But what? I'm not saying killing kids ain't bad, but worse things have been done.
I don't hate him for that. I hate him for [sp]the betrayal of the Starks, the fact it was partially his fault the entirety of Winterfell is now ruins and the fact I just don't like his character.[/sp]
I guess everyone has different opinions, I kinda think he never really betrayed Robb, mentally, only in his actions.

Aka only where it matters.

umm he only completely supported his father's invasion of the north... owned by robb...
i'm pretty sure he was like "hey maybe i can take the north, fuck robb!"
I want one on my bedroom door:
It really pisses me of when people chat shit bout Theon, he's my fave character, if you get to reading the books, you'll feel sorry for him, if not love him.

Doubtful. I don't care for his motivation, [sp]he betrayed the ones that helped him when they could have sold him off because of what? Because of his asshole father who hates him and gave him away? Even if, let's say, he was forced to do it or be executed, die fighting instead of being a ungrateful traitor.[/sp]
Honestly his motivations do not matter at all, his actions can't be motivated to me (I'm sure Joffrey has a whole lot of good motivations for being the little shit he is, according to him).

The difference being Theon has been shat on for entire life by everyone and after 9 years of being treated as a hostage (the only people showing respect being Ned and Robb) he comes home to find his father completely despises him, his men don't give a shit about him. And after a desperate attempt to win his father over and be respected he ends up doing some dodgy shit and ends up being completely fucked over.
He's more sympathetic than Stannis who in comparison is just a moody old git who does much worse things than Theon.
Now halfway through season 2, being on a roll here.
Holy shit, they keep making Joffrey more and more unlikable. Un-fucking-believable.
I'm starting to like Arya more. She seems to be losing the generic tomboy stereotype, which is always good.
And surprise surprise, Sansa is still being a weirdo. Yes, she has to keep the act up when Joffrey's around but even after [sp]she almost gets stripped by that guy in court and Tyrion asks her, pretty much in private, if she really wants to marry him, she insists Joffrey is the only love in her life[/sp]. Stockholm syndrome much?
Oh yeah, and what in the name of fuck was up with [sp]Melisandre (whose name, funnily enough, is not pronounced the way I thought it was, namely may-lee-san-dur) giving birth to....that shadow thing?[/sp]

Not really, it's fucking obvious how much she hates him.

Same doubt here, I was going to wait until I get there reading the books but I guess you can answer.
What the fuck was that? Does that happen again? Why did it [sp]kill Renly instead of Joffrey[/sp] or, I don't know, anyone?

As much as it [sp]killing Joffrey[/sp] would've made me applaud it, this does add some more drama to it.
And as much as I hate Joffrey, he is entertaining. The kid who plays him must have some of the most fun on set.
As for why [sp]it killed Renly, it eliminates another contestant for the Iron Throne. Killing Joffrey would send EVERYTHING into chaos[/sp]
in the books (relating to post above, so book 2 spoilers) [sp]there are 2 shadow babies... or at least it strikes twice. it kills Renly and some guy holding a castle that refuses to give up (and killing him resulted in the castle surrendering[/sp]
Not really, it's fucking obvious how much she hates him.
I love how Tyrion mentions that Sansa may outlive them all. She is also learning how the game is played, quite rapidly.

Speaking of Tyrion, I already liked him in S1 but I'm surprised at how more likable he's gotten in S2 so far. In S1, he was comic relief, not a whole lot more. In S2, he's comic relief but he's also matured. [sp]He becomes Hand of the King and what does he do? He's sensible, he's clever, he's doing everything he can to try and steer Joffrey in the right direction rather than the equivalent of lighting his farts on fire[/sp]

Arya just goes to be more and more awesome in the later books.

Shame they kind of ruined her story in season 2.
i wouldn't say they ruined it
I'm really disappointed that they ommited the scene where she throws boiling soup at the guards, frees the captured men, and stabs a guy in the neck.
Shame they kind of ruined her story in season 2.
While it would've been nice if [sp]Weasel Soup[/sp] made an appearance, the sacrifices for the sake of the story were worth it.
i wouldn't say they ruined it
Everything was kind of downplayed (excusable due to budget cuts) and Arya seemed much more innocent. In the books she murders at least a dozen people and beats the shit out of FatPie before even reaching Harrenhall.
Though I have to admit Tywin + Arya in the show is top notch. I would honestly pay to see an episode of them exchanging conversation.
i wouldn't say they ruined it
It wasn't ruined, just nowhere near as awesome as it should have been.

I have to disagree. Theon returns home and makes himself look like a fool, to both his father and sister. His father was angry because Theon shows up acting all badass and yet is good for nothing other than messing around with girls. Theon earned contempt.
Stannis meanwhile, is right about who should be king. Robert left no heir, therefore the next oldest brother to King Robert should have the crown. Stannis has excelled in battle too, so he's no Theon. The only problem is Stannis is not a people person, he doesn't have any social skills. And as we've seen, the game of thrones is all about playing people off each other. So Stannis is forced to take drastic measures.

Didn't Robert tell Eddard to sit on the throne until Joffrey came of age? Or did he have Stannis to sit on it until Joffrey came of age...I can't remember.

Robert wanted Stark to be Joffrey's regent, that's true, but the fact that Joffrey's mom tore up the paper and Stark was beheaded makes what Robert wanted irrelevant. After that, looking at the candidates for king, Stannis is the only one with a rightful claim.

I am not certain on how claimants work, but wouldn't a Targaryen be the only rightful claim?

Okay, so the Baratheon brothers are of partial Targaryen decent.

Targaryens lost their claim once they lost the war. Dany bitching about it doesn't matter.
Baratheons are still technically the leaders of the realm, thus Stannis is the heir.

Claims on the throne work like this.
Lets say you wanted a claim on the Iron Throne. The house that owns the iron throne has a prince that is not yet married. If you send your daughter over which then goes onto producing an heir to the throne then you now have a claim as a member of your close family sits on the iron throne.
Robert is a strange case as he did not want the throne. The only reason he was crowned is because the Targaryen's were forced into exile leaving the seven kingdoms without a ruler so therefore all claims were given to the house Baratheon.
What are the Lannisters earning with this? I mean, Joffrey is a Baratheon (I know he is not, but everybody -even him- thinks he is) and his child with Margaery will be "Baratheon" as well.
Why is Cersei doing all this? If she tells Joffrey the truth and suddenly the throne is Lannister what would happen?
The only thing that I can think of is making Joffrey lose some war to Tywin on purpose and then Jaime stays on the throne. Because in my mind the throne is not of the king, it's of the house, the king only rules. Joffrey can't just give the throne to a Lannister or "turning" the seven kingdoms Lannister.
Not sure if I got it all wrong this whole ruling story.

If the people find out their king is the product of incest the king won't be king for long.
