Gonna take a lot to change my opinion to that (might happen though).
Also is Braavos the city of badasses or what? Forell is awesome, and the guy [sp]Arya saves doesn't fuck around either. Also I don't imagine they are related, but it's weird how Arya is taught how to fight and saved by Syrio who is from Braavos, and then somehow another guy from Braavos ends up crossing paths with her and saves her again (also unless my eyes deceive me, that guy changed his face at will)[/sp].
Book 3+ spoilers I think. [sp] He does changes his face yes, because he is one of the Faceless Men, a guild of assassins that can change their appearance[/sp]
No, I meant in real life.
I still hate the guy. Less, but I still hate him.

Syrio and Jaqen are different people. I dare say that with a 99% certainty.
Syrio was a First Sword , AKA, a master swordsman.
Jaquen is fucking assassin's creed to the max.
Two entirely different skill sets.
Jaqen even says this in the season finale.

Syrio was the First Sword of Braavos, the BEST swordsman there (which makes me wonder how the fuck was he hired to teach some hillbilly lord's daughter in buttfuck nowhere, Westeros)
Jaqen isn't even necessarily Braavosi.

King's Landing isn't "buttfuck nowhere" per sé.
Westeros is considered backwards and a general shithole in general by everyone living in the east

I'm going to need a quote on that because I didn't really get that impression when I read the books.
I'm going to need a quote on that because I didn't really get that impression when I read the books.
I don't have the books on me right now, but there's lots of stuff in the [sp]Qarth, Meereen and Volantis[/sp] chapters. Particularly Dany stuff. Everyone is constantly telling her to forget Westeros.
Just to state it again, as the show didn't make it clear.
Jaquen H'ghar is not from Braavos, he is from Lorath.
King's Landing isn't "buttfuck nowhere" per sé.
Pretty much is, Westeros is seen as pretty backwards by the Free Cities (think Reneisence Italy) and the slave cities and Quarth and even in Westeros, King's Landing is a pretty bad place, everyone prefers Lannisport, White Harbour, Old Town, Sunspear (Dorne) and the like.
I get all that. Just saying that King's Landing isn't some backwater village with a population of 41.

For most of Essos it's a poor, distant trade partner with some silly laws like no slavery.
Non-readers, don't even touch.
[sp]
It was a well known fact that Rhaegar Targaryen was infatuated with Lyanna Stark.
At a Tourney, he named her "The Queen of Love and Beauty" instead of his OWN WIFE.
Shortly after the tournament Lyanna was apparently "kidnapped" by Rhaegar.
This seems very, VERY unlikely, given Rhaegar's character. This supposed "Kidnapping" started Robert's Rebellion.
Anywho, fast-forward 9 MONTHS. Yep, the time it takes for a baby to be born after conception. Ned Stark comes back with this bundle of joy, claiming to be his bastard.
But you've seen Ned. He's waaay to honourable to betray Catelyn like that.
Ned took Lyanna's baby, and claimed his as his own, because he knew that Robert would kill him if he knew him to be of Targaryen blood, coupled with the fact he was infatuated with Lyanna.
Being Rhaegar's son would make him not only Nephew of Danaerys Targaryen, but if he was legitimized by a kind (Erasing his bastardry), making him rightful heir to the Iron Throne of Westeros.
Boom.[/sp]

Don't fucking touch this unless you've read all the books
[sp]Most probably due to Complications from childbirth.[/sp]
[sp]Aegon VI is still the rightful heir even if Jon is legit. A male, legit descendant who is older than Jon.[/sp]
So because George W. Bush's head is shown on a spike in season 1 episode 9, HBO are now going to edit that shot for all future GoT S1 DVD's/Blu-rays.

Wait, I thought he was younger then Jon?
Either way, pretty sure he'll be dead soon.

[sp] Rhaegar had Aegon before Jon. Rhaegar couldn't have had any kids after he "kidnapped" Leanna because he got murked.[/sp]
Listening through the soundtrack of season 2.
Jesus christ they did a good job. Espically that song of Tyrion bedridden with Shae cutting to Robb getting a married.
[EDIT: Do not click/read if you haven't read any of the books at all.] [sp]rhaegar targaryen boned lyanna stark (ned's sister) after / before "kidnapping" her and their son was Jon Snow. Ned found lyanna as she gave birth and made him promise he would take care of jon and not reveal he was half targaryen (so basically ned covered it up). then she died. that's the theory anyways[/sp]
And then (book 1/season 1 spoiler) [sp]Ned died and the only other person left alive after they rescued Lyanna was Howland, so we'll find out from him if we ever get to see him.[/sp]
Dat Rains of Castamere.
Vague foreboding spoilers[sp]I can't wait[/sp]
Pretty much is, Westeros is seen as pretty backwards by the Free Cities (think Reneisence Italy).
If anything Westeros is early Dark Ages Europe and the Free Cities are the Islamic Abbasids dynasty.
Though Europe had a better life expectancy and cultural system (Kings, Lords, Vassals and Peasants) the Muslims had much better foriegn relations, were rarely at war with each other, had better philosophy, medicine and education (fun fact: they invented the number 0 and the number symbols as we know it 0, 1, 2, 3 ect ect) and of course... They got crushed by the mongols (dortahki anyone?)
How do you invent the concept of nothing, its pretty scary that it took us that long to figure out the concept of 0.
How do you invent the concept of nothing, its pretty scary that it took us that long to figure out the concept of 0.
They simply said and wrote "nothing" or "empty"
0 was simply to be used in maths, though it solved so many pages of writing. Imagine writing three thousand, three hundred and thirty three everytime you wanted to write a number.

grrm has said we'll find out who jon's parents are by the end of the series so we'll find out from somebody
also doc how can you compare free cities to a group that "were rarely at war with each other." free cities are at war all the time.

(Book/TV speculation spoilers about Jon's birth) [sp]I had it in my head Jon had Targaryen blood in him. It would kind of explain why he and Dany are major characters despite having little to nothing to do with the main plot (though both of their storylines serve as massive buildup to whatever happens in the next two books (haven't gotten there myself yet though so I'm going by guesswork alone)[/sp]

The only person alive who really knows Jon's true parentage is Howland Reed
So, Season 3 will cover the first half of Clash of Kings, while both previous seasons covered entire book 1 and 2. Although, they said that the tv show is the adaptation of the series as a whole, not individually by each book.

Yes. Mostly because a shitstorm of unknown magnitude takes place in the third book.

actually no, that's completely assuming that the [sp]R+L theory[/sp] is correct. if it isn't than really anything else is possible.

[sp]Let's hope Martin doesn't pull a Bioware and completely shoot off course from the R+L theory like they did with the Indoctrination theory in ME. Both are steeped in untold levels of evidence and would fit great on a thematic level. Only Bioware shit on Indoctrination. At least, if R+L isn't the true parentage of Jon Snow, whatever is should be surprising.[/sp]

i feel like grrm [sp]confirmed the theory awhile back to D&D[/sp]
grrm has talked about how although it is kind of dissapointing for fans to figure stuff out in advance he won't change the story if they do. he actually tries to not read what fans think / theorize becasue he says it does have the danger of him changing what he does (but he tries not to)
