the solution to eating that is easy. first, I would feed that crab-spider-strider thing to its natural predator. then, eat the natural predator. Or, have another predator eat the said predator, this cycle would be repeated until one finds a sufficiently non-disgusting animal to consume.

Actually, it's perfecly possible to make a bloody steak. The stuff grown in vats is not goo, it's well formed muscles, ideal for a juicy steak.

Anyway my point stands, just because we can hunt everything now, doesn't mean we should.
do vegetarians not understand how domestication works? cows, pigs, etc all depend on us to live- and we share sort of a mutual relationship with them. (they provide us with food/milk/leather/whatever and we provide them with food and assisted mating)
if we suddenly stopped eating meat and let these animals in to the wild they'd all end up getting eaten anyways, and chances are they'd go extinct. they've been bred so that they rely upon humans for survival.
in fact, some species-- turkey, for example --can not actually breed without our assistance.
