking idiot for not going with the hound.
Winterfell is several thousand miles away from King's Landing.
Do you think she would make it back, passing through the lands where there are sellswords, assorted scum, entire ARMIES marauding around? Do you think The Hound would be able to fight an army on his own?
She would be raped a 1000 times if she was lucky, and probably killed afterwards.
Staying in King's Landing was the only logical choice, and she took it.

Not really. Babies having their heads smashed against walls.
About 80% of girls having experienced rape, some of them 6 or 7 years old
Children being forced to kill babies and puppies.
well in the novels all the kids are younger (for the most part). Joff is 14 in the books 17 in the series (I think)
Dany is like 14 at the start of all this

13, actually.

See, I don't think people understand just how fucking huge Westeros is. Whatever planet this is set on, it must be massive.
Leagues would seem to be the standard unit of measurement in Westeros, which roughs out to 3 miles per league. There are references to tens of thousands of leagues across Westeros, one continent. The trip from King's Landing to the Wall was referred to as 1,000 leagues. That's close to the distance (approximately) from New York to Los Angeles. We are talking massive distances across this continent.
Essos is even bigger. The distance from the Dothraki Sea to Qarth (across the Red Waste) must have been like going from the northernmost shore of Russia to Vietnam.
George R.R. Martin is one big pedo.
Littlefinger is rich as fuck what are you talking about.
Is his wealth ever shown? He gets loads of fancy titles and land, yeah, but we're never actually shown his gold.
we're never actually shown many peoples' gold. he owns the finest whorehouse in king's landing, i'd expect that to be worth something
Is his wealth ever shown? He gets loads of fancy titles and land, yeah, but we're never actually shown his gold.
In the books hes described as someone who could take two dragons and rub them together to make a third. He's rich as fuck.
George R.R. Martin is one big pedo.
he describes it really well in one of his interviews (why everyone is so young). basically back then people didn't have the concept of teenagers and young adults; it was kids and adults. you can still see remnants of this school of thought today with all these "rites of adulthood" that religions have (like a bar mitzvah, but no one considers you a man after in today's society. back then they would've)
so basically dany would be considered an adult, not a child or a teenager or a preteen or whatever
In the books hes described as someone who could take two dragons and rub them together to make a third. He's rich as fuck.
And where does that money come from?
I don't doubt that he has money, but I think he has been intentionally siphoning money away from the crown and taking massive loans to cover for it.
He's a self-made man, he made shitloads of cash way before he ever was affiliated with the crown.

Where does the third dragon come from? It's all unpayed loans
I mean, shit, (book 4-5 spoilers) [sp] A debt collector from the Iron Bank of Braavos comes to court to get the outstanding gold, but they can't pay because they're in HUGE debt because of LF. The bank end up funding Stannis because they know he'll keep his promises and pay them back [/sp]

This just in, King's Landing goes into economic recession because the court's treasury department is run by one man. In other news no one else on Westeros cares because they're all dirt poor.
Was that scene with Joffrey and the two whores beating each other in the books?
A bit more on this: In A Clash of Kings, the scene where Joffrey [sp]gets Boros Blount and Meryn Trant to beat and strip Sansa is more brutal,[/sp] but since they had to tone it down for the series they added in that scene to make Joffrey seem completely amoral.
Honestly Joeffrey isn't so bad in the tv series towards the end (when Tyrion is slapping his shit everytime he does something retarded)
Don't get me wrong, he's still a little cunt I would punch everytime I saw him, but in the season finale he was... bearable.

Think that was only because he got everything he wanted and now looks hardcore.
Though it was strange to see his character act loyal towards Sansa due to his vow, was he pretending or what?

he's putting on a show for the court so he has a legitimate excuse to dump sansa. notice how pycelle already spoke to the high septon about it?
Season 2 finale question [sp] what's the name of the guy that knocked Theon across the head in the Winterfell courtyard?[/sp]
Chris Finch!
Joffrey's going to go back to being a cunt soon. He can't put on this act for too much longer; it wouldn't be like him.
Book 3 big spoiler [sp] he'll keep being a cunt yes, but not for long. *wink*[/sp]
I hope they dont cut [sp]Victarion Greyjoy[/sp]
I hope they dont cut [sp]Victarion Greyjoy[/sp]
Seeing how the battle of blackwater is over and they have their budget back for season 3 I'll imagine they'll have enough to cast some new actors along with Boltons Bastard.
I forgot to mention one thing from the last episode. Brienne is to me like a good, honorable version of the Hound.
I can't really put my finger on why, but ever since Season 1 I've had this feeling that Jon and Dany were going to somehow meet.
Then the Dany vision sequence happened...

The House of The Undying scene was a rather large departure from the books.
