I don't read for long stretches. About an hour or two per day. It takes me overall a week to finish each book.
I meant finishing 2 books in 2 days seemed infeasible.
you're still confused. it's like buying skyrim and playing it ya? it might be a week or two before you beat the main story line but you have 40 hours or something in the game. we're talking about time spent just reading, that's it.
The books are pretty damn good on the first read, but I strongly recommend everyone should read them again once they have read the whole lot. You realise that Martin's done so much forshadowing on so many things, and you only notice 20% of the content on the first read. I've read most of them 4-5 times, and I still find things when going through them again.
Whelp, finally entirely up to date as for as the show is concerned.
[sp]Holy shit, that final scene. Ho-lee shit.[/sp] Now I REALLY can't wait for season 3.

You should be. The 3rd & 4th seasons are the entire reason they decided to do the show.
I read few parts of ASOS and I really hope they'll give [sp]Jaime[/sp] more time. He really is a cool character.

They have to. His transformation is an integral part of the story.
[editline]25th June 2012[/editline]
Also, what would be cool is if Book 3 finale Spoilers[sp]the Lady Stoneheart Reveal is when Brienne is captured, rather than at the end of the 4th series.
So we'd only see a woman in a grey cloak and show watchers would be like "Who the fuck is that" and shit bricks when she takes off the hood to talk to brienne[/sp]
Where does everyone think Ayra will go? Back to winterfell? or did I miss something?

It also just struck me that [sp]Joffrey got an upgrade. Now instead of marrying some teen girl from a family he really doesn't like, he gets to marry a cougar. Score![/sp]

He definitely got an upgrade on that part, but [sp]it won't matter really, he won't have time to fuck her (hopefully, the little shit).[/sp] (book/season 3 spoilers)

They should have shaved his hair off like in the book, he'd look awesome like that.

They may do it early on in the 3rd season, as he was recognized by those dudes so he cuts it off to make himself less recognizable.
[editline]26th June 2012[/editline]
Short, not all of it. He'd look ridiculous bald.
Just ordered the season 1 and 2 soundtracks

Just wanted to say, as a person now going through the books, thanks for labelling what the spoiler is containing.

It should really be a bannable offence for not labelling the book the spoiler is part of.

Too bad we don't have any mods frequently browsing this thread like some other TV show threads
if it's reported twice I think they get alerted
Season 3 is going to be batshit crazy if they actually stick to ASOS. There's a lot of stuff I want to see, but it would probably take two seasons to really do it justice. So either I'm two years away from seeing the best of that book, or it will be severely condensed.
if it's reported twice I think they get alerted
Alright then, fuck it. Let's start reporting them. We've spent two whole seasons trying to get people to stick to the rule but most people who come to this thread still don't bother with it.
The problem's gotten better recently, but it's by no means gone.
I've literally just finished a certain chapter in book 3 part 2 in which the [sp]rains of castamere[/sp] made a small appearance..
Come on George why be a dick ):

I genuinely feel like crying, the distant sound of [sp]Grey wind howling[/sp] was tear inducing

Yeah, that truly was heart wrenching.... George is a monster :(
Yeah how dare he do that to characters he created
doesnt tyrion have to get married and have children in order for house lannister to continue, since cersei is a baratheon and jamie is a member of the kingsguard (no wife, no children, no land etc) ?

Technically yes, but Tywin has a serious case of denial and still considers Jaime his heir and wants to get him out of the Kingsguard.

I wonder what happens if the tv series catch up with the books

Now I can't get the image out of my head that Jaime is Max Payne.
I KNOW EVERYTHING
Shit, page king.
Deploy emergency content:
The [sp]White Walker[/sp] at the end WAS NOT CGI. Holy shit.
We have received an announcement from HBO detailing some of the season three production parameters. While they do not mention a specific date, early July is named as the beginning of the shoot.
Morocco has been officially confirmed as a location for this season. As we have mentioned before, this brings the total number of countries where Game of Thrones is shooting this year to four. The production is returning to Morocco for the first time since the pilot shoot.
The writer line-up has likewise been confirmed and has not changed since last year: David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman, George R.R. Martin, and Vanessa Taylor.
More excitingly, we also get to know the directors for the season: David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Alex Graves, Michelle MacLaren, Dan Minahan, David Nutter, and Alik Sakharov. David & Dan are stepping into director shoes for the first time, Minahan, Nutter, and Sakharov are of the old guard. The two new ones in the bunch are Alex Graves and Michelle MacLaren (notably the first female director on the show).
In addition, HBO promised casting announcement soon. We are waiting eagerly.
Morocco must be either Dorne or Astapor, and I'd probably lean towards Astapor.
