Bought the first season and watched the first 3 episodes. Definitely not regretting it. Also I have a burning hate for the [sp]blonde prince that got his hand bitten by the wolf[/sp].

I'm amazed by how good the child actors are, despite almost no previous film or TV work.
You silly peeps, hating the little children from the first season. Let me tell you, most of that is entirely insignificant compared to the rest of the series, worse occurances than your petty minds would allow you to imagine. Annoying prince? Whatever. He's stupid and easy to control, poses no real threat to a kingdom, should he have the right kings hand backing him, which he does. [editline]13th March 2012[/editline] The mass amount of detail, character development, and simply characters that's missing in the show makes the books pretty much mandatory, you're not going to experience a quarter of the plot if you simply rely on the show. It's awesome however, reading and watching simultaneously, and being aw'd by how they managed to portray what they did so well. [editline]13th March 2012[/editline] Also, shit gets real weird, [sp]with undead rebels, people capable of being revived, zombie Gregor Cleganes, littlefinger secretly steering the entire realm to do his bidding, magic shadow vagina creatures that murder people in the night, bran and the entire family being able to take their wolves bodies and those of other animals/people, giants, and errythang imaginable.[/sp] [editline]13th March 2012[/editline] [sp]Alas, Robb dying has little to do with the fact that he was a badass in full. No previous war experience, outsmarting experienced tacticians with fewer resources at his disposal, etc. He was around 14/15 years old in the book. Also, I'm pretty sure Tywin IMPLIED something along the lines of a Red Wedding to the Freys.[/sp]
[sp]Well I still hope the Lannisters loose to the starks/stannis/arynn hold whoever, I just hate them when it comes to their characters, but I love their acting.[/sp] Although these conflicts make great stories and events.

I'm starting to think that they may not finish the series, or swap the child actors, as they'll age much too fast.
I'm starting to think that they may not finish the series, or swap the child actors, as they'll age much too fast.
How old was the Harry Potter cast in the final movie? They should've been 18. [editline]Wait[/editline] Scratch that, by the way. They are already years older than they are in the books.
I don't think it matters if they end up being in their late teens/early twenties when they're done with everything. Let's say there's going to be a total of 7 seasons, and if we're assuming there will be one season per year, then the last one will air in 5 years. So for example, the actress playing Arya will be around 20. I guess they can extend the timeline. Edit: Jaqen!
Its good planning on their part so that they don't have to simulate 12 year olds boning each other.
One hell of a promo.. official too.
That's quite the spoiler for those that haven't seen it.
How big roll does Tyrion have the rest of the books/series?
Sort of already answered but [sp]Him and Jon are pretty much the main characters[/sp]
One hell of a promo.. official too.
that's...just salt in the wound
Sort of already answered but [sp]Him and Jon are pretty much the main characters[/sp]
[sp]Denaerys and Bran, too. Also, to a lesser extent, Sansa and Arya.[/sp]
[sp]Denaerys and Bran, too. Also, to a lesser extent, Sansa and Arya.[/sp]
All books: [sp]Hmm.. I think Tyrion & Jon have been the most important so far.. Dany wasn't really relevant to the over-all plot until everyone tries to get to her in ADWD (and won't get to her until WoW). Bran's plot moves really slowly and doesn't really get going until Dance. I saw a chapter count earlier that I'm trying to find, Jon/Tyrion were in the 40s (Tyrion having the most) and Dany had.. 24? With only 4 of them being important, I guess.[/sp]
Yeah, in terms of chapters, Dany is a bit lacking, but there are (ADWD) [sp]chapters for Quentin and Barristan[/sp] that cover her, too and she definitely does a hell of a lot in those chapters. [sp]Bran does kind of stay lacking, but it's implied that he is in the tree when Theon was talking to it, and he definitely has some large role to play, judging by how little he's done so far considering his chapter count.[/sp].

There's a shitload.[/sp]
Off the top of my head, I can only really think of [sp]Theon Greyjoy's change in ADWD and the earlier bit where the lack of Bran leads to him killing the miller's sons, so I suppose that Bran is kind of responsible for the whole Winterfell affair.[/sp] Then there is the bit where [sp]Summer helps by stopping Jon from being killed. I'd almost argue that Illyrio did a hell of a lot more than Bran in terms of importance, as did Varys.[/sp]

Jaime dreaming with his head resting on a weirwood stump. Possibly all scenes where the direwolves warn people etc. I'm sure there's more but I'm still rereading CoK.[/sp]
Here's the summaries of the first five episodes. Spoilers obviously: http://winteriscoming.net/2012/03/hbo-releases-details-and-summaries-of-first-five-eps/
what a piece of shit show, why would you kill a poor wolf.
what a piece of shit show, why would you kill a poor wolf.
because the king told you to? maybe??
what a piece of shit show, why would you kill a poor wolf.
Oh, you sweet summer child and all that.
